We booked dog training at pride park…

We booked dog training at pride park derby for our 6 month old boxer who pulls on his lead and is very reactive. Kay the woman who said she had 30 years experience said she could sort the problem out. After the first class we realised she had no interest in the 2 reactive dogs at all only the small well behaved dogs. She offered no advise or help for the best solution. Next 2 lessons were the same and I confronted her as did the other owner with his reactive dog. She turned and said she couldnt train dogs when they pull on the lead like

ours. I pointed out thats what we told her at the start and she said it was fine. She then said well you are not getting a refund. After complaining we did get a refund. She is a con woman and unless you have an already calm well behaved very small dog she will stick you at the back of the room and ignores you. Don't be ripped off by this woman

Just read the low stars first

Just read what everybody else says who give this place 1 star, that should tell you all you need to know. My animal was not cared for by these people who charged £3500; they do not tell you things and hide issues, then keep asking that you give them another day at extortionate prices. There needs to be a contact group set up for people who have had issues with this company. I have read the stories of people being over charged and its disgraceful. Read their reviews!

Scarsdale/Pride in Derby

Scarsdale/Pride in Derby.
My Rottie Reggie was referred via my own vet as they were unsure of problem. Reggie was initially looked after by Tate and she was amazing, they found the problem a mass on adrenal gland but unfortunately when I went to collect him the following day Reggie suffered a perforated ulcer which ruptured leading to sepsis, the team were amazing. Reggie was rushed straight in and emergency surgery completed, he remained at Scarsdale in ICU and we had hourly visits daily as we live in Staffordshire along with updates at least twice daily from vets. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately after a week he declined again and could not go through further surgery and we were given time with him prior to him slipping away. My heart is truly broken but I can honestly say that Reggie was given the best care throughout the roller coaster week and I will forever be grateful to the whole team at pride park but I will always be grateful to Wendy, Tate, Laura the ICU team and also front of house, you treated my boy with so much care & love
Myself and my mum would not hesitate to take our pets there in the future as the hour and a half drive would be worth the care received

Incompetency killed the cat

We (me and partner) took our cat here due to having a swollen tummy, we knew something wasn’t right. Took him to good ol’ Scarsdale where we were greeted by a pretty rude and judgmental Karen (actual name). She pretty much waved off our concerns and said it was a chest infection. We walked away from that vets with unanswered questions and it just didn’t sit right, not to mention how rude she was made it even more reason to believe she was incompetent. We went to a different vets a few days later as his condition didn’t improve. New vets detected the problem straight away, however, it was already too late. This could have been easily prevented.

So if anyone actually gives a shit about their pet that they love, just make sure you read this small story before you decide because it could cost them their time, and ultimately their life.

Bonus: I’ve also heard 4 other horror stories from people that live around the area about this very same vets. 👀

PS you are my first ever bad review. That takes some doing. Congrats.

Worst vets ever

Terrible vets who don't care about your animals!!!! I went to the one at park farm where they missed important issues with my cat and he died less than a week later. Issues that could have been prevented and stopped. I even changed vets after my first appointment as I didn't feel confident or comfortable with the treatment of care provided to my pet. They completely dismissed everything that happened and refused to take accountability. DO NOT go to this vets if you care about the health and safety of your pet.

I would like to express my deepest…

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Tate Marin for the incredible care, dedication, and professionalism shown in treating BSH kitten Romeo.

When we were going through one of the most stressful and uncertain times, Tate’s expertise, calm approach, and genuine compassion made all the difference. Her ability to assess the situation quickly and guide the treatment gave Romeo a real chance — and ultimately, she saved him.

Throughout the process, she was attentive, thoughtful, and clearly deeply invested in Romeo’s recovery. It never felt routine — it felt personal, and that is something truly rare.

Romeo is now active, growing, and enjoying life again, and I am absolutely certain that without Tate Marin, the outcome could have been very different.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Scarsdale Vets for their support, care, and professionalism throughout this journey. The entire team has been excellent.

Thank you again for giving Romeo his life back.

Disgusting

Disgusting ! A friend went with their dog 4 times , saw 4 different "vets" if you can call them that ! The dog was very poorly they didn't appear to have a clue what was wrong with the poor soul! The problem came back with a vengeance a few weeks later so they had to go back to be given a hefty dose of meds several times as much as they got the first time ! They weren't given enough first time round .so the problem Iv also heard about a couple who were told their dog had rabies but she really hadn't she'd got a stick stuck in her throat 🙄that was the first thing I said something stuck ! But a supposed vet couldn't work that out , so the authorities were calling the owners saying they were going to seize the poor dog & kill her ! Finally they convinced them it was a foreign body in the throat & they operated ! Date of experience is @ that day !

