Don’t Count on Tekton’s Warranty
I purchased Tekton partly because of their warranty. Their website advertises “No Time Limits” and says, “If your tool doesn’t work like it should, let us know and we’ll make it right.”
Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience.
My Tekton 1/2” torque wrench broke, and Tekton told me the model had been discontinued and they no longer had a direct replacement. Instead of replacing it with the current equivalent, they offered me $75 in store credit. The current torque wrench is approximately $125, meaning I have to spend another $50 to replace my broken wrench.
When I questioned this, Tekton told me:
“The warranty is for the tool you have, not the tool that you’d like.”
That response was especially disappointing and, in my opinion, condescending. I wasn’t asking for some unrelated upgrade. I wanted a working 1/2” torque wrench to replace the one that broke.
Tekton also told me there was “no escalation process in place.”
So if you’re buying Tekton because of their warranty, you better hope your tool doesn’t break after they discontinue it or replace it with a newer model.
Yes, Tekton gave me $75 in credit, but that credit isn’t enough to replace my broken torque wrench without giving Tekton more money.
For a company advertising “No Time Limits” and “we’ll make it right,” I expected much better.
Based on my experience, Tekton’s warranty is a joke, and I won’t purchase another Tekton product.
