BEWARE - if you are not careful Bluu will try to charge you extra. Best to avoid - go to a more trustworthy provider (Avis at Johannesburg airport were great for us on this trip)
In our case, on a pre-booked car they tried to get me to sign the damage waiver before I could inspect the car, claiming their staff had pre-inspected and signed off on the existing damage. Good thing I refused and insisted looking at it first because the level of damage that was undocumented was shocking and would have stung us for a huge proportion of the deposit.
That's not all - we returned the car fully refuelled. When I received the invoice afterwards they charged us refuelling costs. I can see it's a common complaint with Bluu.
In short - Bluu are cowboys of the car rental service, avoid.

I booked a car from OR Tambo on December 23rd to 27th, 2025. All was well, and we travelled without any problems. I returned the car on the 27th to the Randburg branch, but to my surprise, five days later I received a call from Bluu Randburg telling me the car had damage. I was surprised because I know I didn't hit anything or bump into anything. I requested pictures and the footage as I was told scratch was captured by a camera when I entered the gate to drop off the car. But when I got there I was shown the footage of the 29th when the employee was reversing the car. I demanded the one for the 27th when I dropped the car. They played it several times and zoomed it, but there was no damage; the employee insisted it was not visible because it was raining on the day and also because of the camera pixels. They gave me an insurance forms to complete. Bluu car rental is surely a scam. I was expecting my refund and now the want to take all my money.

I'm willing to pay for a replacement part, but have had zero response to my inquiries after three requests. Take your business elsewhere, once this company have your money, they cease to care about customers.
BUYER BEWARE - Does Not Honor Warranty!
BUYER BEWARE - I purchased two umbrellas: BLUU MAPLE 10 FT Outdoor Solar Patio Umbrellas, LED Table Umbrella with 16 LED Strip Lights & Hub Light, Aluminum Frame, 36 Month Fade Resistance & UV Protection Olefin Fabric (Navy Blue) last August 2024, and liked them until they broke 8 months later - one would not stay fully open, kept sliding down when opened fully - seem to have a crank problem - the other one would not stay straight, kept falling at an angle, locking mechanism not holding - the umbrellas came with a one year warranty, so I reached out to the company - at first they responded and tried to replace one of the umbrellas - told me the 10ft solar umbrella was not longer made and they would send an 11ft solar lit umbrella - the umbrella I received was 11ft, but without solar lights or any lights - notified support and have tried numerous times to resolve this with nothing but a run around and finally being ghosted - therefore, think twice before buying anything from BLUU

Bought a cantilever umbrella from Bluu in the summer of 2023. Went to open it up this year and the stews holding 2 arms had somehow come off. I contacted the company and explained the problem and requested some additional screws and fastening nuts. Had to supply proof of purchase and pictures. It took days to get a response. Finally I heard back from customer service indicating they would try and locate the parts I needed. That was over 2 weeks ago. They are not responding to my follow up emails.
I have since found parts on my own. Will never buy from them again given their abysmal customer service.

We have a Bluu umbrella that is less than a year old- it’s still within the warranty. We discovered that the white cord that cranks open the umbrella (wildly thin for such a large umbrella!) had snapped. We have reached out multiple times in multiple ways and have still heard nothing back from the company. It seems, even from the good reviews, that customer service is a major failing for this company.
I would steer people away from making a purchase- the products are very expensive given the quality issues.

We bought 4 very large umbrellas. They are fantastic - gorgeous, easy to operate and very high quality. We were missing 1 piece and the customer service was great. You shipped us a new umbrella in. 1 day!! Thank you.

My recent experience was less than optimal with Bluu. I ordered counterweights for an umbrella. They were more expensive, but they looked like good ones. Promised 2-6 day delivery. Ordered and paid within a few minutes via cc. Didn't show after 2 days, 4 days or 6 days. I tried to track order but there's no tracking. I also tried to contact but cust. serv. is limited to emails. First two emails went unanswered. I sent a third to the sales department and they told me that they were out of stock and didn't know when they would be in but "they were working on the problem." Cancelled order but, again, only available via email and again no response.
Question about product answered immediately!
I emailed Bluu a technical question about one of their products on a Sunday and got a complete answer Monday morning. Looking forward to trying out the new umbrella.
Outstanding pre-sales service
Last year (2022) Hurricane Ian destroyed our pool cage and parts of the lanai. We are in the process of remodeling the lanai and pool cage with picture window. We needed a new big umbrella as well. After an intensive search we found the products of Bluu.com. We contacted bluu's customer service via e-mail with a lot of questions. All those questions were answered very quick and very professional by Mr. Aries.B. Aries reviewed all our sketches and pictures sent to him and came up with excellent recommendations. Without his professional help we would't have placed the order to bluu. He gave us the necessary trust to buy the "Redwood Pro Cantilever Umbrella Round Tier 1, 12 ft" and the "Mobil Base". Experienced Good Customer Service
The fire table I purchased is no longer available on the website but my customer service experience was very good in an age when customer service barely exists. When we opened the box the fire table medium was lava rocks rather than blue stone, which was the pictured on the website. I emailed customer service and received a response within 24 hours. Since the table is no longer sold by Bluu, they offered to refund money so I could purchase blue glass somewhere else. The table instructions said 12 pounds of glass was needed, what was offered by Bluu was not enough to pay for 12 pounds of glass. I asked for a larger refund and was given the larger amount I requested. I give a 4 instead of 5 because I received lava rock - but customer service was a 5.

Return policy is horrible. They send it in the original flimsy box and say it can't be returned if the box is in any way damaged. Send lots of pictures and wait for an answer

The umbrella I ordered was damaged during shipping. There is no customer service number to call, so my issue was resolved (partially) via two weeks of email exchange. Super frustrating.
