More reliable than EasyJet.

VanOne is more reliable than airlines. I booked my move with VanOne and the van arrived, collected and delivered my possessions as planned.

I booked my flight with EasyJet, and they let me down. Twice I had to rebook with them.

If there is anything Vanone could do to improve, they should offer passenger seats in their vans.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

I was very sceptical when I booked my move with these people as I had read a lot of bad reviews online. However, I had managed to find quite a few good reviews as well, and it seemed that mostly the bad reviews were about drivers showing up a few hours or even a day ahead/later than the planned time and not managing english very well. They were quite a bit cheaper than the other moving companies I had found, and I was quite prepared to be flexible with regards to time, so decided to take the chance. I shouldn't have! The cheap price is so not worth all the trouble, stress and frustration I have had with this move and customer service is a completeley foreign concept to these people! I hardly know where to begin cause it is quite a long story, but will try to sum it up. 10m3 move from Vejle, Denmark to Inverness, Scotland booked one month in advance. Booking confirmation said 2-5 days delivery time - normal delivery is within 2 days according to their website, but thought 2-5 days was fine since it is a long drive. Was phoned up on the day of pickup and told that delivery time would be 10 days instead! Had no choice but to accept this as all my travel arrangements had been made and it was too late and expensive to cancel! Had to quarantine for 10 days on arrival to the UK in a house with no furniture, so ended up spending 10 days alone sitting and sleeping on a matt on the floor in an empty house with no internet! Time I thought I would spend unpacking all my things and getting everything in order before I had to go back to Denmark again a couple of weeks later. Absoluteley horrible! On day 10 after pickup I called and asked when I could expect my goods to arrive. They hadn't even entered the UK yet! Was told they would cross the border after the weekend and be delivered on Tuesday. Called in on Tuesday and was told they would definately arrive on Wednesday which they did - a full 14 days after pickup in Denmark! Had written to them several times and demanded a new invoice for the remaining amount as I refused to pay the full amount when I had not agreed to a delivery time of this magnitude. Did not receive a reply to this of course and on the day of delivery I was asked to pay the remaing amount in full or my things would not be delivered. I insisted on them sending me another invoice. Was told that this would not be possible but the guy assured me that I would be able to get a compensation and that I should send a request for that after delivery. I was on the brink of tears at this point and desperate to get my things so ended up paying the full invoice. Fortunateley all my things where delivered although I could tell that they had been transferred to another van on the way and some of the furniture had not been placed properly in the van and had some ugly dents and damage as a result. I wrote a request for a compensation a few days after and waited two weeks with no response. Wrote again - got the reply that they agreed that I should be given compensation and asked what amount I had in mind. I wrote back a - to my mind - very reasonable amount - well below 1/5 of the full balance. Have not heard from them since and have written to request a reply several times. It has now been a month and a half since I requested the compensation, and at this point I don't expect to get anything from them. They keep saying how sorry they are for the trouble caused but do absoluteley nothing to remedy their mess so I would recommend everyone to avoid this company at all cost - its just not worth the worry and frustration they put you through!

Avoid for personal moving

ONLY use if you are really strapped for cash and you have very powerful prayers, because anything can happen. It is practically impossible to communicate with this company, which means that in effect your goods are hijacked from the moment they collect. They seem to deal mostly with industrial customers, which may explain why the drivers do not even have a trolley to carry boxes. I would never ever use this company again for personal moving. MOST DISTRESSING.

5-years-after update:
Interestingly now (and we post this to help other customers make their mind in light of the company's ethos), after five years have passed, they send us an email offering us £100 for deleting this review. The gall! Enough said, I reckon.

A+ would use again

I had to move around 10 boxes, a small desk and a chair from London to Belgium during lockdown and brexit. Although the paperwork I had to submit was extensive, everything was quite straightforward. Their portal was really useful to see what the progress on my order. The driver Mariusz was a nice guy and quite willing to help. Everything delivered the same day I shipped it! A+

Unreliable and seemingly incompetent

Unreliable and seemingly incompetent. I cannot recommend this company in my experience. Will do anything to get your business and then, through a complete absence of communication and inability to delivery, accuse you of lying. Lots of other bad reviews elsewhere that I did not pay enough attention to, there are also lots of suspect 5* reviews. I suggest you avoid this company.

Terrible experience

**Update in response to VanOne below. All UK citizens are now non-EU nationals. I also have a full visa for Andorra and have written confirmation from you that this was the delivery address. Lying in a public forum does you no favours.

N.B. VanOne somehow get negative Google Reviews REMOVED (mine and my partners was).

Terrible experience, they didn’t have the correct paperwork and left my wife and son’s personal items overnight at the border. I had to rent a van myself and go pick it up. Rude threatening behaviour from one of their managers who had less than zero understanding of their contract and what their employees told me. Total cowboys with really poor communication. Trust me, do yourselves a favour and stay well clear of this company. In response: I followed clear written instructions from their employees, checking 4 times that my details were understood and received 4 confirmations via email. Utterly unreliable and exceptionally rude too. BEWARE.

Non EU national wanted to sneak through the Andorran border by ordering his removal to deliver to the village in Spain near the border. Then he ask the driver to deliver his goods to Andorra. It did not work.

It would be 5 stars if not for their discriminatory Brexit policy.

The driver arrived on time and was very helpful. The post-Brexit policy allowing British nationals to relocate to the EU is complete chaos! I did not vote for Brexit, but I was treated highly unfair by VanOne. They kept asking me to prove my residency in Germany despite all of the declarations I already supplied to them! If you are German, you are probably exempt from the hassle I had to go through.

AVOID like the plague

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I wish I had read the negative reviews here first and avoided a huge amount of pain. I also wish the employees of VanOne would read them and all quit. These guys are crooks to the bone and you should be ashamed to work for them.

