Not a moving company, but instead a BROKER. Then they provide inaccurate "binding" estimates to make your move appear much cheaper than it will be.

Fraudulent business practices
This company and the brokers they use are fraudulent scam artists. Read the bad reviews, it’s all exactly what we are dealing with. After further research we found they have complaints with the BBB and claims with the federal government, it’s a matter of time before they are completely shut down. Check the FMCSA, it’s all a giant mess. Not sure we will ever see our stuff again and we’re already out nearly 3k, complete scam of a business.
STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!
STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!, moving is hard enough on its own but dealing with this company sucks!! Another reviewer said the rep low balls your inventory and keeps you on the phone to commit to all the paper work and then says they will be your contact through the whole process(ordeal) and the go rouge on you, I committed to this company because I was told availability was right, my house failed inspection and so we pulled our house of the market and we are staying till we figure out what we will do and they will not refund me anything, took my money !!!! do yourself a favor and don’t believe the good reviews they are CROOKS. !!!!
Never to use this company "bait and…
Never to use this company "bait and switch" by the time the real third party mover show up on the last possible day and time for us to move the price of the original quote double, we were stock we move forward with it, then at the end quadruple the price when the truck was full. Stay away from them....
They definitely seem and sound like…
They definitely seem and sound like professionals. Took my money for their Broker deposit and said that they had mover truck available and ready. Instead no one showed up. When I asked for a refund they explain their cancellation policy forfeits refunds but they’re going to get a truck to me today. Here we are 10p at night and no one showed. They’re a scam. Now I’m out $1100 deposit.
Not recommended
Not recommended. They were happy to take our money (a month ahead of scheduled move) then did not show up or call. We’re still trying to get a refund.
It’s a scam snd we fell for it. Save your money and aggravation.
SCAM!!SCAM!!!!SCAM!!Stay away!
SCAM!!SCAM!!!!SCAM!!Stay away!PLEASE save your hard earned money and DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OF THE GOOD REVIEWS BECAUSE THEY ARE FAKE. This company is a SCAM. Read the bad reviews. They are TRUE. The salesmen are smooth and will lie to you, leave things off your inventory or mislabel to give you a low quote and give you a ton of paperwork and wait on the phone until you pay making it impossible for you to read it all. They make you pay a deposit that is NONREFUNDABLE. They make you pay with bank account and not a credit card so that you can't get your money back. The salesmen lie to you saying that if you cancel you will get your money back because "They are not in the business of keeping your money". Do not believe anything not in writing. The salesmen says he will be around through the whole experience but disappears after you pay them and doesn't respond to text anymore. They would not let me cancel or give a refund even a month in advance. They did not show up in the 2 day time frame they were supposed to and I had to get a uhaul and move myself because our house was closing the following day. All the 26 ft uhauls were sold out in my area and I had to end up leaving precious belongings because of this scam company.Selling a house and moving out of state is hard enough without being scammed out of nearly $1,000 as well. I will NEVER EVER trust a moving company again. So many had it much worse than me and have lost 10s of thousands of dollars and waited months to get back their belongings. Then what they finally got back was mostly broken and destroyed. These people are criminals and need to be stopped.
Worst movers
Do not use them. Very unprofessional, not only did they not show up, but also did not call to say they weren't coming. If someone writes a bad review they just say its fake. BIG SCAM, avoid at all cost. They will keep your deposit after not doing what they said. In the process of putting a class action law suit in place. Feel free to contact me on here if you have had a similar experience.
They aren’t a real company. Do not give them money,
This company took my money, never sent movers and then bragged about how they stole my deposit. It’s a SCAMMMMMMM
When it shows you google the building it shows you a dirty USPS store. The “brokers” are at home and you can hear children.
They changed their name from “Independence Van Lines” Over 130 complaints on BBB.com
It’s cheaper to use Shipping Pods. U-Haul pods quoted me cheaper to ship two bedrooms across the country. They load/unload, and pickup a drop off from and to your desired location.
