Disgusting rip off. They have an app that takes ages to download (Over 15 minutes) then hit you with a £100 fine for being a bit late. Total rip off - avoid

This company has a rating of 1 star for every single review. Trustpilot does not award zero stars. PopPay should get a minus score for the appalling way they treat people who try to pay for parking. The App does not work so that after 10 minutes of trying to pay, they can then charge £100 for parking without payment. My belief is that this is quite deliberate and part of their operating strategy. I think that Trading Standards should investigate and possibly shut down this scam-like operation and prosecute the owners.

Appalling that the app charges 30p fee on £1 parking charge. Arun Council should be ashamed of themselves. Only cash or PopPay app to pay for parking.

At Vantage Point in Brighton, I arrived and immediately downloaded the app. It took ages to put all details in then when I tried to pay the 2 pound charge it kept freezing and not allowing me to make the payment. I eventually paid it but then got sent a penalty charge of 100 pounds for missing the 10 minute grace period! Completely disproportionate and the fault of this glitchy app. Avoid that car park and this app if at all possible.

Can't ever pay for parking. The app just doesn't work. They don't have any phone operators on weekends regardless, they don't answer the phone anyway.
Don't park at the destinated car park for Northampton bike park as Poppay are the parking provider.

Tried to pay for parking at Vantage Point, Brighton 10095 but app wouldn't accept the £2 payment. Called Poppay but no response. Tried a different bank card, still same error. Had mobile signal and then wifi - still unable to pay. Sent email to company, followed up with call next day. They said that there wasn't a fault so I will receive a Parking Charge Notice. Absolute robbery!!
How can this unfair practice exist in a seemingly civilised country!!

As with previous reviews I've found myself in a similar situation. I tried unsuccessfully to pay for an hours parking but the app wouldn't accept payment ('error'). I have photographic evidence of this and have disputed the charge but after others' experiences I don't expect much come back. In the current climate it's criminal to be charging £100 for an issue that is their fault...

This company is running a highway robbery scam. The app is slow to download and not user friendly. An hours parking at my chosen location is 50p and the app then ADDS 30p for their charges. i actually chose not to pay their fee but as i didn't have cash for the machine i was left with no option but to risk my stay being less than the 15 minutes before charges apply. Silly me - 16 minutes i was in that car park; the photographic evidence they send with the PCN shows this. So for 1 minutes parking i have the princely sum of £60 to pay provided i pay within 14 days - therefore removing my option to appeal as the timescale and process for appeal, which will fail, means i am liable for the full £100. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Unfortunately this means the local traders lose out as their passing footfall dwindles.
Poppay haven't responded to any other reviews so i don't expect them to here either - i've always worked on the theory "silence is consent"

Rubbish. Kept getting error “unknown” told me to contact app developers which I tried, but it was the weekend so nobody was there to help. Got a fine which you can’t contest because you should just park somewhere else.

I echo all the negative reports below. We wanted to park in New Haven for an anniversary boat trip. We tried hard to download the POPPAY app to my phone. This took some time but eventually succeeded. Once on the app I found that I couldn't get either card or paypal payment options to come up on the screen. Only biometric options where available. I have not got these set up and couldn't work out how to do this quickly. We decided to give up and find alternative parking. We had only been parked in the space trying to pay the fee so had definitely not used the car park to leave the car and do any activity apart from walking to the post where the POPPAY info was situated. My husband and I are disgusted to receive a fine of £60-£100 effectively punishing us for trying on the day to find a way pay for our parking and would warn anyone who considers parking in a car park using this scheme to go elsewhere. The appeal system didn't result in any cancellation of our fine and if you do wish to take your complaint further you are likely to lose the early payment option of £60 rather than £100- so feel pressurised to pay despite disagreeing strongly with the morality of the fine.

Useless! I parked in Vantage Point carpark in Brighton which is "managed" by One Parking Solution who own this app. PapPay is a trading style of One Parking Solution whose reviews and public perception is terrible. Their paying machine wasn't working so I looked into paying by phone/ online. But couldnt get a signal at this site so left and parked elsewhere. I thought that was the end of the matter. But no! One Parking Solution/ PapPay, OPS/ PopPay then aggressively pursued me for a £60-£100 Parking charge. They passed my details onto multiple scummy debt companies who kept adding on more trumped up fake charges onto the original unjustified PCN amount then pursued to civil court where their claim against me was dismissed and they were fined by the court for wasting my time. Basically if you drive into an OPS run carpark with PopPay app be very wary. The company are aware that their carparks such as Vantage Point Brighton and Llangrannog beach Wales are poor mobile phone reception areas, but will issue you a ticket despite paying if it happens to take longer than 10 minutes. I have gone on the app and its not particularly quick, well laid out (the carpark index is written in faint light coloured unboldened text and due to the layout its easy to enter the wrong location code. It's almost as if they are trying to make it as difficult as possible. Based on how I was treated I'm avoiding anywhere that requires you to use PopPay. Use other apps like Ringo or JustPark if possible or if you must use PapPay or any of these Pay Apps - Do so OUTSIDE the carparks so they cannot scam you with a postal PCN for taking "too long to pay" because people obviously have to park up, alight, get connections, download apps and navigate their way through payment processes which can longer on a crap app like this. There are countless reviews online for One Parking Solution issuing tickets to people who paid with their app, for taking "too long to pay" so I'd avoid on that basis. If you absolutely must use a location where PP or other apps are the only way to pay, I would recommend parking outside first and maybe getting one of your passengers to stand in the bay to stop anyone else getting) whilst you attempt to pay as it will either not work due to crap signal (as in my case) or most likely be long if you can get a signal or the app to download and work.
