I am very disappointed with the Bank of India, Mahua branch. On 27th January 2026, due to a technical error, an amount of ₹19,915 was wrongly transferred from my account. I informed the bank immediately.
After their investigation, the bank gave me an official letter on 13th March 2026, confirming that the money has been put on "Hold" (Lien) in the receiver's account. This means the bank has full control over the money. However, even after holding the funds, the bank is refusing to refund my money and is making me visit the branch again and again for the last 40 days.
The branch manager is very unhelpful and does not give any clear answers. On one hand, the bank tells the RBI that the transaction was successful, but on the other hand, they give me a letter saying the money is on hold. This is very misleading and unprofessional. I am a small businessman and this delay is causing me a lot of trouble. I do not recommend this bank if you value your hard-earned money and mental peace.

Never go with a Givernment Bank in India I tried it inspite of some resistance from my CA. Its a nightmare, to deal with the Indian banks
India Banking - Low Ratings
My rating is of little value. I visited a Bank of India Branch because I needed to update the mobile number on my AADHAAR card and I have been searching for an alternative to HDFC. HDFC scores far less than the Bank of India. So it is not looking good. I have not seen any Indian bank scoring highly at all which is very worrying.
4 weeks of struggle to repatriate funds
Over 4 weeks to repatriate funds from India Branch to the US, put spurious impediments not required by the Reserve Bank if India for Non Resident repatriations, didnt disclose process for repatriation which involved their NY branch but cited a lot of Intermediary Bank charges for wires contravening clear and existing arrangement between my Bank and their US Clearing partner that waives intermediary charges (in reality the NY branch did not need to go through a SWIFT method at all). Breakdown of charges showed bulk of the exorbitant fees were ‘Commissions” versus Transaction Wiring charges. After this experience, will never do any more business with them;India has world class Banks that actually care about clients and smooth transactions and this experience was out of the 1960s..and they keep sending links that dont work saying they resolved the problem… the schlerotic IT links matches their lack of courtesy as was experienced. As a real time comparison, another Repatriation from a different institution took a day and half end to end, cost a minor fraction of the BofI charges and client experience was night and day. I have been banking with BOI for more than 25 years, never ever I have found any member of staff so helpful and dedicated professionally.
Asst manager Mr Ajay Kumar ALIKONDA was so professionally dedicated he during his leave days also not only replied my messages, but also sorted my NetBanking issues while on leave.
What an Asset for BOI cuncolim Branch where most of the staff are so busy to attend customers. This gentleman answers messages during out of banking hours always with an attitude to help and assist .

NON SUPPORTIVE MANAGER
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received at the Bank of India, Wadsa branch, specifically concerning the conduct of the branch manager. As a customer of Bank of India, I have always expected a certain level of professionalism and support, but my recent experience has fallen far short of this standard.
On 02/05/2025, I encountered the branch manager, [Manager's MR SUNIL , regarding the issue to resolve a RTGS transaction.
My interaction with the manager was characterized by the following unacceptable behavior:
Unprofessional Attitude: The manager displayed a dismissive and disrespectful attitude towards me. they interrupted me repeatedly, they seemed uninterested in understanding my issue.
Lack of Support: Instead of assisting me with my issue, the manager was completely unhelpful and non-supportive. to resolve my RTGS issue They refused to solve issue and take necessary steps to resolve, they made no attempt to find a solution, they passed the buck to another employee without ensuring my issue was resolved.
Non-cooperative Nature: The manager was unwilling to cooperate in finding a resolution, they did not offer any alternative solutions, they created unnecessary obstacles.
This behavior is not only unprofessional but also demonstrates a complete disregard for customer service. I left the branch feeling frustrated, disrespected, and with my issue unresolved. This experience has caused me significant inconvenience and distress.
I have already closed my 2 -3 family accounts from bank of india due to all this non supportive staff of bank of india
And today also i think to close my all accounts from bank of india ......
I look forward to a prompt response and a satisfactory resolution to this complaint.

This has been one of the worse experience I had with any lender.
We opened an application for a buy to let mortgage on a newly built property in a good area of Lewes.
The property is already let for £1800 per month as an active asset.
after months of asking all kind of documents and trying hard to meet all their ridiculous demands, they sent over the worst evaluation company, making me pay for this on the top of it.
The surveyors company has the worst reviews in their industry, but this lender is still happy to work with them and mess with people's money, time and space.
We have challenged the surveyor's report through the lender, as he added a lot of lies in his report, and we could prove that, but the lender denied the mortgage to me without any explanations.
We have not received an answer for their decision and need to make sure that people are aware before they start an application with this bank.
They will waste your time and money and if you don't have any of those to be wasted I would then suggest to move to a new lender.
BTW, they charged me £720 for the valuation when the service actual cost was £250.
After more than 2 weeks requesting the refund, we are still waiting for this to take place.
