Bebooks.space Harlow scam
This has just happened to me on the Gumtree site. They take a £1 then £39.99 five days later as a “subscription” charge. My bank at Lloyd’s have just cancelled the £39.99 and refunded the £1.

This has happened to me
This has happened to me. Just as other reviews have said. I've just realised that when I scanned qr code for blink camera they asked for £1 and I was so desperate to get cameras running as they are to keep my elderly parents safe(one has dementia and Parkinson's the other terminal cancer)I didn't think it wouldn't be legit. Reported to fraud today as noticed 39.99 has also been taken out. I didn't agree to a subscription. Have requested refund and also tried to cancel via email. Surely this is not right. People beware
DREADFUL SCAM
Exactly as below, booked parking for hotel stay in Chester, bebooks hijacked page, next thing I know 39.99 pending to be debited to my account, I emailed bebooks to cancel monthly subscription they did reply saying been cancelled, I've contacted my bank Barclays and been told if it does get debited, I'm to contact again and I'll be reimbursed. It's disgusting that this is happening to so many people, thankfully I check my bank account everyday as my husbands account was compromised 6 years ago - grrrr.....
As below same story
As below same story. QR code was for a Phillips shaver extended warranty. NatWest are unable to intervene whilst the "fraud" is pending although they can see it ?? They are working on the initial £1 but not on the £39.99 in pending. I have to raise a 2nd complaint but not until the money has been actually stolen. From earlier reports it shows Santander Barclays Nationwide and NatWest are all aware of this scam but seem unable/unwilling to blacklist the rogue company.
Bebooks.space QR CODE SCAM
Very similar to other reviews, piggyback off a restaurant qr code, and took £1, Realised immediately and spoke to NatWest. They couldn't prevent payment or resolve the fraud until the transaction had cleared???
Went through their refund procedure twice cancelled the card and they have today authorised a third payment against the new card??? So much for chip and pin security,
Spoke to the bank again, and must go through the refund rigmarole again. This should not have been allowed to have been processed against a new and completely different card with differing 16 digit numbers expiry date and security code. Makes you wonder whose back the banks have.
Avoid this bunch of charlatans and be very wary of QR code apps who allow dodgy companies like this to scam innocent people with devious, underhand business practices

Scammed when putting qr tied me into a subscription that I am unable to cancel tried calling, emailing and using the cancellation on website that don't work. Keep trying to take more money from my account
HMRC verification process
It was while verifying my identity with HMRC that I required a scanner app and duly went to the suggested store and selected the 'recommended' app which then asked for a fee of £1. I was more concerned with HMRC to realise that I unintentionally signed up with bebook.space and my bank texted me over the validity of the £39.99 charge.
Thank you Santander for flagging this up but sadly we won't have heard of this scammer until they have done their deed.
Scammed trying to pay for parking
Scammed trying to pay for parking at Travelodge Bury. I used the QR code in the carpark to pay for parking, and agreed to a £1 charge on the card assuming it was necessary for the car park. Then I realised the website was for bebooks and not for the car park, so I paid using cash in the car park machines instead. Next thing I know £39.99 recurring payments to bebooks had been setup (Luckily Barclays flagged it and declined the payment). Had to cancel card and get a new one sent the same day I needed to do my Xmas shopping.
This is a scam
This is a scam. While installing an app for a security camera I was asked to give my credit card details in order to register. I thought this a bit odd and should have followed my instincts. I was asked to pay £1. Luckily my bank, Santander, immediately blocked the transaction and it was only then that I saw that I had paid beebooks.space. There was never any indication of this when I filled in the details. I had to cancel my card, not ideal just before Christmas. I accessed the app by scanning the QR code on the camera and my son suggested that this might be how the scam was carried out
Awful scan
Awful scan, noticed £39.99 had been taken off my partners credit card just before Xmas at worst possible time. No idea how. Not aware of ever authorising anything, unsubscribe on their site doesn’t work, no answer on phone, no response to email. Cancelled card and informed fraud team.
BEWARE Bebooks are Scammers
BEWARE Bebooks are Scammers. I went to pay for one thing and their advert came up over the top so ended up paying £1. I immediately checked on here and saw others ended up paying £39.99 per month, which is what their email said would happen. Their methods to unsubscribe don't work, so I stopped my card immediately.
Caution when installing car park apps
Whilst installing a parking app i was somehow diverted to b books site.

Scammers
Scammers. Piggybacked off an offer for a free trial of harry's razors. £39.99 out of my bank account for something I did not order. FRAUD reported to bank and action fraud.
Bebooks are just scammers
Bebooks are just scammers. They tried to take £39.99 off me after I signed up to Gumtree. They are totally dishonest and should be prosecuted.
My husband was also unknowingly signed…
My husband was also unknowingly signed up to Bebooks and they've taken 3 x transactions of £39.99 before we noticed. We purchased contactless car rental in Mallorca back in August and the rental company asked us to use an app to verify identity (i.e. upload driving licence & photo likeness) to proceed with the rental. I recall that whilst doing the identity verification via the app that we were asked to pay a £1.00 booking fee and we suspect that it was this transaction which unknowingly signed us up to Bebooks (on investigation today, we've found a single email from Bebooks in my husband's spam box which arrived on the same day that we purchased the car rental!). So there we have it. Almost £120.00 down to a company we didn't know existed until today and whose products and services we've never used.
This is dishonest business practice and should be made illegal. When a customer is purchasing a particular product or service, there should be no assumption on the part of the merchant that the customer wishes to be signed up to anything else. I visited the Bebooks website today to find out what this company was all about and it looks as though they offer an initial free e-book trial. However, it is clear that people aren't even aware that they've been signed up for that free trial....and since the one-time email from Bebooks goes straight into spam, people are kept unaware that they've been subscribed until they eventually notice money being extracted from them!
Bebooks advertise an 0808 support number on their website but after a recorded voice tells you that you are in the queue for the next available agent, you are kept dangling on the line until the recorded voice eventually tells you that no agent is available and the call ends! We'll see what response we get to an email.
