Smartsheet can decide if they want more money from you whenever they feel like it, giving zero to minimal heads up, and you will find out about it after they charged you, holding your money with no refund policy, basically holding you (your money) hostage, with nobody to talk too, ignoring you completely. Borderline criminal.
Stay away, it's not like the product if best in class or anything.

Smartsheet is a great product, but the new pricing tied to changing permissions levels is damaging how teams use it. I use Smartsheet myself, introduce it to businesses, and train teams to get value from it. Now I see clients rationing access, cutting back edit rights, and becoming more limited in how they share—all to avoid costs ... and unexpected costs. Not good for a collaborative tool!

If you click "Unsubscribe" it gives you a message stating that it may take 10 days to take effect ..... 3 months later, and still near-daily spam to people who don't want the emails. If you want to annoy (and ultimately lose) customers, then sign up for this company! The 1.4 star rating makes sense now.
This company scammed me
This company scammed me. Beware. I got a "free photoshoot" email from Uber, clicked on the link, which brought me to Smartshoot's website. I typed in my CC details (I assumed in case I wanted extra editing on the photos or something) and then they ended up charging me $125 after the shoot for no reason.
Hours on the phone with the company, and they won't do anything about it. They offer no explanation. So bizarre. Hopefully you've done your research if you're looking on here. Do not use them. Happy to answer more questions about this. You can find me by searching my name.

Would rate it 0/5 if I could. 0 support. Our account executive changed 3 times in the span of 6 months without us being told, we had to discover it everytime by emailing our old account executive, getting no answer, reaching out to other contacts in SmartSheet and then we would learn about the change. We were promised some rebates when they changed the billing model, never got them. Renewal management is a pain in the ass to deal with. They just seem very dishonest. As soon as you sign with them do not expect any type of support except for being sold more product.

I have written to shut down my account twice, and they say it is solved, but then I am charged again. This is a scam company.-
Started well, but locks you in and gives you a worse product
Initially enjoyed Smartsheet for its automation features and ability to collaborate easier with external contractors and new vendors. Over time, they made these features more expensive and barely improved their software.
This year, when asked to reduce the number of users on contract due to redundancies in my team, they locked us into the previous year's contract, citing a "Negative Option" rule already outlawed by the FCC in the USA. This is unethical and not only that, they tried to INCREASE the number of users secretly whilst also charging more per user. This cost us 5K but I have learned and we will never be going back.

- sold a package costing over 75000 dollars
Was assured of sheer security for the business plan
- says on the website that deleted sheets can be restored in less than 30 days
- in the past when a sheet was accidentally deleted it was retrieved
- we had a hack and data and templates worth hundreds of thousands of not millions in terms of hours to replace and work lost was deleted .
- out account manager told us to retrieve the sheets we need to be in the ' enterprise plan '
- the front desk did confirm that the sheets were retrievable ans connected us to tech support who retrieved one of the sheets for us
- however it would take us a long time to retrieve all the sheets
- we were told that the sheets were not retrievable which is obviously not true
- account manager is not calling us back
- despite paying 20000 per year and the severity of the hack , this has been the service
- the website says you can retrieve them for thirty days
- tech support says the same thing
- the database where they are stored is listed online
- we still haven't heard back from our account manager
- we would like some herp
- the devastation that your company has caused after we have put our trust in you is unimaginable
- our reasons for using smartsheets was for the ability to retrieve data if there is a hack
- am seeing if the data can be retrieved through legal means at this point but I am assuming smart sheets just plans to wait for the 30 day period to pass
-The account manager appears to be avoiding us instead of answering questions and helping us find solutions . For example we can retrieve the important sheets manually through tech support .
Disappointed by Poor Service and Pricing Practices
I’m genuinely disappointed by my experience with Smartsheet. The main issue? Their pricing structure and upselling tactics feel more like a cash grab than customer care. Their website clearly advertises the Business plan as $19 per member/month for 3+ members, yet somehow we’re being pushed to pay for four seats — even though we only need one (maybe two at most).
When I questioned this, I was told they were “including additional Members to keep your overall cost in line with what you previously paid.” That logic doesn’t hold up. Why shouldn’t a small business like mine benefit from lower rates when our needs are smaller?
To make matters worse, the solution offered was a “one-time courtesy refund” for these extra seats (that I have to request after our renewal date) — as if we should be grateful for having to chase down a refund for something we didn’t ask for.
This experience has been frustrating, disappointing, and frankly, not acceptable. All we’re asking is to be charged the published rate for three users — nothing more, nothing less.

