Amazing Product and 2 for 1 Insulation…
The Product:
Mr Sprayfoam via the the Energy Saving Store in Dingwall, are not the cheapest, but the most cost effective in my view. The reason being their underfloor spray foam comes with a 25 year guarantee back by Synthesia/Kingspan. The is 'open cell' which means it does not hold moisture like closed cell, so will not cause rotting of timbers, it’s non-flammable (I’ve tried burning it and as soon as you remove the flame it stops burning - it’s amazing). As a retired Chartered Surveyor, I appreciate all insulation foams are not equal, but this product is I believe very good - having interrogated Synthesia the manufacturers of the foam before we instructed The Energy Saving Store first.
Installation:
We were concerned it would smell, however this was only a slight odour during the installation and that quickly disappeared. With any building works things happen and schedules change. But David at The Energy Saving Store worked around us and in the end, and because the guys were so courteous caring and professional we had no reservations in leaving them the keys to finish the installation while we went on holiday. Wayne and William, the installers, worked so hard and Simon of Synthesia oversaw the works.
Why Energy Saving Store?
Yes there are other companies, but these are the only ones I could find that are a fully accredited Green Deal Installer and provide a 25 year guarantee backed by Synthesia/Kingspan. The other key selling point for us, because its open cell spray foam, which creates a thermal barrier, it insulates the floor and if you are lucky as in our case they can also insulate all the radiator and water pipes under the floor too, if they are appropriate. So not only is the floor warmer, our radiators heat up a lot lot quicker and the hot water in the taps gets hotter quicker, without having to waste lots of water waiting for the hot water coming through. We actually have hot water in the taps now! For us, it was two insulation jobs for the price of one - making it a cost effective solution. Would I use The Energy Saving Store again? Definitely, we are already discussing the next energy saving solution.
