Absolutely shocking experience with…

Absolutely shocking experience with MotoNovo Finance Limited and The Motor Group Peterborough — avoid both like the plague.

I bought a car through them thinking I was getting something decent for over £20k, and within just a few weeks the thing turned into a complete nightmare. The car literally failed on the motorway at 60mph — just died and wouldn’t restart. That’s not just inconvenient, that’s dangerous as hell. No car sold at that price should be breaking down like that after barely 2–3 months.

And it wasn’t some minor issue either — we’re talking serious engine problems. The kind that leaves the car undriveable for MONTHS. It’s been sitting in a garage ever since, basically a useless lump of metal.

What makes it even worse is the pathetic customer service. The dealership’s response? “Go get a warranty.” That’s it. No accountability, no urgency, just passing the problem on. Completely useless.

Then MotoNovo Finance Limited dragged things out for weeks, couldn’t even give a proper response on time, and when they finally did, they basically tried to deny everything despite clear evidence the car was faulty. It took escalating the whole thing just to get someone to actually acknowledge reality.

The whole process has been stressful, exhausting, and honestly a joke. No one seemed to care that I’d been left without a car for months, paying money for something I couldn’t even use. Zero responsibility, zero urgency, zero respect for the customer.

End result? The car was deemed not of satisfactory quality — which says it all.

Save yourself the headache: don’t buy from The Motor Group Peterborough and don’t finance through MotoNovo Finance Limited. Absolute shambles from start to finish.

One star is far too much.
The worst experience I’ve ever had.
Following purchase inspection 3 pages of faults. In 7 weeks I had the car 1, which I was scared to drive due to exhaust fumes and leaking diesel.
With no hire car or communication.
Still fighting for money back.
And not a group, owned by single person with no responsibility at all.

Very unprofessional

Very unprofessional. We bought an electric car and took it there; they had nothing prepared. The tires were flat, and when I asked for a battery report, they didn't know what it was. A worker had the car keys at his house. Absolutely disastrous. The car has had some problems, like the rearview mirror and the car's screen not working properly. Even after extending the warranty, they refuse to take responsibility for anything. Very unprofessional, SCAM!

Belt motor company sold me a bad car not fit for use

This company have sold me a car not fit for use .. oil leak locked up dual mass fly wheel.. bad coolant leak .. battery that won’t start the car .. rear differential worn .. 4 weeks later no refund car went back but collected back my self due to being in a queue to get my money bad .. sales man told me I am number 7 in queue and company has cash flow problem just to add on they have given me abuse on the phone and again failed in collecting car as promised

AVOID!!! AVOID!!!

absolutely shocking is an understatement, To travel 4 hours to collect a car for it to break down on a test drive 20 minutes later they came to get it to be laughed at! considering it passed an M.O.T the same day! break alerts on the dash board came on, close the door and side panel just falls off, seatbelt at the back would not clip in at all so how it passed I do not know, was definitely a dodgy one, and according to them it was our fault for apparently rushing them! absolutely devastating, I honestly say to anyone who is looking to get a car here make sure you do the research before anything because if you find a fault and tell them they will blame you

Non refundable £500 deposit

Great service when you walk in but if you change you mind or your circumstances change and you no longer require the car they keep you £500 deposit. So unless you 100% you happy and have had the car checked yourself go elsewhere where they don't keep your deposit

Go Elsewhere

Bought a car late last year from them, pulled up a few things to see what they could and couldn’t sort (I know they can’t fix every small blemish) agreed if tyres were below 2mm they would he changed (one was on its limit if not less) brakes were looking ready (again they stated if under a certain limit would be changed) and a few other niggles.

I’d driven 2 hours to view and on test driving it I’d noticed a slight jump/skip but due to never driving an auto nor an Xdrive I wasn’t completely sure if it was me or the car but assumed if a problem it would be spotted and paid my deposit.

What resulted after this was just painful, a collection date was constantly pushed back as they apparently kept finding issues, but I was having to chase them to find these out. The slip/jump was noticed and they believed it was the transfer case control module which they changed (fair enough… more on this later) it took me over 3 weeks to eventually get notified that the car was sorted, it would of took them another day as for some reason they kept saying they was going to valet it but then never did so I just told them not to bother I can detail the car myself.