This is a shake down operation where they seem to get people into vulnerable positions and then blackmail them. As others, we were moving from UK to Spain. They assured us 2 vans was enough but to be sure when the drivers arrived (2 hours late), I asked him to be 100% sure there was enough space before loading (I have moved enough times to know that) and he confirmed all OK. Note that these guys do not speak much or any English.
They half load the lorries (unbelievably slowly...like 5 mins rest for every 2 mins of loading). Then after many calls in Polish to a mystery man they shut the backs of the lorries with half my possessions now on the pavement and announce that I need to pay over £1,200 more and wait several days for another van.

My wife has cancer (hence the move) and is extremely ill so my 80 Yr old father is helping. He gets upset as this is clearly a scam and one of the drivers pushes him over. Unbelievable! It was a set up from the first minute. The lead driver had a home made weight gauge which said we were 300kg under weight, but still forcefully shut the van and drove off.

If I'd had more time I would have got them to unload and refused to pay, but my wife has cancer and was waiting for me in Spain, and the new owners were moving in the next day (all of which they knew).

To add to the fun 2 out of 3 trucks broke down on the way, they arrived whenever they fancied and the whole thing was a mess.

I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

Good budget option

Good budget option, but beware of post-Brexit red tape. I used VanOne to move the contents of a small bedroom from London to Belgium. Here are the pros and cons from my experience. Overall I would recommend them as my move was successful and the price was right, although timely communication was lacking.

Pros: they offered the best price for my timescales, all of my belongings arrived undamaged and quickly, driver was very friendly and helpful (he was not fluent in English but this was not an issue)

Cons: now that the UK is a third country in relation to the EU, there is a lot of extra customs documentation needed to move items into the EU. Even though VanOne advertises that they are ready for the post-Brexit reality, it was not clear from my experience that they really are (although then again, is anyone?). I was notified very late in the day of a long list of documents I had to provide (on Wednesday before my scheduled move the next Monday). Some of these documents had to be requested from authorities, employers etc. so this could easily have gone wrong and required a lot of my effort in getting everything organised. There also seemed to be some internal miscommunication and I ended up sending documents repeatedly to multiple persons at the company. On the day of the move, I was not notified of whether and when my items would get picked up until 2pm, after calling multiple times, leaving voicemails, emailing and using the online chat feature. All of this was not fatal to the move, but did cause unnecessary stress.

I put 1 star just because I cannot put 0.
Let me tell you one thing: AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.
Please get in touch on here if you have experienced something similar to what I am about to tell you:
they are the biggest scam I have ever seen.

Long story short: moving between countries, the driver (alone, in flipflops, meant to drive for 20 hours straight) collected all my stuff and left.. the following day, whilst waiting to receive all my stuff on the other end, I receive an email saying that the driver got "attacked" and a lot of our stuff was "stolen" by some angry immigrants (of course) whilst the lorry was moving. A lot of our stuff was gone, including some heavy goods (as you do... who doesn't steal a huge rug from a moving lorry? Probably it was Aladdin)

I was upset, of course, but I knew that they had an insurance so I tried not to worry too much.
On arrival the driver asked us to sign the papers saying that "everything was delivered ok", but since it wasn't all ok we refused to do so and we said we would have been in touch after checking how big the loss was. He was fuming.
We checked and we were missing around £4k worth of goods (all carefully picked as well), I sent the email with evidence etc and they said that they would have provided me with the refund through their insurance PZU.. they then went completely AWOL.
Eventually after months and months of waiting I managed to contact their insurance who responded that "VanOne do not have any insurances for transport of goods"
I started a legal action against them but.. wait for the best part: THE COMPANY DISSOLVED, and now has been acquired by VOGB LTD.
Interestingly, the new owner is also the same guy who created VanOne years ago. Same website, same everything, just a different company name - enough to make the legal action almost impossible to pursue.
Almost impossible.. But I don't give up, and I will eventually get my money back.

As I said - AVOID AVOID AND AVOID

Had booked for 10 am. Our keys had to handed over by 2pm. Were late ,said they were running late but would be there by 11am. That came and went, very difficult to get hold of, when I did they hung up. Frantically trying to contact them. The driver turned up 4hrs late at 2pm because he had been to pick up another load, 3 motors which meant we could not load all of our possessions on and ran out of time and daylight. Left us no time to clear up for new owners as had to get key in, seriously late at 5pm. New owners really fed up with lateness and mess left so had to hire a contractor next day clear all items not loaded and mess.
The driver rang and wanted to deliver a day earlier than contract because he had to unload his motors. This was not possible as I was still travelling. He had to throw all of our stuff about and caused damage unloading the motors anyway. The next day he did arrive on time and was very helpful but it really did not make up for the terrible attitude and very poor service this company provided. Price is not everything.

For the price, you can't beat it.

For the price, you can't beat it. I moved approx 30 boxes from London to Berlin, (I chose the 5m3 option) there was a slight delay in pickup, but the goods arrived with me in perfect condition the next working day! I didn't expect them to arrive so fast, and it was a good job I was at home to receive them, (the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5) but the driver was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend Van One, for sure, but you need to be flexible around loading and unloading times. - If you get the 15m3 option, you get more specific pick up and drop off times.

Fantastic

Fantastic. We had to bring our removal forward and they made it possible. They answered emails and phone calls. The driver arrived on time and was polite and helpful. Had no problem finding us out of the way in Crete. Couldn't have asked for better. Thanks guys

Do not use them!

They picked up the stuff, and a day later blackmailed me in paying for another full truck because of excess weight, or the goods would not be delivered.

After delivery they provided no evidence of excess weight, just vanished and refuse to refund anything.

They are not part of UK Association of Removers. Be very careful !