Extortionate

Extortionate, always suggest more tests which cost extra. Unnecessary drugs. Corporate targets over the health of your pet. Choose an independent vet as I will be doing in future.

Stapenhill branch professional and caring

I rang the Stapenhill branch and they got me in pretty quick for emergency appoint, the vet showed genuine care for my dog and didn't rush me to chose options. He went through all the scenarios for treatment, costs, what could happen and was gentle and calm when I was so upset. The receptionists were great too and I was much impressed with the quality of dealing with us owners.

Terrible dispensary services

Called dispensary for repeat prescriptions as I need to travel aboard in two days. I did it make clear yesterday and did not receive the phone call from the vet. Today I called again and apparently they do nothing in it. Finally I get hold of dispensary, but the response is terrible and layback.

We had a very positive experience at…

We had a very positive experience at the pride park Scarsdale vets. We had to take our miniature dachshund as an emergency appointment on a Sunday. He had swallowed a toy. As we arrived, my partner stayed outside with our dog as he is very anxious and reactive to new people or situations. We were told that the vet would come outside to us. After 2 minutes the vet came out to us and explained what they would have to do, we all agreed and he walked our dog inside. He was in and out within half an hour. The vet was super supportive and informative. And the lady I spoke to on the phone was also very calming, as I was slightly panicked. We were really happy with their service.

If you want proper diagnosis & treatment dont go here!

Listen to what these people are telling you. They are not lying. This practice does not prioritise nor care for your animals.

My dachshund was hopping on her right hind leg since march 2025, didn’t seem to be in pain but i knew she wasn’t right. Resume july 2025 she had a abnormally low knee placement & it was attempting to luxate & rubbing on her femur causing her alot of pain thanks to an amazing 2nd opinion orthopaedic specialist (diagnosis NO THANKS to scarsdale fyi)
Since being home my dog has been very anxious & distressed when i leave the room. She has never had separation anxiety so its very heartbreaking to see her this way, she is on crate rest after her surgey and is not allowed to walk bare in mind. I asked scarsdale for some calming medication so i can leave the room to atleast have a shower or bathroom break without her jumping around in her cage and doing damage to her stitches. They refused to give me any without her being seen for an appointment . Weird considering she is on strict rest and yesterday coming back from major knee surgery, plus it being 30 degrees weather I explained this and they weren't having it.
So then i rung the 2nd opinion vet that did her surgery and asked if they could contact scarsdale to confirm she was ok to have the medication ( she had already been administered some post surgery cause she wouldn't settle) they contacted scarsdale and told me that scarsdale wont authorise her even though i could just drive back to the 2nd opinion and they would give me the medication anyway just saves me travelling all that way when i can go to Scarsdale which is 10 minutes from me.
Scarsdale vets gave me 2 options- they said and i quote ‘you can either pay out of hours for an appointment today or wait till Monday’ so i have to pay £300 odd just so i can get her some meds to calm her down after having a operation on her leg.

That isn't even the end of it, when i first tried to get a diagnosis for my dog they suspected luxation patella then booked in for and xray, which they advised to confirm this. I booked in and dropped her off at 8am, i didnt get her back till 4.30pm and she looked absolutely terrible. I didnt think anything of it as i knew she had a stressful day. When handing her over it was one of the nurses, not a vet and got no explanation of what the xrays showed despite costing around £800 they said they'd ring me. I didn’t know what to do, shall i rest her? No walks/playing, did she need medicine? I had no idea and they were completely unhelpful. 3 days waiting and i finally got a phone-call after pestering them. They said in a nutshell they couldn’t find anything and suspected muscle tear/injury/sprain. So then referred her to hydrotherapy & physio which i was doing constantly for 2 months, no improvement.

My dog was now showing signs of pain and my physio lady (not scarsdale) told me i should see an orthopaedic specialist & stop hydro & physio until we know what is causing the pain. She had a hydro appointment a couple days before this with a different lady than usual (my dogs hydro was with Scarsdale fyi) she detected the pain in her leg and put her on the treadmill anyway, i saw she was really struggling to use the leg and she just agreed. I didnt know any better im putting my trust into these ‘professionals’ my physio then told me after showing the video of her struggling that the hydro should not have continued and she was doing more damage than good potentially, this made my blood boil.

