The item was faulty

The item was faulty
It’s installation was very complicated
I was told that I would have to resend the product back in order to establish that it was faulty before a new product could be issued
That was not acceptable to me in view of the labour costs involved and I ended up using the electronic board from my faulty extractor fan, which got the thing working
You should not be retailing these products if you cannot provide the appropriate level of support for their installation I will not be using your services again

To clarify, as part of our returns process, items do need to be sent back for inspection before we’re able to issue a refund or replacement. This ensures any faults are properly assessed by the manufacturer. The advice given by our team was in line with this process.

In terms of installation support, we’ll always do our best to help where we can, but for products like this we do recommend installation by a qualified electrician as they’re best placed to handle more technical aspects safely and correctly.

We do appreciate that returns can take time, which is why the option of returning the item for a refund and purchasing a replacement in the meantime was offered — to help avoid being without a working unit.

That said, we’re sorry this experience hasn’t met your expectations, and we do appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

Happy Customer

Although I have not installed the 125HT extractor fan yet I can comment on my experience, placing the order was very easy and I was very happy that it was delivered the next day despite being Bank holiday Friday. Can’t wait to get it installed and running. I’m very pleased. Thank you.

1 Star — Absolutely Avoid This Seller
The product itself might be fine — we barely even used it as it was for my son’s phone — but our experience with this seller has been incredibly frustrating.
Due to a change in circumstances, we needed to return the item and request a refund. That’s where everything went downhill. Instead of a straightforward process, we were sent in circles.
First, we received emails telling us to contact the seller directly via phone. After doing that, we were then told we had to pay a £25 charge plus Vat fee. On top of that, they claimed they don’t organise returns and collection and pushed us to arrange collection ourselves through a third party.
When I asked if I could simply return the item somewhere, the answer was no. Then they told us to contact Amazon as well — effectively bouncing us between different parties with no clear resolution. It turned into a complete nightmare.
This is not how returns should be handled. It’s unnecessarily complicated, stressful, and feels deliberately obstructive.
Save yourself the hassle — buy the same product from another seller. Avoid this one.

Just to help clear up a few points — the £25 + VAT charge you mentioned only applies if a customer specifically requests us to arrange a collection for an unsuitable return. Customers are always welcome to arrange their own courier instead, choosing a service and cost that works best for them.

We also offer multiple contact options including email, phone, and live chat — it’s entirely up to you which you prefer, so we wouldn’t expect you to only use one method.

If your order was placed via Amazon, returns are usually quickest and easiest through the Amazon returns portal, where they typically provide a low-cost label and process refunds once the item is dropped off. This may be why Amazon was referenced during your enquiry.

We do understand how this situation has felt from your side, and we’d really appreciate the chance to provide some clarity.

Very poor vommunication

Very poor, almost non existent communication. I received the order acknowledgement then nothing. I emailed and got no reply, went on "chat"and was told to go back to email. Eventually they got back to me on chat and blamed evri for the failure to communicate or deliver the item. They did then send the item which was delivered unexpectedly the next day, but I never received any communication or tracking info at all from Big on Electricals or evri.

Bought a ceiling fan it lasted 2 weeks.

Bought a ceiling fan in May, didn't get round to fitting it until March 2026. It only lasted a couple of weeks. Messaged the company twice but no reply. I think they hide behind a different name.
