What a joke!
I have stored many quizzes for years, and all the sudden prices went from 60$ to... 199$ Yes, you read it right !! Of course, without a pro subscription, you can't access all the hard work you've made previously !!
This is the worst Ed Tech decision I have seen in many years.
Run like hell from this platform.

I used Socrative in my classroom for many years due to its convenience. Not only had I stored up years of quizzes, but it allowed me to assess my students quickly. The issue however was the drastic price hike. My subscription went from $62 to $200, and even with "coupons" and "sales," it was still over $150. This price also did not come with any significant changes to the platform. Socrative, despite its convenient tools, is honestly less engaging and more antiquated than other cheaper programs that provide a similar service. I refuse to be price gouged, so off to cheaper and more engaging Kahoot, Nearpod, or Classtime.

My subscription was on auto-renew after I retired in 2019 for a year or two, because I thought I might use it for substitute teaching. It's been five years though and I haven't done substitute teaching since 2021. I went in today 4/9/24 to finally deactivate the account, and I was unable to:
1) access any old quizzes (a few hundred)
2) download or delete any old content
3) change my password (Google warned my password was involved in a data breach)
4) deactivate my account

Soon the site locked up, and I realized I was no longer logged in. I tried to log in again, but then the website said my account no longer existed.

Thankfully, I found after some research into my old credit card statements for the card I used for this account, I found my card had expired years ago, and I hadn't been charged for this account in several years.

I can't recommend this site to anyone. It now seems rather scammy to me. Reminds me of what happened to PhotoBucket.

I have built up a large bank of resources over many years.
Unfortunately in the space of one academic year the pricing structure has changed so drastically that I cannot afford the resource (I based my budget submission over 6 months ago on the price I paid last year, plus a buffer for inflation); the Pro subscription has gone up from 62.99 to 199.99 and even the new 'essentials' subscription is 119.99 - still almost a 50% increase in the budget I have been allocated for this resource - no way could I have budgeted for such a high increase. And, without paying to upgrade I am now locked out of my bank of quizzes after being a customer for over 10 years. Very poor service.

I have been a socrative user for 8-9 years. I have built up lots of quizzes. They recently tripled their asking price and locked all my quizzes that I made ( surely there is a copyright issue here.)
Their asking price is ridiculous now. It was around $79 but now for the same features you have to pay $199. The lower version is not enough rooms, 5 for Essentials, 30 for pro. Loved socrative before, moving to one of the alternatives now (try classtime). Absolutely appalled that they locked my quizzes. Free version is now pointless too. They seem not to care about the older customers. I will be following up the quizzes copyright issue.
UPDATED: I followed it up with them, they own everything you make on socrative and its buried in the terms and conditions. So my 8 years of quizzes are now gone to Socrative. Avoid.

All my reports that are older than 30 days are locked. Seems unfair given that 30 days ago, the quizzes were free to host and free to get reports on. Been using this for 8-9 years but this new pay wall is completely unfair on schools that have very little money to invest. Schools will just turn to MS Forms instead which is a real shame

Socrative have removed the archive function, so now all previous quizes are now hostage to you paying full fee as they the cannot be edited, only the "top 5" can be now edited. This is extortion and I would not recommend Socrative as a viable tool in the furure for education.

First of all, thank you for such a nice and sustainable app I've been teaching with for about two years now.

However, please, reconsider my suggestion that I sent to Rachel on the 6th of April last year.
She promptly replied then promising she would make sure to record my feedback about a time indication on quizzes for students, or a countdown timer option on all quizzes.

Still I haven't received any further response on this one as well as on the previous request about a bug with timers when running 2 Space Races at once.

I love this platform. I use it for everything in my class that needs to be turned in. I find this product to be one of the best products that I have tried.

Features I would love to see on Socrative.
1) The ability to have two possible correct answers on a multiple choice question. (Ex: The answer is marked correct if the student chooses either A or C) Some questions can be a bit "ambiguous." So it would help to have this option.
2) The ability to remove individual students from an active exam. If a student "crashes" an exam, it would be helpful to remove just that student without interrupting the whole class.
3) The ability to create a "pool" of fifty questions for one topic, and have Socrative randomly select 30 different questions out of that pool for any given exam on that topic. (So that each of my three Psychology classes get a significant number of different questions whilst all testing the same topic)
4) The ability to add short video clips to any question. (One minute long?)

This program is working great as we work our way through the pandemic.
I've wanted to set up a program like this for a long time, Socrative has been the answer. It's easy to create tests and students enjoy testing, if you can believe that.

I use Socrative every day as a Warm Up in my classroom. It is a Check for Understanding (CFU) for prior day's direct instruction, retrieval practice for important facts, and a way to plan differentiation and flexible small group instruction. I also use Socrative for polls and Exit Tickets on occasion, and more frequently for quizzes that are limited to DoK levels 1 and 2. During COVID distance learning, we have been using it as a CFU for attendance as well. Because my school has purchased a Pro account, I can archive my Socrative quizzes adn reuse them. I can also compare data across school years by pulling reports from previous classes and comparing current results to prior years. Overall, it is a top five tool in my classroom!

Socrative is an excellent tool for teachers. Easy to use, clear,... And the people behind this excellent site are just great! Excellent communication with the users. Great job, thanks a lot!

I feel really grateful to come across Socrative some years ago. This app helps my teaching process to a great extent both in students' practice and also in testing my students' achievement. Creating tests on Socrative is fun and fast. I like it being so varied: multiple choice questions, short answers, true/false questions and even inserting pictures as illustrations are all possible.
This application makes the teaching-learning process highly enjoyable. very easy.
The only problem is that to get access to other teachers' tests is very complicated, if not impossible. This process could be a bit improved.
Otherwise, I could recommend Socrative to all teachers.

Dependable, easy to compose assessments, student-friendly.

I use Socrative daily in my classroom, and it is highly effective in giving me real-time formative assessment data. I swear by it.

Wish there was a draw it slide to see the student work when solving math equations.

Wish there was a way to give feedback on a question: maybe a thumbs up or down, or a heart emoji

My only knock on this site is you can't put a timer on a test. If they had that it would be 5 stars easy.
