We hired a campervan from Yorkshire Campervan Hire for 4 days / 3 nights to travel up to Seahouses and explore some of the beautiful Northumberland coast, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

There were five things that really stood out for us about this company:

1. Nothing was too much trouble

From the very beginning, nothing was too much trouble. I dealt with a lovely lady called Sara, who was fantastic throughout. She answered all of our questions and concerns promptly, and if she didn’t immediately know the answer, she would find out and call me straight back. The level of communication and customer service was excellent.

2. Flexibility with collection and return times

One of the few companies I found that allowed some flexibility around the hire times. Most campervan hire seems to work a bit like a hotel booking — collection around 3pm and return by 10am — which, in my opinion, effectively loses you a day either side.

Sara was happy for us to collect the van at 10am on our first day and return it at 5:30pm on our final day. I paid a little extra for the extended hire, but it was absolutely worth it as it meant we could make the most of the whole trip rather than losing valuable time.

3. Generous mileage allowance

Most of the vans have a 150-mile-per-day allowance. As we were taking the van for the additional half day, Sara was also happy to increase our allowance by another 75 miles, which was another really nice touch and meant we could enjoy the trip without worrying about going over the mileage.

4. Excellent when we had a problem

Unfortunately, we did have a minor issue during the trip which resulted in some damage to the van. I reported it straight away and Sara was extremely helpful, understanding and professional throughout. Obviously, there was an additional cost involved in getting the damage sorted, but the whole situation was handled fairly and professionally, which I really appreciated.

5. A great van

The vans themselves are relatively new and well looked after. Ours was around four years old and had relatively low mileage. It was an absolute dream to drive and was really comfortable for the four of us.

Most importantly, though, we had an amazing time. This was our first campervan holiday with the kids (8 and 10), and we made loads of fantastic memories together exploring the Northumberland coast.

I’d hire from Yorkshire Campervan Hire again without hesitation. In fact, we’re already planning to come back at some point next year!

All in all, a fantastic experience, a lovely van and excellent customer service. Highly recommended.

California ocean was in perfect condition with everything working fine. Sara sent some great walkthrough videos so we knew how everything worked. Pick up was straight forward and my car was safe and secure whilst I had the van. I’m planning more trips and I’ll be contacting rhese guys to hire from again soon. A great overall experience.

We hired a VW Transporter California for a week in August. We are two adults, a fourteen year-old and a small dog with a big sense of entitlement. We travelled between Whitby and the West of the Yorkshire Dales.

The van was great. Lots of handy features like outdoor chairs that tuck into a pocket in the door of the boot and an electric pop-up roof. We had plenty of room. The bed in the pop-up was a good size and comfortable for the adult-sized teenager. The rock and roll bed and inside table were both easy to put up and down. Easy to drive, even in narrow lanes with huge drystone walls, and the parking cameras made car parks easy even though we're not used to driving large vehicles.

Picking up and dropping off was really easy and we were happy to be able to leave our car in what was clearly a secure location. Sara was very relaxed and friendly and showed us how to use everything and was very responsive to our queries.

We ended up using the leisure battery exclusively and not hookup and it was fine.

Hired 3 beautiful campers from this company this year,all been head turner's and absolutely spotless inside and out staff cant do enough for you ,wouldn't hire one from anywhere else

Fantastic experience renting the VW camper van! The van was clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and the whole rental process was smooth and easy. We had a brilliant trip and would definitely rent again!

We had a really good experience hiring a VW campervan. We took it to a festival at Castle Howard and then spent some time exploring the Yorkshire Dales with our dog, Baz. It was perfect.

We had the best 3 day trip to the Lakes in the vw camper van, and it couldn't have been a better experience. It was such a great adventure for me and my son, giving us the chance to explore, relax, and do some amazing activities.

The camper van was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It was easy to drive, and made travelling around the Lake District a real pleasure. The whole hiring process was simple, and Sara is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful from start to finish.

I can't thank them enough for helping make our trip so memorable. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of hiring a camper van, and we'll definitely be back for another adventure!
