I purchased a front door weatherboard, via Buildworld. It arrived within x3 days - sadly with 5" of one end of it splintered off. I managed to glue this back on and when cutting to required size, was only 2" into the repaired part, all now painted and looks fab.

The reason this was damaged was because it was just packaged in a see through quite flimsy cellophane bag, that had my address label on.

There was no packing of the item to protect it, so during its journey to me, being man handled about via transport hubs and vans, it had a bit of a rough ride. Would be very wary of purchasing anything from this supplier in the future. But all in all, now very happy with the quality item.

I now see that the Buy It Direct Group has acquired XL Joinery, so may be things will approve with regard to packaging.

Extremely frustrating experience. They charged me twice even though my first order was cancelled. Now I will need to initiate a chargeback to recover the duplicate payment.

A really bad experience. November 2024 I’d ordered two “Internal Stamford Oak Pre-Finished Fire Door 1981 x 686 x 44mm” via B&Q. The doors were not as pictured, the detail between the panels was very different, with like a triangle router rather than a flat indent. At the time I didn’t mind, however by April 2025 I realised the doors had since been discontinued! I was only 2 doors in on a full house renovation project!!!

The issue I have now is I can’t find anyone else who make doors similar!

Firstly if the door in the image was supplied I could have matched easily and secondly I think at the point of ordering I should be been advised the range was pending discontinuing.

Bought 3x fire doors, all apparently in stock. Only 1x door delivered initially. Had to delay carpenter for several months for the remaining 2x doors to be delivered. These were also of inferior quality compared to the first one. Complained to both XL Joinery and retailer but had no reply.

Sorry I had to give one star doors had woodworm with a covering of undercoat staff not interested wasted my time fitting it lost a days work sorting it out still waiting shocking service

Lovely doors. One arrived damaged but customer service was excellent and arrangements were made for collection and a replacement door sent out without any hassle.

Very happy with the two internal glazed doors. Unfortunately one of the doors was slightly damaged on the edge. Not worth returning since could be fixed with a little wood filler. Drivers were excellent and helped me carry the doors to the first floor of my apartment building

Very pleased with the actual doors, did have to wait as they were on back order, although not a problem. Communications regarding estimated import date were good from Vivid Doors. Securely packaged to prevent damage. Delivery wasn't as expected. The doors arrived at 2315 on the previous day to the indicated date. Door bell wasn't rang and the door was left leaning against the side wall.

The doors arrived as expected. The delivery was undamaged and personel curious.

My door is as I wanted. Delivery was excellent. And id like to commend the delivery driver who ' went above and beyond' i what was diabolical weather.

The delivery vehicle broke down which was unfortunate and I was happy to reschedule to Monday from the original Friday. Monday came and went and no communication which was disappointing, so I rang and was told that it would be with me by 7pm. It wasn’t. Called several times on Tuesday and was told by 12, then by 3, then by 5. Eventually the driver rang me himself and said he’d be there by 7, which actually turned out to be nearer 8.

I remarked to the driver that he was due the day before to which he said that he didn’t know why I’d been told that, as the company knew the van would be in the garage until Tuesday earliest. All in all I have no problems with the door, nor the driver, but the untruthful information given to me by the helpline is the real issue here. It’s sad that I wasn’t told the truth, or worse, that they just tried to pacify me with lies.

Your poor driver, having had this experience of his van breaking down, a few days hauled up in no doubt some horrible M5 motel and then to have to deliver to the whole of Cornwall and then go back up north the same night is not great. You should’ve sent another vehicle and helped out your delivery colleague who was clearly nearly on his knees come 8pm. What a way to treat your employees.

Brilliant delivery. Doors are really good quality. Very pleased.

utterly useless service. Door warped within a year. Company we bought from has gone bust, contacted these jokers and provided my receipt. They then insisted on a delivery note...A year later im not expected to keep a delivery note.
They refused to help.

On 21st January 2025, I placed an order for two solid core oak doors with frosted glazing and the suggested XL Joinery handle and hardware packs via another company. (MODA Doors). I have no idea about the relationship between these two companies but both display a lack of interest in their customers.

The original 3 ~ 5 day delivery date was false. My doors arrived after 9 days but without the essential handle and hardware packs that were being supplied by XL Joinery. I had been told that it would simplify delivery if the doors and handle packs came from the same company. I contacted MODA doors about the missing handle/hardware packs and these were delivered to me the following day.

Both handle packs had the same fault in that one handle in each pack had the rose stuck fast so that it could not be undone to place the screws that held it to the door. It also prevented access to drill the holes for the supporting brace mechanism. Finally, one pack was missing a set screw to secure the square section rod to the. handle.

I let MODA doors know this immediately and they promised to get me replacement hardware and handle packs. I spoke with several people over a few days and had not been advised that replacement handle packs were ordered.

I had some e-mail contact with MODA doors and was told on the 7th February that some photographs of the handle would be required. I am not sure why because a photograph of a stuck fitting will not show that it is stuck. I was informed by MODA doors on 11th February that new replacement handle packs had been despatched.

I made several phone calls over several days to XL Joinery staff to try to obtain a tracking number for the replacement handle packs. Each person I spoke with agreed to do deal with my concerns but it was never done and no tracking number was ever sent to me. On the 18th February, I spoke to a staff member at XL Joinery and they confirmed that no package had been despatched. After some hours delay and me phoning twice to get them to honour their agreement to deal with the matter immediately, I received an e-mail communication with a tracking number.

The tracking number does not work and Royal Mail state they cannot track the item until it is delivered. Today, February, 20th, I still have not received any replacement hardware for the faulty items. It is now one whole month since first placing my order and I regret that I spent money on XL Joinery products.

Jamie is the only staff member at XL doors who has attempted to resolve all of my issues. I called today to let him know that no packages had arrived and I cannot trace them. Jamie is asking another department to look into the problem of non-delivery.

I talked to a mechanical engineer that I know, and he explained that the rose cover and the handle body had been linished (smoothed) while screwed together and the swarf generated by this process had slipped between the threads and jammed them. He said that this was a well understood issue with Stainless steel components. The problem is addressed by not combining the components before the linishing process.

A negative review for XL Joinery customer service and MODA doors. From my point of view I cannot recommend either of these two companies.

I recently ordered a door from XL Joinery, and overall, I’m happy with the experience. They had the specific size I needed when others didn’t, and the ordering process was straightforward. Delivery was quicker than expected, though I did experience a small issue with the delivery company, as the packaging arrived damaged—fortunately, the door itself was fine. The quality and finish were mostly good, and the door required only minimal adjustment to fit. There’s some room for improvement, but I’d still recommend XL Joinery and would use them again. 4 stars!

Good service even when had to rearrange delivery date at last minute and then delivered on time and driver helped to carry doors to house

2 x Interior doors ordered and handle assemblies. when product arrived on date given all items found to be of great quality and what was stated is what was delivered without any fuss.
Much appreciated.