I then drove 2 hours to collect making sure I got there before opening time (not sure they appreciated this but after chasing for 3 weeks I was trying to avoid more reasons why I couldn’t collect)
Upon initial inspection they’d painted what they were going to paint ironically enough after I cleaned it it seems they used the wrong paint, mines a non metallic, the paint they used is metallic, but I’ll look over it as the paint job wasn’t that great so I’ll probably end up getting it redone anyway or get new bumpers.
The tyre that was on the limit hadn’t been changed despite them taking it off to change the brakes! I was told they had a young lad (I assume apprentice) who had probably done it and they’d speak to him and was offered £100 off. I accepted this despite knowing that XDrive systems are notoriously sensitive and that if you change one tyre you pretty much always have to change them all unless they’re relatively new to avoid damaging it so I feel the real reason was they didn’t want to pay £1000 for 4 tyres. The grill that was loose due to being cracked had been glued (eBay £15 for pair) and after a test drive the original jump/skip was no longer present.

I drove it back and noticed an odd thud/skip when slowing to a stop from time to time after researching it came back it could be transfer case and that the tyres could set it off (remember when I said more on this later) so I went out and paid £1000 for BMW star marked tyres which did indeed stop the issue when stopping however when tight cornering the car now did a very noticeable juddering which again upon research transfer case was one of the possible issues but they said the issue with it was the control module and they’d swapped that so instead I went looking at other cheaper issues first. After 5 months my front differential decided to obliterate itself after one of the front driveshafts popped out in which a failing front diff can give similar symptoms so I was hopeful this was the problem after paying £1100 on recon parts alone (would of been £3000 if direct from BMW) I got a BMW Specialist to fix my car to then tell me it was still juddering and that they believed the transfer case was the issue and that from BMW best price would be £2700+ Vat, so I again very luckily found a complete recon transfer case for £1200 and had that fitted added with a total labour cost of just shy £1500 for all the work bringing the total bill to approx £3800.
I can now say that the car is fine but the transfer case should of been done with them and not bodged to just last longer and get it past its 3 months warranty (I did call after a few days of buying the car to explain I was having an issue but got told to take it to a garage to see what they say and to send the report to them despite me saying back then I was pretty adamant they hadn’t resolved the transfer case issue and that is was a them issue not a warranty issue as they obviously hadn’t fixed the fault that they were meant to) now I can’t say the front diff would of been saved if The Motor Group had actually done there job and changed the transfer case but I accept I can’t say it was there fault as there’s no way to know this… but I can say they knew of the transfer case and of the tyres and feel they realised they’d be out of pocket if they were to rectify the issues properly before selling it to me unless it was P/X dirt cheap I’d guess the total cost to fix what they should of fixed (at what I paid) would of been about £2700 for Tyres, Transfer case and labour, had they used BMW it would of been over £4000.

After reading similar reviews I see it’s common that when a car has more or bigger issues than they initially thought they seem to get bodged through.
My advice would be to steer clear unless the car is flawless

Excellent Service and a Great Experience at Motor Group!

I recently purchased a vehicle from Motor Group, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. There was no pressure—just honest advice and clear information, which made the whole process feel smooth and stress-free.

They took the time to answer all my questions and helped me find the perfect car within my budget. The vehicle was in fantastic condition, exactly as described, and the handover was quick and efficient.

Amazing

I recently purchased a car from The Motor Group and I couldn't be happier with the experience! The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in helping me find the perfect car to fit my needs and budget.

Void at all cost.

People believe the horror stories.

The motor company own the warranty company as-well, and as a result it all comes out of the same pot, they will NOT fix your vehicle/return it. They lie and send out cars just about working.

They currently have my vehicle and the unprofessional managers Issy and Shauna will not release it. They have caused all of this to happen over £90, half of a diagnostic fee.

I am currently in the process of building a website about the company. And to gather as much information and evidence to make it publicly available in one place.

Extremely poor after sales.

Engine management light came on after 2 day's, along with false video of the car avoiding very torn search and alloys. Reported to them, they then gave the runaround awaiting their warranty to expire and I now have to find £300 to fix an issue they knew was present on the engine management light. They then finally sent an email to basically tell me to bog off and now totally ignore any contact.
Amateurs and con artists.

IT IS A MOT FAIL IF NO ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH REST OF LIGHTS WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY.
THIS SAID CAR WAS MEANT TO HAVE A NEW MOT A WEEK AGO.

Absolutely shocking.
I purchased a car on finance. I take full accountability that I only viewed the car on pictures because I live so far away.
On collection of the car, it was clear it had been in a crash and repaired. Car was hpi clear.
I will attach photos so you can see and make your own judgements.
Since having the car I have arranged to take the car to be fixed. With a date still over 2 weeks away.
So today I have had to take said car to an independent garage. Car over Revs and engine management light has been turned off before I brought car.
Rang the motor group explained situation they are willing to look at car but expect me to take the car with them and leave it there and expect me to travel 4 hours there and back with no help and no car they can lend me.
I am so annoyed I have had this car 1WEEK
they obviously new they sold me a car not for for purchase.
And now expect me to travel and take days off work with no help.
What’s even more annoyed they tried to offer me £99 to get it all fixed myself.
