Ripple's website information made it easy to invest in their wind farm. It's a type of investment I've been looking for, for a long time now. Much easier than getting solar panels. I'm looking for... Mehr ansehen

A good way to go green, but definitely not a good investment. Why? Because even though the return is about 6-8%, you don't get your original investment back. So really it's terrible. Just a bit of a gimmicky money spinner for the founders most likely. They gotta put food on the table somehow I suppose.
Response: Thank you. I appreciate your perspective. What I'm saying is that it's far more effective for the customer to put aside that X amount that they'd spend on Ripple into an actual investment vehicle, and spend the return on green energy from an existing supplier. It might even be greener as setting up a new wind/solar farm is not a carbon-neutral endeavour.
Update to response: If it's not an investment, then what is it? A hobby? Put a sock in it bro. Folks would be better investing in a company that actually makes a difference and then using those proceeds to live greener. As it is, Ripple is not a good deployment of capital.

Hi there I am interested in joining ripple. But I am concerned about how long it takes for the projects to get connected to the grid. There has been Many debates at government level about the backlog of connections to the grid.
Do you foresee this becoming an issue with ripple?
Also what is the average time it takes once construction is complete till connection to the grid.
Thankyou in advance for the response.

Happy to report that I'm still very happy with Ripple. I am a co-owner of Graig Fatha, the UKs first cooperative wind farm - myself and 905 other people receive bill credits every month for what our share of the turbine generates. I only purchased a small amount of the wind turbine (equivalent to around 25% of my usage at the time), but have been very happy with what I've received back. But for me the project is more about putting money directly into green energy, which is something I'm passionate about. Nothing like putting your money where your mouth is.
I was so impressed with the first wind turbine that i invested a much larger amount in the second project (Kirk Hill). Although this won't be operational until late this/early next year, the team do a great project of keeping owners up to date with build progress and after seeing how well Graig Fatha has gone so far, I'm looking forward to it!
I've also invested a small amount in Derrill Hill, the UK's first shared solar project, and am looking to see how that progresses too.
So far I am really loving everything that Ripple does, and everything they stand for. And I couldn't recommend them enough.

This is a scam. They promise 25% off your electricity bills, but it's actually about 3% in exchange for your £3,000 investment!

Moaners obviously do not do their homework. It is an investment in green energy for the future not a get rich quick scheme. Having had solar on my house for years my move to an apartment block meant I could not repeat the exercise so Ripple has allowed me to enter the solar power field again.

At first glance, this looks like a great investment. But when you read the fine print you only get a small discount off your bill, 6.1p is what they're quoting in their current project. So say I invest 4k or whatever to generate "100%" of my electricity from this investment, it gets me a whooping 6p a kwh off the 34p or so that I'm currently paying... I understand why, and this may still be a decent investment, but I think they need to clarify that you're still paying a lot for this electricity you invested to generate to get to your home.

I paid £25 reservation fee couple of months ago but I've just realised this is a very bad investment as the online calculator has shown me, I will make £200 profit on potential £7,000 investment in so many years. The price of general energy will go down in the future and this might even level up or cost more.
It's unfortunate I can't get my reservation fee back. Not interested in this project or your future projects.

Antwort von Ripple Energy
Take a deposit , when scheme is announced they then tell you it will be 2 years or more before any electricity will be produced , it is not a viable investment . Then will not refund the deposit ,after an exchange of a few emails they eventually refunded my money

I have just come on here to look at the feedback. It's interesting how most of the people who have commented and provided positive feedback have done so on multiple occasions, this looks like people have been paid to provide feedback. Not very honest! Why would people comment on the same subject more than once?

Just watched the Webinar for round 3 and the solar farm. Registered back in November and webinar just confirmed what a brilliant idea this is. It's not just about making money. That's not why I have now bought shares. Its about stable green electricity and doing something positive to guarantee clean renewable power for the future and to lower my personal carbon footprint for future generations.

Paid £25 for a reservation. Still waiting to hear what the hype is all about. Everything so far is very vague and all the numbers for generation appear to be wet finger in the wind estimates. I don’t think I have enough confidence in this to proceed. Have asked for my reservation fee back but as it is past the 14 day period, they don’t want to know. If they can’t act in good faith with £25 now, how can I trust them with £5k. If I am not going to invest now, I certainly won’t be in the next 5 years.

Give £2000 to assume that you "might" start getting your return after 2025 (like there are no delays in all constructions, let alone other factors affecting the completion of a project like this,,,financial etc) THEN get the return of your money in 15 years !!! Completion of the project in 40 Years,,,if you are now in your 50s good luck in your 100 yo birthday present !

I am just signing up for the 3rd project. I live in a very modern and efficient house, and will shortly have a large bank of solar panels with batteries fitted. However, I was looking for options for wind power for the winter months. A home turbine isn't a feasible option, so this will give me the same effect, but as part of a cooperative, rather than as an individual. Brilliant idea.
This is a great idea and we are keen to invest in your next wind farm.
Our solar panels produce about 75% of the electricity we use, which means that we only pay for our net grid use, about 2300 units.
We would ideally like to invest enough to cover the winter deficit, when our solar panels are not generating much but our heat pump is using a lot. That would be 5000 units.
My question is, would we be able to invest that much, while still remaining on an Octopus tariff that means we only pay for our net grid usage of 2300 units?

Not so much a review than questions, I have my home n a quite large n very old listed building that has hmo status so I pay the energy costs, if I invested more than most investors could get cheaper e bill on both propertys, definaty will be investing , what's my next move, thanks in advance kind regards Keith Spalding

Ripple have so far kept us informed as well as we would expect for any A+ rated Project Manager.
4 out of 8 towers already manufactured and in storage - the rest of the civil and site prep packages under way.
So far so good

Hi , I have invested in Kirk Hill and am really looking forward to 2023 when it goes live - i am however concerned about the need to change to a new supplier to get the benefits - i am currently with Bulb energy and although there are similarities with Octopus my tariffs are better than what is currently available through Octopus - so the question is - do you have any plans to include Bulb energy in your recognised suppliers as they are also 100% renewable users

Antwort von Ripple Energy
When I first heard of what Ripple Energy are doing, I knew I wanted to be part of that.
Like many people, I live in an older property that poses challenges when it come to renewable energy. While solar panels may be a possibility for me, they wouldn't be optimal (wrong orientation, roofing material and shape).
With Ripple Energy, none of that matters and they make the process so easy.

Antwort von Ripple Energy
Can’t tell you much at the moment, but so far OK. Thanks.
