Terrible council. Pot holes all over the area. Council Tax goes up every year and service goes down.

I received my latest council tax demand today with an attempt at some explanatory literature. As as a household sitting in the highest rate band I am deeply unhappy for the following reasons:

My bill has increased by approximately 50 pc over the last 4 years and this year has increased by an inflation busting 8pc. At the same time level of services in terms of for example refuse collection, road repair have fallen dramatically.

The analysis of the expenditure is at best opaque. Approximately 65 pc of the £273m expenditure is on “social” and “needs”.
I would like detailed analysis of those figures as well as some explanation as to how that expenditure is managed and controlled.

How many people year on year have been employed by TBC and what have been the annual salary increases for management?

TBC claims to be improving the infra structure as one of the reasons for its profligacy and yet:
In Altrincham we have new cycle lanes that are not used,
A new crossing from Gorsey Lane across the Dunham Road, one way systems and sunken flower beds on Groby Road both of which were expensive and badly thought out so much so that congestion has increased. What was the rationale for this expenditure ?
The main thorough fares in and around Altrincham are full of dangerous potholes and a disgrace. What is the plan for repair of for example Ashley Road and Langham Road?

The arrangements for parking around Altrincham and Bowdon are a dangerous shambles. Illegal parking on St Margaret’s Road has increased dramatically as town centre parking has been curbed. How us ‘‘tis being managed and controlled?

As I see it my hard earned, highly taxed income is being wasted on inneffieciency, waste and ill thought out projects.

You claim “responsible stewardship of our finances”. I see no evidence of that assertion and little value in the £5k pa you demand from me. Accordingly I along with other residents would like greater transparency including a detail ed response and explanation to the points I have raised.

Worst council going. Rang them up to report potholes on a street on the 15th December 2025. Sent photos and had email saying they will let me know when an inspection happens. It is now 26th Jan 2026 and still nothing. Yet they shut roads for marathons collecting all that money. Causing inconvenience.

Trafford Council seems to operate on a simple principle: if there’s a way not to help taxpayers, they will find it—polish it, formalise it, and hide it behind layers of bureaucracy.

Every interaction feels like a test of endurance. Queries are met with scripted responses, accountability is endlessly “passed on,” and responsibility evaporates the moment it’s needed most. Systems are opaque by design, phone lines lead nowhere useful, and online processes appear carefully engineered to frustrate rather than resolve. You’re left with the overwhelming impression that efficiency and public service are afterthoughts, not priorities.

What’s most galling is the contrast between how quickly money is taken and how painfully slow support arrives—if it arrives at all. Taxpayers are treated less like constituents and more like inconveniences, expected to comply without question while receiving minimal transparency or assistance in return.

Instead of problem-solving, Trafford Council excels at box-ticking. Instead of empathy, it offers indifference. And instead of serving the public, it often feels like the public exists to serve the council’s processes.

For an organisation funded by taxpayers, Trafford Council shows remarkably little interest in making taxpayers’ lives easier. The prevailing culture appears defensive, dismissive, and disconnected from the reality of the people it’s meant to represent.

Thankyou One Trafford for the prompt response and repair of street light outside my house, which is located close to an acute bend in the road. The lighting is important for the safety of road users and pedestrians. The AMEY staff who attended were pleasant and professional. I was kept informed of progress of repair and completion by email, which was much appreciated.

Terrible service don't know how to run things properly and clearly don't care about people's needs

Corrupt, Ebony iveson coerces people that are vulnerable, so does Natalie hollignworth and Mollie Sheridan, lie about people they are assessing and take peoples babies from safe homes

