Contemplating cosmetic surgery for the majority of men is a very isolated process. It's something we can rarely discuss with friends so we have to rely on ourselves to navigate through the exhausting amount of information online. Unfamiliarity and inexperience within the cosmetic/beauty industry can easily lead us up the wrong paths and end in us making horrible decisions, hindsight is not a wonderful thing in this industry. I previously had a consultation with another practice before going to Maitland, the consultation was ok but I left with more questions than i went in with and felt so underwhelmed upon leaving after contemplating and visualising it for so long. I believe in life it will always take one to truly know one and David at Maitland is a hairloss veteran, he initially suffered a bad surgery and since had amazing repair and restoration procedures. I didn't feel embarrassed talking to him because I knew he'd endured the same feelings of desperation and despair suffering hair loss. Also seeing (or not seeing) his results is a testimony in itself, to witness what could be achieved with the right Surgeon and treatment is astonishing and provides so much comfort and encouragement. After we spoke for about 25 minutes, discussing the industry, options and expectations etc Dr Ball arrived. As with David, Dr Ball has also had amazing graft surgery so again I felt no embarrassment being in his company and expressing exactly what I'd been going through. I instantly feel warmth from Dr Ball and he's also immediately likeable - it's a shame these things can't be done down the pub :) He thoroughly examined my hair and we discussed all the possibilities and aligned our expectation. After exploring and answering all of my questions and making sure i was happy Dr Ball left and David and I continued the conversation. About another 10 minutes of formal and informal chat and I was ready to go home and and process all of this possible life changing info. This is also supported by the website, the videos you can find online and I can hand on heart say the literature David provided is among the most honest and practical out there. Which is very important to read asap before you mis-judge what can be personally achieved as many factors contribute toward a final result. And just to put it out there, reputable Surgeons won't typically operate until all other options have been explored, this includes the taking of Propecia for approx 6 months. If you're experiencing hair loss and not ready or can't attend a consultation please see your GP to rule out other conditions and get prescribed Propecia to get a head start (no pun intended lol) That said, it's a free consultation and if you have concerns new or old i can't recommend more positively that you visit David and Dr Ball at Maitland Clinic. I hope this helps anybody considering action.

I had my first consultation a few weeks before the procedure itself. The Senior Patient Advisor, David Andersen was extremely helpful in going through the processes and answering all my queries whilst Dr Ball explained the realistic options available to me and I felt very informed throughout.
I can’t fault the procedure itself or the top quality care I received both during and after the procedure.

I had my consultation where I met with Dr Ball and David Anderson. Both were absolutely fantastic guys to talk with, and straight away was made to feel really comfortable. I was giving really honest advice in which I was recommended to start with taking Propecia, but discussions afterwards I decided to try the PRP treatment.

My three PRP treatments have all gone really smoothly, Dr Ball and the team again were superb and I was made to feel at ease all throughout the treatments. I have just had the third treatment so must wait and give it a chance to develop then re visit Dr ball to asses the results.

Prior to my consultation I had a lot of questions for the patient adviser David Anderson. He really put me at ease and made the whole experience pleasant from the start. I had my consultation and surgery in Portsmouth. The clinic is very nice and you are made to feel comfortable right away. After my initial discussion with David I was introduced to Dr Ball. Dr ball was very thorough with his assessment of my needs and unlike a previous clinic I had visited was much more realistic with the design of my hairline and explaination of my potential future hair loss. Dr ball made me feel confident of his skill and I trusted his judgment. He also recommended I take propecia.
I had my surgery of 1000 grafts by FUE about 3 weeks ago. The whole team were fantastic and made me feel very comfortable all day. It is really important to follow the aftercare instructions, as I did, as I feel this gives you the greatest chance of a successful transplant. Within 24 hours the pain was very minimal and recovery was much better than expected. Now I look forward to seeing the full result in 12 months.
Overall the Miatland clinic were brilliant. I would definitely recommend and I would happily go back in the future if I needed further treatment.

During the consultation, David makes you feel at ease; you chat about your hair...obviously, what the effects and solutions are, and what the next best steps are for you personally. David brought Dr Edward Ball in to have a look at my hair as well, and to get his opinion. Both of them are friendly, professional and completely sympathetic; they actually care about your hair and your wellbeing. I'm looking forward to feeling confident again.
