DON’T GET A CARD FROM VANQUIS

I had an account with Vanquis for a few years and always made regular payments, when the pandemic hit last year I took the holiday payment option for three months, which the government advised credit agencies to offer to its customers.
My two other credit card companies offered me the holiday payment scheme, i.e. payment freeze and no interest, however, Vanquis didn’t, they froze payments but kept adding interest which then took my card over its limit.
As I was out of work due to the pandemic I couldn’t pay this at the time.
Nearing the end of the holiday period I managed to find work and wanted to start making regular payments again, as with my other two cards. Vanquis had froze my account and told me I had to pay a set amount for 9 months, once I was back within my credit limit my case would be reviewed and I may get my card back.
It turns out after speaking to them yesterday, they lied to me and my account will be reviewed once the balance is settled, to add insult the have put 3 missed payment marks against my clean credit file and I have the status of “agreement in place” on my file too.
I think this company lacks any morals or principles, talk about kicking someone when they’re down, and when they’re trying to get up, still kicking. Fortunately for myself I am able to deal with this debt and will pay every last penny back to them. It’s unimaginable how many people went through the pandemic last year with debts and were not able to cope, some of whom never made it. So be aware before you get a card with this company, it lacks any form of compassion or empathy for its customers. It’s just a shame I couldn’t give the a minus rating, very very poor.

Update: Vanquis have responded as seen below, this is just to save face, I’ve already spoke to customer services and there’s nothing they will do, don’t be fooled please!