Unless you want to give money to evil salespeople who gain joy out of taking from working class people, please steer clear. Don’t listen to the sales people about the fake reviews either, remember they have done this to hundreds before you and will do it again. The moving industry isn’t even that competitive. And why aren’t they showing up to moves?
Please warn others.
Horrible… avoid like the bubonic…
Horrible… avoid like the bubonic plague! Terrible customer service. Belongings broken or lost… SERIOUSLY…. How does this even happen. Price doubled and then some… 3 weeks later, when the truck FINALLY ARRIVES … my daughters clothes… GONE…furniture broken…. once again… how does this even happen !!!
Find another company… whatever you do, don’t use this company
DO NOT USE THIS CO.
My friends had this company move them from Florida to Kentucky. They were devastated when they got there stuff. Everything w a broke or scratched up or dented and I mean everything. The lady of the family had 3 bags of clothes that were sectioned and none of them made it here. She has no clothes. These were real customers. If your smart you will pass this company and go for someone else.
I am a real customer
I am a real customer. My wife and I signed up with this company to do our move from NH to TX recently. There was a lot of pressure up front to sign the contract and to put a deposit down. The person that signed us up was Jordan M. The total contract amount we signed for was $11,450. The first deposit that we had to do right away to secure the contract was $2773.78. Then we were contacted by the quality check team to go over all of our belongings that were going to be moved. Michael from the quality team was very good to talk with. My wife was very meticulous with our belongings and made sure that everything was on the packing list. We then had to make another deposit of $1205 to schedule a moving truck to come to our house. Our moving truck was scheduled for 6/25/21 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.. The driver was supposed to call us on 6/24/21 but they never called. So we called the driver on 6/25/21 in the morning time to confirm their arrival. The driver told us that they were on the way to our house from New Jersey and that they would arrive by 130 p.m. which was already 1.5 hours behind schedule. At 130 p.m. they were not at our house, we called the driver again and they said that they were 30 minutes away. Nobody showed up 30 minutes later. At 230 p.m. we called the driver again and our call was not answered. We called every 15 minutes and nobody answered. Finally they arrived at 530 p.m. 9 hours late. They started to move our belongings into our driveway. Then after looking at our belongings they showed us a contract where it stated that it would cost $30,000 dollars to move our belongings. At this point it was after customer service hours and we had to be out of our house that night which the movers knew. They tried to do a bait and switch on us. This is fraud. The movers tried to tell us that our belongings were much more than originally quoted. Not true, we had everything on our packing slip. The movers also tried to tell us that our space would take up 3000 cubic feet, which also wasn't true. We had 2000 cubic feet.. At this point we did not want to pay $30,000, which the movers tried to make us pay with a credit card right away, even though we were told we would pay by check. The original contract was for $11,450, we had given a $4000 deposit already, then the movers wanted another $30,000 making the total $34,000. Absolute bait and switch, fraudulent scheme this company did on us. We did not want to pay that much money, so the movers threw our stuff back in my garage and took off. We then had to find a storage facility nearby, move all of our belongings on our own because we had to be out of the house that day. We ended up finding a better moving company that was much nicer, did not need a deposit up front, and much cheaper. Do not do business with this company. They refuse to give back our deposit of $4,000 because I refused service with their movers. What I really refused was getting ripped off from a bait and switch fraudulent scheme. This company did not provide services rendered, they are set up to steal from you.
This has been the worst experience that…
This has been the worst experience that I have ever had with movers. I called to set up my move a move nearly a month in advance. First person that I spoke to Robert R. told me that my exact date June 29th would be okay for pickup. They gave me a window to July 4th. I have yet to get any information about my move. I literally had to call everyday and still never have received information. They are rude on top of that. Everyone claims to be a supervisor, yet none of them can tell you anything. It is now past the time I’m which they claimed that my items would be picked up for my move and their response is to wait everyday until the movers decide to show up. I truly believe that they are a scam that only wants deposits that they refuse to give back. They don’t care about your move every happening. DO NOT choose this “company” and don’t believe their responses to negative reviews and being fake. If they truly cared they would reach out, but instead they want to scam people into thinking that all negative reviews are fake. This one definitely isn’t, I have the first and last names of all those that I have spoken with as well as all paperwork. I keep a record of everything. Angela also likes to hang up on people. They are an absolute scam!!!!