Going back to her xray. The 2nd opinion orthopaedic specialist looked at her xrays and immediately spotted the problem, that her knee was very low. He took her for a ct scan she was done in 3 hours and my dog came out super happy to see me and was her normal self which took me by surprise because after spending the day at scarsdale she was absolutely traumatised, all her eyes were sunk she was constantly crying, i had to take the night off of work cause she was really shaken up. God knows what happened but she really hated being there. Compared to coming out of her surgery she was also super happy in herself and wagging her tail when she saw me, just makes you think doesn't it.

In conclusion when my dog is at Scarsdale i felt so worried and anxious the whole time she was there. And deep down i knew something wasn't right with them. Compared to the treatment she received elsewhere, i was at ease and really trusted them with my girl. If you want proper treatment for dog/ cat or animal id seriously push to go elsewhere.

A really good experience.

Read reviews for this vets last night and as a result I was nervous taking my dog for an appointment (neuological opinion) at the Scarsdale Pride vetinary centre in Derby.
I have to say my experience was a really good one.
The vet (David) was excellent.
He explained everything really well and gave us options for ongoing care and investigations. He and the nurses were very kind and friendly.
I live in Sheffield so came for a specialist opinion for my dog but if we were closer I would be very happy to use Scarsdale all the time.

Terrible place

Terrible place. Paid £140 for an emergency appointment and had to sit with a distressed dog who was in pain for 40 mins after my appointment time while watching everyone who came in after being seen. Reception were completely incompetent and the vet Anders left me thinking I will never come here again.

Grievance / complaint against your…

Grievance / complaint against your Derby Pride branch.

07/04/25 I came home from work & my 3-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier daisy was bringing up pure blood.

Unfortunately, our vet Highland Vets had no one available & we could not wait for the emergency vets to open at 6.30pm so we called your Stapenhill branch, they could also not see her so booked us in with you.

By the time we got to you she had brought up a large amount of blood 7 times total. One of your reception team said they see this all the time & normal!!!

After seeing the vet, she said she would keep Daisy in but when discussing how we proceed with insurance etc she changed her mind gave her sickness injection & sent us home!! Saying see your normal vet the next day.

The next day Highland vets battled all day to stabilize her for us to bring back to Derby for blood transfusion. She did not make it & DIED in my arms.

She should have been kept in with you, your vet spoke over us & did not listen (we tried to show her pictures of the blood she did not look), I did not say I want to take her home SHE told me to, so I trusted her.

I want an outcome out this this ruined me I am heartbroken beyond belief & this could / should have 100% been prevented!!

I usually go to Park farm surgery and…

I usually go to Park farm surgery and see the same vet who gives excellent treatment but when this vet is not available the treatment is usually very poor. I took my Siamese cat Gracie to Scarsdale pride park vets a couple of weeks ago because no one was available at Scarsdale Park Farm. I felt she needed a broad spectrum antibiotic urgently as she had very bad cystitis. The vet examined Gracie and said it was against the law to give antibiotics without her first having a urine test and she could lose her license. This was not true, which she admitted later to me on the telephone, it was an internal Scarsdale ruling. It took me a further 2 days to get the sample from Gracie, it was then the weekend and bank holiday Monday so the test results could not be done. It took 7 days in all to get antibiotics for poor Gracie. When the vet rang me 6 days later with the results she told me I could pick up a broad based antibiotic and I challenged her about not giving them sooner this is when she admitted it was an internal policy not to give antibiotics before getting the test results. So it took 10 days of antibiotics to get Gracie to eat again. I am still concerned about her that it may have affected her kidneys. Time will tell.

We have been using this vet for about…

We have been using this vet for about 2-3 years and not once felt happy. This time was horrendous. My cat on the floor really stressed out. After an hour we were getting nowhere. The whole thing was a disaster. The vet gave an injection but most of that was on her fur. We won't be going back. As others have said. It's about the money and not any thought about the pet. Never been to a vet this bad before. Stay away from this lot. My cat still very ill but dare not chance it with them.😞😞😰😨

Only care about money, money, money

There are a couple of great individual vets but as a company, Scarsdale only care about money and their policies are geared to getting as much money as possible.

10 minute checkup the dog doesn't need, another £65. Always recommend the most expensive, extortionately priced procedures and medicines with huge markups.

Don't take into account the pet's individual circumstances but by default recommend the most expensive unnecessary procedures and then try and guilt you into it even though you know it's going to be worse for your dog's welfare. Had a second opinion from 2 other vets who disagreed with Scarsdale who would rather us just pay them the most money possible.

Get a 10 minute checkup as part of their expensive pet plan but when they only have a nurse available who needs to call a vet in to look at something, they charge another £65 even though it's usually a vet who sees the dog!

Absolutely everything possible has a charge and it's always a lot more money than other vets. Considerably more expensive than other vets and it feels so money orientated you lose trust in them.
