The world can be an unkind nasty place to be but ……. Sam Self makes it that much worse.
We arranged to pick up our new car on Sunday 7th Sept.
Jamal….” the sales assistant” kindly checked over the car and did the paperwork. He was very persuasive with regards to sending off the logbook, which we found strange and have informed the DVLA of. He promised the invoices of any work carried out on the car, which we had been asking for, would be emailed over to us.
The car got us as far as 28 miles down the road. The service light came on.
A further 12 miles from home “Stop engine oil pressure fault” came on.
At this point we phoned Jamal who said it was an ignition fault and to take the key out and restart!! We phoned the AA …they advised as we were so close to home, the car will get home and take it to the garage.
At this time, we thought surely it can’t be that bad and may just need a service.
Monday morning the car had a full diagnostic check on it and a thorough road worthy check by our trusted local garage. The car came up with over 30 diagnostic issues and an engine covered in oil underneath. This was due to a wet belt being wrongly fitted. There were up to 4 mechanics looking over that car. All couldn’t understand how any garage could put a car this bad on the forecourt, let alone watch a women drive away in it.
We emailed Sam Self continually with the diagnostics report and 6 photos of the engine covered in oil. None were answered.
We had the AA tow the car back to Parley Car Centre on Wednesday 10th.
Well…..surprise…Sam wasn’t there, after emails and a short phone call to him to let him know, we were coming.
We were met by Jamal who seemed surprised to see us. He refused to give us a refund as he said “the car was ok on the test drive” …Really!!!! Consumer rights seem to be unheard of!!!
After a lot of persuasive conversation Jamal got Sam on the phone.
Sam became quite “vocal” to us very early into the conversation. We informed him of our Consumer Rights. He became very aggressive towards Jamal down the phone. Shouting “refund them and get them out”, it all became very intimidating, very weird and very unprofessional. Not a word of apology or an any form of empathy was shown to us. How naive we were to give him the benefit of the doubt from his bad reviews.
As we have a business ourselves, we have never been spoken to like this before.
His” after sales customer service” is non-existent and the atmosphere in that office was very toxic…something we have never encountered in all our years of business.
As the AA man had witnessed all of this, his remark was “How can one man with so much aggression think he can run a business”.
We never heard of Sam Self again or his assistant Jamal, which we find quite unbelievable. No follow up call, no email to apologise for our bad experience with his company, not even to ask if we are ok. He doesn’t care and don’t be fooled into thinking he does. He has no moral compass and is a poor excuse to the motor trade.
Trading Standards,AA,Trustpilot, Google Business, DVLA have all been informed of his business conduct.
His website is full of misleading information…Health Check…really??
“We offer a 7 day back money guarantee” …. only after Sam has been aggressive and vocal to you first!! Oh, and he still charged us £150 for an alloy refurb on a car we no longer have…he obviously needs every penny he can get!!
A lot of our friends in business are amazed and dumbfounded by our experience. We have come to the conclusion his positive reviews are those done by his wife, family and friends to keep up his score, which is laughable in any business.
We plead with you to learn by our mistake and don’t make it your mistake by dealing with this company. We have told the truth.
Sammy Self doesn’t know how to reply to emails, but no doubt he WILL reply to this review….
28 miles of driving one of his cars bought us so much stress and upset. Please stay away from this car dealer trader.

We bought a car from here last month and they were great when we came to view and test drive, very honest and helpful with info. They did a MOT on the car before we bought it and made sure it had no advisories on it before we got it.

Sam then stayed late on a Friday for us to pick it up and stayed until we had it all sorted. Hopefully the car lasts a long time but the service was great.

I have not been able to use it since last September and SAM SELF does not reply to endless emails and is not prepared to do anything, This is the report below I have had to make my car driveable. And he still hasn't registered the warranty I paid £395 for!!

