Ordered a box which contained a variety of meat and veggie dishes plus naan and rice, absolutely delicious!! Delivery arrived promptly and food was still frozen. Will definitely order again!!!

Slightly disappointed

My husband loves curries. He's eaten in some excellent restaurants. The promise of a Michelin quality meal made us try this company. We ordered 2 meals each with some extras. It was OK, but not outstanding. Frankly, I expected better. A good naan is a thing of beauty. These just tasted like the long life ones you can buy in a supermarket. Dry and not very nice. Rice good, but expensive. My main issue, oddly, was the large amount of mutton in my meal, but barely any sauce. I'd have been happy with far less meat and more sauce. Delivery was just dumped on our doorstep 12 feet from a busy road. Not acceptable as we were in! Would love to have found a gem, but we won't be ordering again.

Disappointing Tandoori box

Disappointing Tandoori box, not up to their usual standards. So we ordered 2 Tandoori boxes for a 60th party, the quality was very poor, not like their other curries which are superb. The lamb cutlets were very fatty and some as big as a loin chop, the menu says Fillets Of Beef which implies beef fillet but they for sure are not, I own a butchers so we know our meat, this was tough as old boot, chewy and full of gristle. The rest of the box is made up of cheap chicken cuts again not blown away by the quality. Mint chutney was superb as were the nan breads.
We will stick with the normal curries from now on

Great food and customer service

We always love the food, their good allergy advice makes it easy as I'm gluten and dairy free. DHL let us down on the delivery and the customer service from Aktar At Home has been fantastic, quick responsive, helpful and assuring

Fantastic food & customer service

Fantastic food & customer service. We ordered for a dinner party to celebrate my 40th Birthday in April & the food was incredible, it came really well packaged & there was plenty of it. Every dish was fantastic, I would highly recommend!

Excellent food reasonably priced

First time order of a curry box. There was plenty of food for eight people. Good sized portions and eight large naans. The standard of the curry was amazing. The delivery process worked fine and they arrived frozen and in a perfect condition. You will need to plan ahead to ensure you get a delivery slot on your required day

I make no apologies for basing this…

I make no apologies for basing this review purely on customer services as and not the curries as ive yet to taste them.
I ordered a substantial order for a large Easter gathering as recommended by my sister whose opinion I value.
The ordering process was difficult with items disappearing from the basket and the items listed only by their colour coding making it difficult to check the items ordered. Delivery was almost £9 , quite high and is not guaranteed for the day requested, however there is an assurance that items will remain frozen as the packaging is so effective. I expected a delivery slot to be allocated on the morning of expected delivery. It was not and I was expected to be available 7am-10 pm. Not practical for most people, but they don’t require a signature. No safe place asked for so technically they could be left on the road side in full sun all day for any one to pick up.
On delivery I unpacked immediately, none of the items were even partially frozen , which wasn't an issue to me as they were for use over the weekend. The use by dates displayed on the packaging are for months ahead so clearly based on the items being frozen. Their website states it is safe to refeeze providing some ice crystals are present. I find this highly unlikely and would not attempt to do so . I have a medical background and am aware of the hazards of food poisoning.
There was no deliverance information in the packaging and i had to upload the order to check it was correct. One item was missing. As stated this was a
specific request for a family gathering and was required. I however of course accept human error is always a possibility.
Contacting Aktar at home proved difficult. They have no direct phone line and are at pains to point out customers are not to contact the restaurant who actually has the Michelin star they happily trade off the back off as it is a separate entity.
I filled in an on line form expecting an apology, an immediately refund and a gesture of goodwill.
What I got was a response requesting photographic evidence and a copy of the order details I had already said was not present.
I provided what I could going through the bins in the rain. I received a response that I could have the item credited to my account, I actually requested a refund as at this time i was losing patient with the company and felt like a criminal . This was grudgingly accepted with a time frame of 10 days!
With no ability to communicate back as they were closed for the bank holiday I attempted to contact them via Facebook messenger, only to find this was only available to outgoing not incoming messages!
Im desperation I posted on their Facebook. It was factual and accurate.
A response appeared from Aktar at Home. It was derisory in nature to the point of being rude . It belittled my comments and made me out to be a moaning , inconsiderate customer and them a fantastic michelin star outfit , providing excellent products and services. Basically how dare I make a negative comment.
If you think this is a lengthy review , you should have seen theirs! They clearly have more time to respond negatively to constructive criticism than to provide decent customer service.
What a way to treat your client base.
I have seen similar responses, sarcastic, derogatory and disrespectful in nature to others who have had the audacity to respond less than glowingly.
I hope the curries are at least edible .
I have low expectations from an overpriced, over opinionated , disengenuous company.
Truly pathetic service and childish behaviour .

