We had a very frustrating experience with Art K. We booked for both our children, aged 11 and 14, two-week long summer camp at the Islington branch but after day 1 we understood it wasn't suitable for our kids because the other children were all much younger and the space was tiny. The manager was very understanding over the phone the following day and said we could get a refund. We then booked a different camp. In a subsequent email we were however told that we could only get a voucher, not a refund. Since we don't live near there, we have no use of a voucher (and frankly the activities are suited for much younger children).

Thank you for this opportunity to clarify how workshops for 6 to 16 age range are organised. Our behaviour policy is clear that every student must concentrate and contribute positively to the art environment. All students get their own project which is appropriate for their age. There were 4 students in the afternoon of the 24th July that was attended, in a 30 square meter air-conditioned space equipped with every possible material, and a highly trained art leader giving almost personal attention. It’s felt within this context, it’s perfectly reasonable for students aged 12 and 14 to have the space to have a stimulating, engaging, challenging art experience. Separately, over the same period at Hampstead- there have been some workshops for 11+ year olds where the average age is 13. This is how our credit was offered to provide flexibility to adjust and if this is still an option, please write to customerservice@art-k.co.uk to arrange.

The art work was great and the girls were very proud of it. It would have been good to get feedback from teacher about how to continue at home.

I'm not entirely clear about your comment about 'how to continue at home' but if the project they came for isn't finished, then just pop back to the studio outside our session times and I'm sure they'll love to chat about art and what to do next - bring some pictures so they know where you are at. Great teachers , very professional and lovely knew how to deal with children and kept all the kids engaged and entertained.
My son said it was the best holiday club ever.
He painted a beautiful picture, infact its now in our living room and everyone that comes to our house asks where we bought it from!!

I was happy with the setting
I was happy with the setting, the way the room was organised. The politeness of the teachers,etc. However, I did not continue taking my child there because, their level and style was not even taken into consideration, because everybody there did more or less the same thing. That's why it is a class perhaps, so that all the group has the same programme. The progress from one learning point to the next was also very slow. For £23 per lesson there could have been a lot of progress, so my daughter was getting bored. It would be nice if each child could be treated and taught according to their pace, but that's what classes are apparently, and that is as much as the teacher can do. I am however grateful for the things that my daughter learned, so if we could afford it and thought it was worth it, we would have continued. There are other classes online with cheaper price and KS3 programmes that are also accredited so we went for them instead.

Thank you for your very considered review. This review is based on attending 4 sessions when our average student stays around 4 years. The process of learning and creating can be slow initially as students maybe venturing out, finding their confidence in a new environment with a new teacher. Every student is allowed to find their own pace because creativity does not respond well to being pushed or given a deadline to finish.
Every student has their own project and is tutored individually. Our art leaders are teaching art skills and although delivering parents evidence of completed projects is the result, it’s not the aim. We provide a dedicated permanent art studio on the high street providing all materials, plus the highly qualified, trained, friendly staff who teach students individually. art-K is an enriching educational experience and currently your group has 8 students – all enjoying learning their art skills together. Today your session concludes with an art exhibition where parents are welcomed into the studio to see and discuss what their student has been learning and seeing all the other students art work/ what projects are next term etc. We hope this is an enjoyable opportunity for you to hear about what we do and why over 5000 children a week attend art-K to learn art skills. Taking everything into account thank you for considering art-K and whatever you finally decide, we wish you and your student all the very best.
Great learning spaceo
Great learning space, not too crowded and it is easy to locate. The teachers are friendly, welcoming and very very passionate about art. My daughter looks forward to visit every Tuesday.

The term seems to cover lots of different media but in reality the first half term has been all canvas/ acrylic and a thoughtful pace. Kids like to race ahead so explaining when each section may be complete would help. Overall a great experience and highly recommended
