Jahn Pianoteile has a virtual monopoly as a supplier of parts and tools to piano technicians and tuners in Europe. It is a good company, and dealings with the staff are perfectly fine, but there are several areas where things have stagnated or even deteriorated over the past few years.
Firstly, the quality of the supplies and tools. The same equipment, whether ordered in 2015 or today, no longer has the same finish, quality or lifespan. I’ve lost count of the tools that deteriorate very quickly, or even simply break (the so-called ‘German quality’ – a myth).
Next, their website – a nightmare, a disaster – it’s impossible to use their search engine unless you know the exact product code.
Finally, this is probably less their fault but deliveries are more unreliable, and the UPS service, which costs over 20 euros, is increasingly disappointing.
But as we have no other choice, we still order from them.
So Jahn, please, new website, ASAP! And well-made supplies please.