This company is irresponsible and unprofessional,not only them to blame but Your Housing Group and Council.
Since beginning of 2023 January to April recycling bins not emptied.
At the car park we have 3 blue bins(cardboard). 3 Mixed recycling, 2 disposable and 4 green. We complaint to your housing group even we wrote a complaint letter sign by the majority of residents,they never answered, their answer was because of health and safety? What they were doing was ridiculous,they use to sent one of contractors to clean around. I thought maybe your housing owns money?
On the 21 st April had argument with a manager about the bins, in this day we had a visit from MP, so everything clean around to pretend nothing wrong.
I was expecting after if they contacted one Trafford but nothing, so I contacted a few times. They came a times but then they stopped,saying bins were contaminated but especially the blue ones nothing wrong.
Councillors,MPs involved,but didn't help. Nothing to say about MP he resolved other problems, but I was expecting more from councillors, still to this day problems not resolved.
I don't know why the councillor never believed what we saying, in September went to see the councillors,show them a letter from. Your housing dated from April 2024 saying BIFFA said they didn't empty bins because they were contaminated,and I have an email from this manager still saying, BIFFA instead of one Trafford. MP sent an email saying that one Trafford sent an email saying that the place was clean and collections go ahead as scheduled????? No never happened. After I saw the councillors in a Saturday, the following week they came only to empty one blue pin, they left the bin open. The thing is the bin men is in charged? Of this company? Is it a week management or inexistent?. Two weeks ago had to call them they didn't emptied the bins, they came 2 days after to empty, yesterday again they didn't emptied the bins.two weeks ago they left two bins from the shuttles out, after my phone call to them ,I went to put inside,off course already rubbish on the floor.
This company is doing a very bad service in old Trafford, what kind of training or induction the bin men,do they no what kind of people or places need help, do you ever thought some people have dementia,some other have other disabilities?? Maybe need more information from councillors and you, since 2023 we have about 15 new residents, been some from Africa,some from Asia? Different cultures and is not me or others to resolve this, the manager said she translated what and how to recycle, no one received anything.
Old Trafford is Filthy, they are lucky to have some volunteers to do litter picking everyday, from 5 to 8 bin bags a day. What you need to do one hour a day not much to see what needs to be done
Instead of people posting in Facebook. It's going to be 3 years we living with the rubbish problem, has you may know rubbish brings rats and mice, months ago reported to environmental health they didn't bother to answer. I don't for how long you have contract with council,since I was young I was told not to give long contracts because they always start well but than goes down hill. If you can see only in one street all the green bins with no leads, why? . what is happening at the place where I live is not our fault,we are customers, this is all about bad management both from you and your housing group and maybe as well councillor because ause she never believes what we say,even after I showed the letter from your housing group one year after saying BIFFA responsible for bins, don't understand.
You and your housing group were sat together twice,why you didn't resolved the problem, I asked the councillor to have a meeting with you and your housing group, but nothing why? What we have to do is sit again together and work a way to empty the bins from zero, all at the same time,and you need to be tough with bin men. I talked with several people but they don't like places with communal bins.

My daughter is in a few hundred pounds worth of debt with traffic council over council tax some years ago which she has a payment arrangement with Jacobs to pay. My daughter has been very poorly for the last six weeks in hospital and I’ve missed paying this payment for her as I wasn’t aware of it and as much as I’ve tried to speak to Jacob and resolve this, they are today coming to remove goods from her house as they refuse to accept her vulnerability claim. I’m honestly shocked at Trafford using a company that is aggressive as this. It can hardly help people who are in vulnerable situation or find themselves out of work unexpectedly etc to actually deal with these people who are at a level of aggression that in most ordinary cases you’d be able to call the police. So in this really difficult I’m trying to support the grandchildren and now deal with bailiffs and try to raise a couple of hundred pounds before the end of the day so they don’t take what very little my daughter has left after a brutal divorce, cancer and a long-term genetic condition. Trafford I’m appalled at you and ashamed your my local authority and you employee bullies like this

I spoke with a One Trafford customer service lady who was extremely dismissive about an issue I raised.

I recently had a new green bin delivered, and the driver told me that a new permit sticker (for bin collection) would arrive within a few days. It’s now been two weeks and two missed collections with no sign of it.

So, I called customer service to ask about getting a new permit and to understand why it hadn’t been sent yet. The lady on the phone told me they don’t send permits automatically and that I should have ordered one separately. I explained that the driver never mentioned this at all.

She couldn’t have cared less. Her tone was dismissive, and it felt like she had no interest in helping or even listening.

In the end, she said it would take up to 14 days for a new sticker to arrive. Where on earth is it being sent from? When I first paid for the permit, it arrived in just three days yet a replacement takes up to two weeks? Really disappointing experience.

Trafford council are charging us Council tax on 2 properties, one we actually live in, and the other which got new owners and exchanged/ received the keys 13th June 2025, been on calls with them but they are so inept, nothing has been done, so they have our money which of course they'll be making interest on!
I'm thinking of cancelling the direct debit to force them to contact us, which they soon will do and rearrange and new DD just for the property we actually live in, then of course is getting the money back that they owe us,which will probs take forever,whilst they gain interest, may have to get legal advice on this.
Hopeless

A hospice volunteer briefly stopped to assist an elderly patient from his vehicle to his front door, pausing for less than two minutes, and received a parking fine. The hospice contacted the council's traffic team to highlight the regulations regarding specific exemptions but were met with a firm refusal. The Trafford MP, Andrew Western, also declined to assist—truly a disheartening lack compassion.

