ARI have to be worse hospital in the world

I would definitely recommend anyone who has any surgery planned in ARI to get second opinion before it.. I been put through 100 unnecessary and avoidable surgeries so consultant can have a training video, absolutely ruining my health and life.

Neglect

Was told I should have a heart scan to check if my Pericardial Infusion had worsened due to symptoms. Was refused and thrown out of ARI at 00:30 who they knew also suffered with Epilepsy and was 30 miles from home with no transport on Friday 17 April 20:26 saying it wasn't Cardiac even though ai am suffering symptoms at the time that most medical professionals would find concerning. Kept waiting by doctors who were strolling around barely doing anything for 8 hours. The doctor I had did not care about my medical history and kept telling me not to tell it as he was only concerned about now, even though it was relevant. He also couldn't be bothered to check for notes that were relevant. The receptionist that controls the transfer of patients only concern was finding it funny she would have to cancel her bank shift in a ward because she'd be too hung over to do it. After going out with ward 111 staff. There are mothers who are health care workers who have refused to leave their children alone and have been put on disciplinary action because their childcare failed and the bank manager has told them tough leaving a ward short of staff is unacceptable regardless of childcare situations How is this kind of favouritism fair when one member of staff gets favoured and is allowed to do this for a hangover and mothers are punished for taking care of their children

Avoid doctor grays is you can

Doctor Gray’s in Elgin is very badly managed with arrogant consultants who do not care about patients. All they want are the beds back and to send people home when still in critical conditions instead of offering people the correct medical help they need.

Worse Than Winterfell

Got in trouble repeatedly when working here for either sticking up for patients or reporting abuse until sacked for it. Had to watch a dementia borderline tortured while having a catheter inserted on Brucklay Ward Fraserburgh nothing done about it.

A journey of diagnosis

I was admitted to Ward 112 in June last year where I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I had a varied and sometimes turbulent journey through diagnosis to treatment and this review is to commend the staff that helped me through this journey. Dr Stone - consultant haematologist, her team were without a doubt excellent. I would like to especially mention, some of the medical staff, Dr Stone (of course), Ali, who was there in the initial period of diagnosis, later Mariella. The other Doctors I met during the course were all excellent in their care and professionalism. Trisha Ferguson, Specialist Lymphoma Nurse, has been the most supportive and positive throughout this journey, always making herself available despite the demands of her role going the extra mile. All the staff on the Anchor unit, their expertise, patience and kindness - above and beyond. Dr Helen, Clinical Psychologist for listening to my woes and offering patience and understanding. All the other members of staff that I have met and not mentioned, different departments, Radiology, Respiratory, and so on.
Of course I encountered some issues with some, but the overall experience does overshadow the negative.
This journey for me will continue, however it has given me confidence in any future care.

Thanks ward 309 ARI

I would love to say a huge thanks to all the staff at ward 309. From admission to theatre to ward the care and attention I received was exemplary. I wish I could remember everyone's names. In particular I would love to thank my consultant, a Staff Nurse called Morgan and a lovely wee student nurse who was very caring. I was admitted in traumatic circumstances and all the staff were extremely caring, professional and knowledgeable. They immediately put me at ease. I'm so grateful for the dedication and hard work all the staff put in to ensure I was kept informed at all times and that I was comfortable and so well looked after. Thanks again ward 309 you're all stars!

Caring and professional from beginning to end

Had to have bowel surgery on the 15th December. From the moment l arrived at ARI until the moment l left l was treated with the utmost respect. My surgeon Dr Scrimgeour kept me well informed about the procedure that l was about to have and answered any questions l had which put my mind at rest. The theatre staff were excellent and kept me calm until the anaesthetic took hold. I woke up in Ward 206 and have nothing but the utmost respect for all of the staff that looked after me, they were absolutely amazing. They cared for me until l was ready to go home and never made me feel like l was a bother. The food was really good too.

If you live west of Anderson Drive

If you live west of Anderson Drive, Aberdeen NHS Grampian does not know you exist. Their website is complete corporate fancyness. Lots of words and link pages but absolutely no infiramtion of any use to patients and carers. Patients hoping to get information re their condition and contact numbers for indivdual hospitals and clinics are disapointed because none are listed. There is no acess to information on medical conditions. I spent over an hour trying to contact a clinic service in Dr Grays. No details on the wbsite. No contact phone numbers other than an 0345 number (which found by acident) Telephonist did not listen properly and twice transfered me to departments in Dr Grays which had nothing to do with my condition. When clinicians give information to patients about links for furtehr advice, they are not available on NHS Grampians website. By accident found better to use NHS Scotland website for information on medical conditions.

Disgusting & unprofessional.

Disgusting & unprofessional.
Will never have another baby under the NHS!
Destroyed our relationship
NHS crumbling

I want to share my side of the story, Of my partner going through her pregnancy & labour.

From the beginning of her pregnancy she seemed to have multiple different midwife during the pregnancy some good & some bad. But it’s a shame to have so many different people for 1 person during her pregnancy.

Made out to be a miracle our baby is alive. As we were getting told through the last parts of the pregnancy we need to go through induction cooks ballon. The doctor said “ best to have this sooner rather than later as yous don’t want a still-born” Which I believe is very unprofessional and causing stress for us. We had an appointment for the cooks ballon to be done the following day. In the morning of the cooks ballon appointment the maternity ward called us to cancel on us as there is no space. Wait for a phone we were told. 2 days later I had to phone & push for us to go into maternity ward as we were told by the doctor we need this done sooner rather than later.