POOR LOGISTICS INACCURATE INFORMATION
My movers were to arrive on June 26 or the following work day, June 28. No show No call. Apparently not sufficient room an the truck. Pickup reassigned to June 30 July 1. Each day I would call and told the truck would be there on time. Then on the afternoon of Jul. 2nd I was advised that pick up would be "today" if not, call tomorrow that customer service would be open on Sat. of the holiday weekend. When my movers did not arrive, I recalled and greeted by an answering service that advised my inquiry would be forwarded to the company on July6th. I am waiting in my house which closed escrow yesterday hoping that I get moved before the new owners charge me rent
Bad Business -- Double Price at Pick-up
Matt, an American representative quoted me $2,114 to move a small one-bedroom apartment and a Kayak. That price did not cover all of the items that I discussed with him in my initial conversation. The price he quoted wouldn't even cover a studio apartment according to the actual movers that arrived on July 1, 2021. The price I ended up paying without the movers taking my bed, bedframe, the Kayak, and other items ended up being $3,591. If everything was actually moved the total price would have been $4,663. How was Matt so off? I will tell you why he was off, he was trying to make a sale. I literally went in each room while on the phone with him and told him the box sizes and numbers. Total scam!
Matt and I discussed his pricing based on weight. Guess What? Movers DO NOT work off weight. Matt's quote was equivalent to 300 cubic ft. which doesn't even cover a studio apartment. Additionally, as I stated above, I wanted to move a Kayak, which I discussed with Matt. Guess What? There is an extra $200 fee to move that type of item. To add to the inaccurate cost estimate, there is also some sort of truck sizing fee or whatever they call it, which is an additional $500 just for the type of truck that they arrived in, an additional admin fee of $650, and additional fuel surcharges.
This is absolute BAD BUSINESS. American totally scammed me.
Worked with paul erving from sales
Worked with paul erving from sales. It was an absolute disaster.
first- the movers asked if they could come 2 days early. Then I said no lets go on with the original date. Then the original date came and the mover said he can come in TEN DAYS.
They use 3rd party carrier for their moves. And the sales reps wont tell you this. They will act like this is all one smooth operation. Anyone who has had a good experience with them either paid for a small move or they had REALLLLLLY flexible move dates. My recommendation is to never use this company. It will make your life harder and you will lose thousands of dollars. Never make the mistake I made and listen to the sales reps on your first initial call. Stay far away.
Scammers
Scammers, total scammers. Somehow my quote went from $3400 to $6800 when I added a dresser, treadmill, crib and 20 more boxes. Bonkers. RUN.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
First and foremost, turn around and run while you can. This company is going through negative reviews trying to claim everything as “fraudulent” but I assure you the horror stories are in line with what we experienced. My name is Bassel Almadani, and the move was scheduled for 6/3-6/4 from Chicago to Cleveland. Happy to share the paperwork. I plan to report them to BBB and am considering legal options.
As you’ve read - they first pressure you into paying a deposit on the phone. The sales rep Paris gave us an estimate of $3275 to pick up 6/3 and drop off 6/4, and when we explained our belongings he said he’d just put 290 boxes for the estimate since it “fills a truck,” and if anything - we’d be charged less. We asked explicitly if they bundle moves, and when we’d expect goods to be dropped. He assured us they pick up 6/3 and drop off 6/4. The agreement said “move date” 6/3-6/4, which didn’t conflict.
So Memorial Day comes and goes, and I call them first thing on 6/1 to ask when they’ll pick up. I’m told that I’ll get a call. Hours go by with no call, so I call again - same empty promise. No call comes on 6/1 OR 6/2, and we stay up all night packing in case they come first thing on 6/3… of course, no one shows up. I call them over and over - same empty promise!! I FINALLY get a call at 6PM (!!) to confirm pickup for the NEXT day.
Now it’s 6/4. We get no calls all morning, then finally hear that they’ll arrive at 4pm to start. The movers show up, then look around and tell us it will cost TWICE the amount that was estimated and that they can actually wait up to 30 days to deliver unless we pay a $1500 expedited fee!!
