My gold portfolio is currently worth $46,189.32 LESS THAN it should be, and Advantage Gold is responsible.



In 2014, I inherited my mother's Vanguard IRA.



Six years later, in 2020, GOLD IRAs were being promoted in all media as “The best safe haven for retirement funds.”



With no knowledge of precious metals, I purchased three books on Gold, one by Jim Rickards and two by Adam Baratta. Mr. Baratta was the co-founder of Advantage Gold in Los Angeles and so, as a CA resident, I called to request a consultation.

NOTE: Adam Baratta has since left Advantage Gold.

Rob Alexander, the Senior Account Executive at that time, returned my call. He explained that converting my inherited Vanguard IRA into a GOLD IRA would be a simple matter and could be handled over the phone.



Mr Alexander said he would have someone else call me to determine the best coins to include in my portfolio.



Right away another man called. I apprised him of the value of the IRA and specified that I DID NOT WANT any rare coins, and ONLY WANTED to include coins that were real currency. I’ve learned the term for REAL currency is LEGAL TENDER.



The second man quickly determined which coins to include. The whole process couldn’t have been easier.



Mr. Alexander then called again to ask if I would consider writing a review on TrustPilot and so I gladly wrote a FIVE STAR review.

NOTE: Mr.Alexander has also left Advantage Gold.



Fast forward to 2022. The pandemic was headline news. “Two weeks to slow the spread” became two years and two major CA banks failed. That’s when I decided to take possession of the coins in my Gold IRA.



Again, no problem. The gold coins were shipped directly to me. When they arrived, I viewed them for the very first time, then stored them away in a secure location. I also started to collect 1oz.U.S.Silver Eagles.



Fast forward to November 2025 - only three months ago.



While in the process of updating my WILL, my attorney
suggested that I make a list of all the gold and silver coins, including their current value, and designate the beneficiaries.

While seeking professional assistance to determine the CURRENT value of the GOLD coins, I learned that . . .

…112 of the 123 coins that Advantage Gold had placed in my portfolio ARE NOT LEGAL TENDER.

Instead they are what is called SPECIALTY or PROPRIETARY coins and, more troubling still, I learned they were minted by the Royal Canadian Mint EXCLUSIVELY FOR ADVANTAGE GOLD.



If the objective was to mint coins that look like legal tender, the 112 Gold Caribou Coins couldn’t do a better job.

On one side there’s a bust of Queen Elizabeth with text above her head that reads, ELIZABETH II and text below her head that reads 10 DOLLARS.



On the opposite side is a Caribou with text above the Caribou that reads, CANADA 2020, and below the Caribou is text that reads 1/4 OZ FINE GOLD.



In addition to THE 112 CARIBOU coins which Advantage Gold valued at $77,952.00, they also included 11 GOLD AMERICAN EAGLES which they valued at $22,550.00. The EAGLES, I’ve learned, ARE LEGAL TENDER

Thus, MORE THAN 3/4 of the gold coins which Advantage Gold placed in my portfolio were THEIR OWN SPECIALTY MERCHANDISE and ARE NOT LEGAL TENDER.



IN SHORT: Advantage Gold had an opportunity to FILL THE PORTFOLIO of an UNSUSPECTING, UNINFORMED client, with THEIR OWN OVERVALUED MERCHANDISE, for which they were free to charge whatever they chose and . . . THEY DID JUST THAT.



SEEKING RESTITUTION



GOLD (bars, coins, jewelry, etc.) have dramatically increased in value since 2020 and thus, ALL GOLD PORTFOLIOS are considerably more valuable today, based SOLELY on the weight of gold. But WEIGHT is NOT the only consideration.



For the same $77,952.00 that Advantage Gold charged for their specialty Caribou coins, they could have, AND SHOULD HAVE, included 38 more GOLD EAGLES INSTEAD and, if they had, those GOLD EAGLES today would be worth $46,189.32 MORE THAN their 112 CARIBOU SPECIALTY COINS, and that disparity will only INCREASE year over year.



I first reconnected with Advantage Gold by phone, the outcome of which was continued deception.

Since then, I’ve been advised to only communicate with Advantage Gold in WRITING, so as to DOCUMENT all of our correspondence. (13 PDF pages back-and-forth-to date).



If Abraham Lincoln settled a war without a telephone, there is no reason why Advantage Gold cannot simply agree IN WRITING to trade the 112 CARIBOU COINS they placed in my portfolio for 38 additional GOLD EAGLES. After all, in 2020, PER ADVANTAGE GOLD, they were of equal value.
So WHY NOT exchange them equally now???



I’ve learned that Advantage Gold has minted FOUR MORE SPECIALTY COINS. The Moose, the Bighorn, the Wolverine and the Orca.



In 2020 I gave Advantage Gold a 5 star review because I DID NOT KNOW THE TRUTH. I have now removed that review.

Advantage gold responded immediately to my inquiry and my Representative JARED spent numerous hours making sure i understood the Precious metals and would not proceed until i was completely comfortable with every process and treated me like FAMILY. Awesome experience and I would recommend them strongly. A+ 5 stars