I am trying to contact council tax dept past one month to get council tax bill corrected but no success yet. Seems the service levels have gone down and are at low level.

Trafford Council are now threatening committal to prison proceedings for raising concerns about council tax payments.I've never refused to pay.I'd happily pay, just wanted greater clarity.

Why is only the town centre pavements are cleaned we as paying residents have to live in a dump no bins are being emptied not one pavement been cleared of leaves fly tipping everywhere I notified our green councillor he told me to report it myself it’s a dirty disgusting dump as well as being embarrassing when visitors come , the Clarendon Ave flyover is now being used as a toilet not only for infant school children but now for adults who are on their spliff tea break from ambassador place ,,, get a grip please we live here !!!!!!!!!

Trafford Council needs to review the quality of its services at every level. The bin collection service, particularly for green bins, is dire. I have reported 8 missed in collections in 9 weeks - make that 9 in 10 weeks but I can't report the last one because Trafford's 'system is down' and they are only dealing with emergencies! Our bins are shared by 16 apartments. Trafford don't empty bins on the right day - or not at all! They let leaves rot on the pavements for weeks until they are a danger or block the drains so the roads flood, I have reported this & they state they will inspect within 28 days!! No rush then! Trafford leave litter lying for weeks & grass & weeds growing through the pavements for months. We'll e requested a litterbin for the bus stop outside - refused! So we have to pick up the drinks cans & litter. The people on the 'OneTrafford' phones do their best to record the issues and, to me', they have always been unfailingly polite. But they have no power to get anything done.This council is a dead loss! What are we paying council taxes for when services are so bad? I have made a formal complaint about the green bins but had no response - and it will just be a 'sorry' letter & the bad services will continue.

Absolute scum ! only get a house if you are the right colour but if you are British and lived here all your life you are left homeless for iver 4 years with a 7 year old with autism who needs stability

Vile Council, give you housing help and council tax help and then 10 years down the line they fraudulently alter your pay slips to then claim every penny back and take the joint name off and chase the only one working. Even when HMRC, Police and other authority's prove they are in the wrong for doing it and I've done nothing wrong they still don't care and expect 5 years worth to be aid within 12 months

Been debating posting this all week but the fact that I have not had a follow up email/ call is really starting to grate on me and something is just not sitting right.

On Tuesday me and my family went to the Play Factore (under the Chill Factore @ Trafford) @

Half way through our session, I went into the toddler soft play area with Finley (3 years old) we were rolling about on the floor when Finley grabbed something and said “Mummy look what I’ve found.” I immediately grabbed it off him because my heart sunk, it was A FLIP KIFE!
Yes my THREE YEAR OLD FOUND A KNIFE IN THE KIDS SOFT PLAY AREA! (A picture attached of what it looked like)
To cut a very long story short, security watched cctv, it had fallen out of some dad’s pocket. I watched as the young girl behind the desk had a word with him (a few laughs were exchanged between them which was highly inappropriate) and he left with his family.

Apparently he was mortified/ traumatised and scarred for life.. he had been fishing at the weekend and it was his fishing jacket..

First of all, it was a very smart fishing jacket he was wearing with smart jeans a fancy tshirt and expensive shoes… hmm. Second of all, if that is the story we’re going to go with, why the F would you not check your pockets, why would you be so irresponsible to let that happen. I’m not buying it at all.

I appreciate mistakes may happen, but this is absolutely not ok and the one who is traumatised is me. I keep thinking what if, what if I wasn’t with Fin when he found it, what if he opened it and ran to me, what if someone else found it.. the alternative outcome could of been FATAL. It’s just not sat right with me since Tuesday.

I don’t usually post things like, but ive had no response from the venue, not even a curtsy call (not that they took my contact details, I’ve had to email them) so I’ve had no choice to seek further my
I’m also wondering what happened to the knife? Was it given back? Should the police of been informed? I’m telling you now, that was not a fishing jacket. As far as I’m concerned a WEAPON was allowed through the doors at a kids soft play area. A place where parents go and should feel secure and know their kids are safe. The same place that also says if you are seen bringing in your own food and drink then you’ll have it confiscated 🤡🤡🤡
