Most unethical auction company to deal with. Website has no T&C’s listed, T&C’s on sites like bidspotter mention several different applicable charges and only states a range of commission %’s (... Mehr ansehen

Another auctioneer conman praying on people who don't read the fine print! If you buy on their site or on Bidspotter etc READ THE ADDITIONAL CHARGES as you will be liable for over 50% of the bid price... Mehr ansehen

Don't buy from these cowboys
I have been buying from English auctions for 45 years plus. I had the misfortune of signing up for RichardMaze auctions on 23 June to bid on a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 diesel 7 seater SUV. Supposed to be in Rugby Warwickshire but is now on the Isle of Lewis. With engine and transmission problems and has been involved in a crash and fixed, all on the very bottom of the page, how this cowboy got a license to run an auction and is linked to Bidspotter (Great Auction House) is beyond me. I rang them the evening the sale closed after winning and was told to pay the invoice that I have never received, even now 03/07/25,
Late last night i received a email to say i am blocked from auction's. Complete Cowboys.
Regards Peadar Hughes.
Scam auction Richard Maze & co
Avoid, scam auction house. Richard maze fairly new scam auction house based on online bidspotter/i-bidder.
They tend send 3 seperate invoices tricking you into thinking you’re exempt from VAT and other fees. Once they take ur money they’re hoping they’d bum you on the rest later.
Their fees are all silly high as it’s a scam auction and also, they sell many dodgy cars on their auction which are sold with hidden problems and lack of details. Obvious issues that they’ll claim they had no knowledge of. I had picked up a car which had issues with a gearbox. It’s an obvious problem and was driven for me to pick up at a dodgy location.
I placed a bid on a vehicle that was marked as “Reserve Not Met” at the time. Around 2 hour later, while the auction was still live, the status suddenly changed to “Reserve Met”, with no notification or transparency. This felt misleading and left me unsure whether my bid had triggered a sale or not.
There also appeared to be suspicious bidding patterns, with bids being placed and then removed — possibly to drive the price up until it reached a more favourable point for the seller. Along side with selling me a messed up car on purpose with an expensive fault among other more minor problems but still expensive. This kind of behaviour raises concerns about fairness and trust in the auction process and is illegal which has been documented, proven and reported to the relevant agencies. They are currently being investigated.
I’ve raised the issue with Trading Standards, as I believe this falls under unfair trading practices. Just sharing my experience so others can stay away from this scam auction.

I won a Hummer on auction for 6k
I won a Hummer on auction for 6k from Richard Maze. I was at fault for not reading the terms properly as I was hit with another 39% buyers premium on the second invoice after I'd paid the first. Always check the small print people. The cancellation fee I feel is excessive and would have appreciated a discount. I've bought a few items off auction and can never recall such a high buyers premium. First time I've ever had to cancel a winning bid
Toyota Hilux
On 25.03.2025, I bought a Toyota Hilux from Richardmaze auctioneers and co. The details of the car are described on the bidding page. The MOT is valid until 29.04.2025. The car is in running order, how many miles have been done etc. However, when I paid the first bill, they told me to pay the second one and then I could come and collect the car. I went to get a new MOT but the mechanic told me that the chassis was completely rusted and cracked and that he couldn't believe that the car had passed its MOT last year. The mechanic advised me not to drive this car because it was completely unsafe. I couldn't believe that a car like this could be sold at auction. I drove the car from Leicester to London for MOT where I live and risked my own life and the lives of other drivers. The auctioneers charged me an Administration fee of £485 plus VAT on two bills. £485 is the Administration fee for a Toyota Hilux, I didn't buy two Toyotas.
I purchased a car from this company at Richard Maze Auctions.
I purchased a car from this company at an online auction, the photos of the vehicle were taken of the driver side, front and rear, the picture of the passenger side was shown with the door open, I now know that thiswas done intentionaly to hide the large dent on the door.
I called them after the car was delivered and the reply was, you had an opportunity to veiw the car before buying. THE PICTURES WERE TOTALY MISSLEADING.