DO NOT USE this Companies Products! I work in a small company. We had a sales person call us and convince us to give their product a try for a year. We used the product and it worked. We did feel it was over priced for what it did though. The software was set to renew and at 9:00 pm the last night of renewal we received an email from a different sales rep stating that our price was to increase 65% for the year. Within 3 minutes we responded back and said this will not work for us. Way too expensive. Over the next month we sent multiple emails to the new rep stating that the price was too expensive for us. Finally after the month we had a phone call with them. Again, said it would not work and we wanted to cancel. Because of HIS delay in responding back we were past the 30 day cancellation window. To make a long story short over the next six months we filled out multiple forms with accounting, customer service and spent hours on the phone explaining and sending email trails showing the process we had gone through to cancel. Each phone call we were told it "shouldn't" be a problem. I thought is was finally complete when we received a statement from the accounting department with a "0" balance. Whew. Almost immediately we found out they had turned us over to a brutal collection agency. After discussing with our legal counsel we paid for a full year of service which we did not use and had no plans to use it. He said we would spend more fighting in court. They are a fraudulent and dishonest company. I feel they work in conjunction with the legal team to take advantage of customer. RUN AWAY QUICK and spread the word to avoid this company.

Don’t use them. I’ve been a loyal customer for many years and previously chose the platform over others that are in fact much better. Writing this review specifically because they changed the settings without properly notifying their customers and even though I’m a month to month subscriber they are trying to charge me an absorbent and accumulative amount after 1 year for people to simply view the sheets shared without my knowledge or approval whatsoever. The support is pathetic, waited a week for any response to basically be given a AI generated response. SCAM! Cancelling my account and moving to the better alternative!
Lost a lot of money when not even using…
Lost a lot of money when not even using their service due to a wierd login quirk. They put me down as an EU user, but they didn't tell me i then have to manually change my region when logging in to see my subscription. So when i went to cancel, it said i already was on the free plan (because i logged in as the default region). But they kept charging me because apparently if i log in as EU, it shows my subcription, and if i log in normally (i.e. put in my email and password like any other 'normal' site) it shows that i'm on a free subscription (which i'm not, so that's VERY deceitful!)
Poor customer service and lack of clarity on new license charges and conditions
Smartsheet was one of the few software options available at my company, and at first, it seemed like an ideal choice due to its many great features. When speaking with Smartsheet representatives, I was assured that users who only needed to view content in the workspaces I created would not be charged. However, just two months later, I was informed that all users would now require paid access for both “view” and “edit” permissions starting this year.
I’ve requested an estimated price four times and am still waiting for a response. Additionally, it was never made clear that many essential features and add-ons come at an extra cost—even with a business license. Features like data offloading, uploading, Dynamic View, resource management, and various apps all require additional payments, and the costs are steep. For instance, Dynamic View alone costs nearly GBP6,000, making it unaffordable for small businesses.
While Smartsheet itself is a powerful tool, its pricing structure lacks transparency, and customer support has been disappointing. The lack of upfront clarity around costs feels misleading, and I’m particularly frustrated by the poor communication regarding pricing. I’m still waiting for more details, but given the unexpected costs and lackluster support, we will likely need to explore alternative software with more competitive pricing and better customer service.

I'm upset- I cancelled my account two years ago but the Smartsheet said there is no record of that. Unbeknownst to me, my SS account auto renewed annually. Unfortunately, we did not catch the annual charge. Then we called in to cancel the account and ask for a refund but they denied the refund (even though there was no record of us using the account for two years). So we canceled it again over the phone. However, I found out a couple of months later that they didn't cancel it even after that request. So we called again. They said I had to cancel it and that they couldn't cancel it. So, I deleted my account- hopefully that will stop them from charging my account again. Seems like a poopy move from a poopy company and I don't recommend them at all. Also, the program, when I was using was very complex and time consuming to maintain. Don't recommend it for that also.