Excellent food

Excellent food. Packaging kept everything intact and frozen, delivered as arranged. An enormous amount of food made it great value for the cost. Will definitely order again and looking forward to ordering the tandoori BBQ option in the summer.

Curries are great, delivery is a lottery and food and occasions may be spoiled

The curries are great, but they're let down by couriers -- DPD in this case who failed to deliver the (frozen) food at all the first day, missed the slot the second day, and dumped the defrosting box on the lawn without ringing the doorbell and faked my signature on the third attempt.

Aktar's customer service is friendly but a little slow, which doesn't help in situations like this. The food was for a party and in the end I had to order in a takeaway instead. They've offered to refund me (out of their own pocket as DHL don't refund them) which assuming it arrives is a reasonable response.

I know it's hard for a small company in situations like this, but I'd like to see faster replies given we're talking about fresh food which is (often) intended for a specific occasion. I'd also like to see a choice of couriers. They're all pretty bad on the whole, but we know that DPD and Evri(!) are good in this area, for example.

Five stars for the product, but please keep working to find ways to minimise the impact of bad couriers.

Standard of product

Food quite authentic but accompaniments do not meet up to expectations. Naan taste like supermarket product and do not regenerate to an acceptable standard. Only four portions of rice for 4 meat & 4 portions of vegetarian dishes which was very disappointing. Quite expensive for what you get.

Delivery and Customer service problems

Ordered for a Friday night with friends, everything went according to plan until DPD did not deliver. I rang DPD got spoken to like an idiot, no apology just told they couldn’t deliver and would deliver the next day (Saturday) I explained it was food and we were away so they couldn’t deliver. Once I got of the phone I received a email to say I had requested the delivery to be rescheduled. I immediately rang DPD back and explained the situation again spoken to like an idiot. I was then informed the delivery would not be made. I emailed Aktar at home and explained the issues we had and I was told I’d rescheduled the delivery and everything would be fine. As I had explained to Aktar & DPD we were going away early Saturday morning so the food would be no good, I expected a refund and the food to be returned. To my surprise we returned late Sunday morning to at Aktar at Home delivery which had been outside since 9.30am on Saturday morning! Again I contacted Aktar and was told the food would be fine and they can’t guarantee you’ll get the food the day you order for it and offered a small discount code. Food was binned and I’ve still not had a refund. I’m sure the food is amazing but the delivery and customer service is absolutely awful.

Excellent all round.

Aktar at Home curry boxes and tandoori boxes are amazing, we've had several of each and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Every dish has been perfectly spiced and seasoned and with plenty of good quality meat they are excellent value as well. The aged basmati rice is superb as are the naans. The delivery service is excellent and all the foodstuff is very well packed in insulated containers. These curries are in a different league to your local take away.

You will never get a takeaway again!

Amazing food! High quality meat and fish! So delicious and I cannot recommend highly enough!

We started using Aktarathome in 2020... I love indian food but cannot master it as an at home cook and our local takeaways are so full of oil it's off putting...

Cue Michelin chef Aktar Islam who has curated these at home boxes.... we have had them all:-

There is sooooo much food, hot curries, mild curries, vegeterian curries... I would never have chosen dahl but it is now one of my favourite things to eat.

The cooking is authentic, tasty and amazing! We are a family of 6 and each box is enough for 2 meals... oh my did I mention the bread? The Naans are the best you've ever eaten and Cloud bread! Oh my!!!

No nuts in anything either which is an added bonus as an allergy sufferer! Just love this company!!!!

Not very good food unfortunately

Not very good food unfortunately. Such a shame as we ordered the vegetarian curry boxes for a special birthday meal and were looking forward to some amazing by a Michelin starred chef. They weren’t special at all, either bland or too hot. And very expensive
