Nearly 40 years ago, I lived and studied in Japan and Shanghai with some of the greatest teachers in East Asia. During that time I learnt the vital part played in business and martial arts of introductions. During my time in Shanghai, I studied with students of the late master Chu Gui Ting but with the passing of that generation, I was left to fend for myself. Whilst searching the internet one day, I found to my surprise footage of Master Chu’s grandson, Chu Yu Cheng and his link to StudyMartialArts.org.
Understanding the importance of introductions ( through which I had previously contacted my old teachers), I was more than happy to contact the group. I spoke to David, the CEO, who contacted Master Chu, made several suggestions re accommodation, training and even how to get around my long unused Mandarin. Every query or request I had was promptly handled by David and I have no hesitation in recommending StudyMartialArts.org to students wanting access to studying Asian fighting arts with outstanding teachers.

StudyMartialArts are the best at what they do, no doubt about it. As an instructor I have run 5 tours to China using this company over the past 7 years and they have been fantastic every time. David, the head honcho, never disappoints with the most suitable recommendations, the right locations and the best masters. All my students have a cracking time on the tours and it’s really all thanks to David and his team. I think the most impressive thing about it is that it doesn’t cost you, the student, or in my case, the visiting instructor/student (always a student!), anything extra to go through David’s StudyMartialArts company than it would to go to the teacher or school directly. They get their commission from the hosting party, not you, and they have extensively researched many schools and teachers all across China and the Far East to find the absolute best. The question isn’t should I go through StudyMartialArts to find the right place for me to train? The question you should ask is why wouldn’t you go through StudyMartialArts? It’s a no brainer as far as I’m concerned!

David is a really cool lovely dude and he was a really great help every step of the way, from orienting me in Beijing, to putting me in touch with tai chi masters just to pass the time before I went to my actual month long training up a mountain.

Only problem is my stories of the place sound like first draft scripts of 1970s Kung Fu movie. Which is, of course, how it should be.

I got in touch with study martial arts and from the beginning David helped me with everything I needed. From what style, location, living arrangements and even some little tips on what some masters are like.

Quick in responce, knowledgable and very helpful.

Made my visit and experience something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