So now we’re completely trapped, and I spend hours on the phone to ask the company how this is possible. Their customer service was incredibly rude, and they’d repeatedly put us on hold without giving us context. They even hung up on us at one point. I spoke with Bobby (manager), and Jordan (head of department) and they were super condescending and dismissive.
We’re stuck and have to get going so I ask them to work on furniture while I run to Uhaul and get a trailer to move as much as I can on my own (despite hiring movers to avoid this exact situation). The movers didn’t finish until 10:30pm, then asked if we’d do expedited shipping for $1000 instead - so they don’t have to drop everything off that night in a warehouse. We reluctantly agreed, mainly because we thought we’d have our items the next day as it is and didn’t pack for a month without things (because honestly who would hire this company knowing this).
And yes, it gets worse.
The next day we start calling to get an ETA for our belongings. By the afternoon, they let us know they won’t get in until 9pm, and their movers will be tired so they prefer waiting until 6/6 to unload. We’re stuck again, and continue being patient. Now it’s 6/7 - By midday they’re still 3 hours away with a “flat tire”… 5 hours go by and I ask where they are. They went to a parking lot to find help from people who were not employees and never met the movers before.
The movers showed up after 5pm and began unloading - then scratched our floors, damaged a ton of furniture (they literally put packing tape on the finished furniture), shattered a lamp, and beyond.
After it was all said and done we were charged nearly $7000, aside from the additional costs and headaches of renting a separate trailer and hauling ourselves.
So please please please, save yourself time and money, and avoid this company. They are shady, slimy, and very unprofessional. If you care about a budget or anything in your home - I strongly advise going with any other company than American Long Distance Moving and Storage.
BEWARE this company does NOT do anything they say
This company is horrible they were dishonest from the beginning. They told us they could ship our items for $3,900. A week before they were to pick up our boxes they called and said “oh no that is wrong it is $4,900 and you must give us more deposit $. When we refused because we had an agreement with them that they now were not going to honor he threatened me and yelled “do you want your stuff picked up or not”!! I called a supervisor and she told me we did not owe any additional $ and the quote was fine. They gave us a 4 day window for our boxes to be picked up. Not only did they not ever show up they never called us. I had to call them twice a day everyday and often times they would put me on hold and never come back to the phone. They told us each day they would have a solution for us the next day and every next day it was “let us work on it and we will call you tomorrow”. They would NEVER call us back. When we told them we understood the shipping challenges they are experiencing right now we said “we understand so just go ahead and give us our deposit back and we will rent a UHaul and drive the stuff ourselves. They never agreed to give us our deposit back and will not call us back or take our calls.
RUN!!! Shady Liars!!!
I couldn't review any of my docs or estimate the day after I signed. I was told I was required to put down 50% of our move estimate and I'm now that I want a refund I am just finding out only 15% was required. I was told they would work with me because we had just spent most of our money during a 21 day ICU stay in the hospital because my husband had a brain tumor removed. They took advantage of us and would not issue a refund.
American Long Distance Scammers
So initially I put a quote online and randomly someone named Robert text me to call to get a moving quote to move from New Mexico to Alabama. So I called and was told that I’m in luck that they have a truck going to Alabama and they can give me half off the load because I would be doing them a favor. However they initially need a deposit up front. I thought was odd and should have trusted my gut but the quote of 4K was appealing. I ended up paying 2k up front through my bank account, they wouldn’t take credit card. I am told someone will contact me to do another inventory check a few days out from the move and then the movers would contact me 48 hours prior to the move. I did get the inventory call to confirm and everything still seemed fine. Well moving day hits and I still never got a call. I called them numerous times and left voicemails with Robert. I called customer service and was hung up on and then blocked. So, needless to say the movers never showed and never called. So I had do rent a Penske truck and do my own move. This company is a huge scam and there’s horrible reviews on Trust Pilot. I never thought I would be scammed, this is a horrible feeling and a ton of undue stress. I am filing a dispute with my bank agains them. I won’t go do without fighting this.
