One of the Worst Money Transfer Services – Stay Away from Placid
Do not do business with Placid. They randomly demand documentation after you’ve already initiated a transaction and hold your money hostage without any accountability.
In my case, I sent money and was later told they needed my travel plan documents — something that was never mentioned upfront. To make it worse, they waited until the last possible day to inform me that I had to call them to get the transaction approved. Completely unacceptable.
Their customer service is one of the worst I’ve experienced. No other money transfer service behaves like this. Even after providing every necessary detail, Placid finds ways to create delays, confusion, and frustration.
There’s zero transparency, zero consistency, and absolutely no urgency when it comes to your money. They wasted my time, blocked my funds, and caused unnecessary stress.
Save yourself the hassle — go with a company that respects your time and doesn’t treat your money like it’s theirs.

1 star because of today’s rate
1 star because of today’s rate, be careful and verify exchange rate before sending money. This is 2nd time in my 2-3 years of sending money experience, it happened before when I was sending money and the exchange rate was 30-40RS per dollar lower, I decided to wait couple of days and then it back to normal. Today I tried to send money and the rate was 75-80RS lower per dollar, I called their customer service and thought it was probably an error but was told this the rate today, I checked Google and rate was RS280.xx and western union app is giving RS281.xx per dollar. That’s a big difference and just wanted to share my experience. I did contact through the phone before leaving this review and was told that’s the rate for today.

3 stars because It does the job. 2 stars off because of the inconvenience of using the web portal. One of them is because every time you log in, it will default you to send money to India in Indian rupee - which is not always what you want. And to change it to some other currency is not even a one-click matter. Once you entered the US$ amount and then change receiving currency from INR to something else - it will reset the amount to 'zero' and you will need to start all over again which is annoying. And the second, there is no way to remove obsolete account information in your account portal, even if that is an invalid or never used receivers account. Not only that, it will not suggest receiver's account based on your most recent transaction, instead, it suggests out of all including those that are obsolete, wrong, invalid information. And as a result it makes the user confused as to which one was the correct receiver account? This is also very inconvenient for the customers.