With reference to our telephone conversation and an estimate for the work on your Mitsubishi ASX.
The price for the replacement parts for the rear suspension is £1609.50 inc vat. (this includes the 3 latitudinal arms per side, the longitudinal trailing arms per side and the camber adjusting bolts and washers for both sides)
As I mentioned on the phone, it's difficult to give you a price for the labour, however, I would imagine it's probably going to be between 4 - 5 hours work, but this is an estimate.
To help you gauge, our labour rate is £66 per hour plus V.A.T.
As previously mentioned, hopefully this will correct the rear camber and alignment issue with the vehicle but cannot 100% guarantee it will (hopefully it will) as the issue could still be the subframe that the previous garage fitted.
4 wheel alignment £96 inc V.A.T.
Also, the price for the work on the rear brakes (replacement of seized O/S rear brake caliper, replacement of worn rear brake discs and brake pads, unseize N/S rear brake caliper carrier slider bolts and bleeding of hydraulic brake system) is £492.23, this is the price for parts, labour and V.A.T

Over heard a chap in the pub saying he had been to the Parley Centre and bought a car that was excellent. I was looking for a specific and went on the website and saw what I wanted. Visited Sam at his site, and found him to be honest and trustworthy. No hard sales push, just a very nice bloke. I noticed all his were clean and well valeted and My car was at an exceptionally good price. Purchased and have not looked back. After sales care has been good as well, any problems just give Sam a call, hopefully wont have to do that. Will definitely return

I had been hunting for a new car for a little while and stumbled upon Parley Car Centers website where there were loads of great cars at great prices. So my Dad and I took a trip down and found a lovely Volvo which was well within my price range and looked great! I called Sam and he was super helpful, always going above and beyond what I was asking and made the buying process as easy as it could possibly be. He never once pressured me into buying and it was all left for my judgement, which I was highly appreciative of!
He sorted out my warranty, put a new not and service on, which was included in the price of the car, and I couldn’t be happier.
I would and have recommended Sam to anyone who is looking for a new car.

Greetings - On Saturday 29th June I went along with my Partner James to meet Sam at The Parley Car Centre to view a car. My first impression having spoken to Sam the previous day ( Friday ) was WOW 🤩 this is the most helpful genuine salesman with a wonderful telephone manner that I have ever encountered at my age! The trend was set to continue on Saturday -we were made to feel at home with no pressure or sales tactics to purchase the vehicle by taking our time to fully examine the car. However I did not go ahead with the purchase and was not made to feel awkward about it either - I would definitely return to look at another vehicle should the need arise in the future. Parley Car Centre has a great range of cars at very reasonable prices.

My purchase experience was normal not extraordinary but acceptable. the car was for my sister who live in London. we bought the car on the 31/03/24 and collected the car on the 06/04/2024. We chose to opt for the 12 months warranty on the car with AA which cost an additional £375. We were told that the documents for the warranty will be sent to us by email the next day. we provided the right details which was checked before we left with the car. 13 days later we called because we have not received the warranty. At first we were told that they will check and come back to us. an hour and half later no call no email. so I called but no answer and it went to voicemail. I know that they were trying to avoid me so i use another phone with a different number. they picked up the call and when they realised it was me, they told me that the documents were sent to the wrong email address. they did not have the curtesy to call me or apology for the after sale unprofessional customer service. I said okay, I again gave them the same email and I was told that it will be sent within an hour. As you guessed nothing came up. not call, no email. When i called again, my call was ignored, so i used a third phone number then it was answer. I was met with a rude and menacing response and was advised not to call again. These are the people who appear to be professional but turn ruthless when you confront them with their mistake and bad dealing. As to date we do not know if the AA warranty of £375 was paid. AA had confirmed that they did not have a policy under the address or car registration. This mean these people simply pocketed the money and never paid for the warranty. All this is happening 13 days after the warranty was supposed to be activated. If by tomorrow we have not received documents showing that the warranty was paid for we will contact the police for misleading and stealing from us without providing the proper documents. We are unable to drive the car, knowing that there is no warranty if anything happened. This means that the car is sitting waiting. If there was a 0 or minus rating I will gladly go for minus 0. as per now we are still waiting for documents we should have had 13 days ago

So after seeing the reviews I stupidly thought I'd give them a chance wow I was wrong. First of all part exchanged my car being told only worth £250 as it had short MOT and they would only be scrapping it to see it up for sale for over £3000. ( I hope who ever bought it have had the issues sorted it as it needs a new gear box which I know hasn't been done). Then onto the new car from word go had issues and was sold knowing this first was the front bearings. Sam will tell you he will sort this but doesn't and you can never get a meeting sorted. So finally got it in myself and he did pay for it. Then the timing chain which was making a sound from the moment I got it again same issue and on top of that Sam makes out your the bad guy in all of this. Finally get it in he pays £500 I pay over £700. I say that they said the turbo is on it sway out and I'll I get back is I'm not paying that it comes with age that's what happens with old cars. He is a Von artist. He gets dodgy cats then sells them on hoping that he can hold you off till warranty runs out and screw you don't make my mistake please avoid. Edit to original post after your reply didn't even buy a Kia from you so just proves my point dodgy as you can even get the correct car you sold so either you have terrible paper work which is worrying as that's probably why cars aren't getting the correct work or have dodgy paper work or you sell so many cars that people complain about and are bad that you can't keep track of which ones to who. Plus also the car that I sold you for scrap was sold to the new owner with an outstanding recall on it which is actually illegal.

I brought a car from sam self at parley car centre, 3 hour in to my journey home it broke down, he said he would pay for repair bill, but never, DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM SAM SELF he is a liar, I am going down the legal route and taking him to court

About a month ago I was lucky to purchase a Ford Mondeo from Parley Car Centre. The level of service I got was nothing but First Class. Ben and his co worker were very Professional, Knowledgeable, Helpful and very, Polite. I would recommend them to everyone looking for a car. They have a wide range of cars at all different prices and well worth a visit to there Website. While there I got chatting to a couple of other customers who told me they been buying cars from Ben for a few years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. I now feel the same, so thank you Ben, Keep the great Service up.

AVOID..... following reviews from MTC poole definitely do not deal with these if the same person is now working here. Do your research....don't make same mistake as I did and also others.

I traveled from London to purchase my car, fully expecting it to be like so many other second hand car dealers. Wow! what a very pleasant surprise, to start with we had agreed a price for my car over the phone
To part exchange, my past experience has always been in situations like this that the trader finds a reason to knock the price down, thankfully not in this case was offered the agreed price. And the car I was going to view was exactly as described. I was not pressured at anytime to buy the car. Sufficed to say I made the decision to buy the car. Very happy I did. Thank you 🙏

I brought a 2016 Jaguar XF when they were trading as MTC cars, it has had the same problem several times since I brought the car in April. I was told the issue would be resolved before I collected the car, when I spoke to the garage they were never asked by the dealership to look into the issue, Sam then took the car back after weeks of trying to get hold of him to sort the issue out and tried to make me feel guilty for the money he had to spend on the car to put it right, 4 weeks later the SAME PROBLEM was back but much worse to the point the car has been now sat on my driveway for close to 9 weeks as it won’t start and Sam’s (owner) solution is to block my number. No wonder he’s moved locations…trying to hide from his consistent problems that he causes himself. It wouldn’t surprise me if the positive reviews are ones he’s left himself to try and hide all the negative ones about him and the way he practices business.

DO NOT BUY! I got ripped off with a dangerous car when they were the motoring trade centre, I’ve only had the car a matter of months, they are scammers and are not a registered company with company house. They have ignored my emails and letters, they went bankrupt and have set up this new company, don’t make the same mistake I did!

Do not use - this is a bankrupt company - it was MTC Cars in poole. Sam Self is bankrupt and folded MTC. He is now trading here. He has sold faulty cars and not fixed them and not paid garage bills. He is being investigated by trading standards. Please see the reviews for MTC on TrustPilot. This company is NOT TO BE TRUSTED. I have a car that broke down in just 2 days. I am stuck with a faulty car and no recourse as MTC is no longer trading. I am hoping to arrange a picket at Parley Car centre very soon. Please keep you eye out on social media