Finally on labour day, my partner was getting an epidural as we wanted & stated in her birth plan but we had to ask & push for the epidural to be given as they said they are very busy which is understandable, she was already 5 centimetres dilated when she arrived & we still had to wait around 5hours to be given the epidural which by this stage she was already 9 centimetres dilated they fail to do the injected 3 times as my partner was having contractions every 2 minutes, finally the 4th managed to insert into the correct spot which help her.

By the time the baby was coming close to being born the student midwife had to assist my partner in telling her when contractions were coming to push at the correct time, student midwife was very nice. But was unable to help with the timing & feeling of contractions, I respect having students to learn but felt like student was made to do everything & the midwife was not interested in us.

My partner was unable to give birth naturally so we had a doctor come in to discuss options well we were told our options are forceps is the route we need to go down which we are strongly against which is stated in our birth plan. Other options which they kept repeating the baby will only have 20% to live if we go for C-section as the baby is to far. We really did not want forceps & doctors left the room came back I ask my partner to sign forceps.. once again we repeat we are strongest against this & we were push into forceps as we had to be rushed into surgery.

Emergency surgery, once the they start with the forceps to try with both doctors attempted it & failed to manage forceps so into emergency C-section as pervious we were told 20% chance of baby to survive now I would imagine the chances would be even lower after wasted time on forceps which we never wanted.. Myself got emotional & I was asked if I was okay which I reacted “ no this is bullshît & a shambles we have been forced into procedures we never wanted & everything has gone wrong “ this led to the woman doctor to stop what she was doing to argue with me. As we signed the paper to do the procedure which they led to us it’s the only choice we have.

The male doctor I think his name is ( Neil ). Was outstanding & I can not thank him enough for everything he done & professional level. Just a shame he was surrounded by people who didn’t care as they were finishing shift. I heard him shout at the staff as nothing was in position & ready from him to carry on the surgery.

As this was 06:30 - 07:45 must of been the handover time as there was over 14 people in the surgery room at the time of the surgery coming in & out the room. My partner was like some test dummy for everyone to come watch.

We spoken with a doctor after and raised our concerns with everything we went through. Which the doctor noted & would investigate.

We are supposed to have a follow up with the doctor after 6weeks to give us time to go home & spend family time. We are still waiting & it’s been 9 weeks now.

The baby is very healthy & active which is the most important thing for us.

To the staff who cared & tried everything they could to help it’s lovely to see the kind & care still is in some people. Thank you guys.

Just a shame in the very unprofessional, attitude of some of the staff & lack of interest to the job plus people.

Total waste of time, not fit to treat animals

71% one star. That means the CEO will get an OBE, if NHS Grampian got 100% one star then the CEO would get a seat in the House of Crooks (House of Lords) NHS Grampian has managed to build a new Mortuary that cost £30 Million, that is to accommodate the large amount of people dying because of the failure to treat them. I have been waiting 42 months for an operation, they said I needed an operation on the 01,04.2021, but refuse to do it, but they keep on telling me to go Private, but now they tell me that they do not know what the problem is, so the Doctor that told me I needed an operation must have been a VET.

Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin

Last Sunday (4th December) I was in Dr Grays hospital in Elgin for a colonoscopy. I can’t thank the staff on Ward 1 enough, I was well looked after before and after my procedure. Dr Hew who carried out the procedure and the nurses were all very caring. Nurse Jackie gave me her hand to hold throughout the procedure and for that I was truly thankful. Thank you again to everyone who helped me through what isn’t the nicest of procedures but a necessary one.

Unfit for purpose service

I am totally shocked at the offensive reply that I have received from Carol Clark at the feedback/complaints team. They have not even addressed the main event of me almost dying and the consequent heart failure created by the 6 hour delay in geting me to surgery from my home whilst having a massive heart attack. This rather creative letter which explains of failure to attend appointments at my surgery that never even existed. I checked with my surgery to confirm this after receiving this report. It's Just astounding the lengths these people go to to cover up incompetence. Carol Clark explains for to call to discuss any issues with the letter. After several calls and messages left on the answer service I have not had any correspondence. In my opinion this service is not fit for purpose!

Abuse of trust is one of the worst…

Abuse of trust is one of the worst things a mental health team can do. Dr Bruce Davidson was investigated by the GMC and found guilty of shortcomings. After a complaint to NHS Grampian I received sincere apologies. I am particularly traumatized by the actions of Nurse Practitioner Lorna Young as I fully trusted her and was let down terribly. The nursing complaint offered no apology but said it was their policy to lie to patients. I am a survivor of serial rapist Milton Brown and was completely taken in by Lorna. I now realize she was grooming me because she knew I was vulnerable and saying she was passing messages to Dr Davidson when she wasn't. Abuse of rape survivors is a horrible thing for a mental health nurse. She lied to Dr Davidson so he was unaware of the situation and I accept that as it was fully investigated by NHS Grampian feedback. I have been unable to trust mental health nurses ever since and attempted to take my life. This took place in 2020 but it was worse than being raped, like rape it takes years to get over. I am being supported by RASASH Rape and Sexual Abuse Highland and campaigning for vulnerable patients not to trust mental health system.

Where to begin with this. Horrible horrible horrible place

Where to begin with this.

The nurses are what holds this place up, some are amazing, some are absolutely horrible and vain cretinous individuals.
However there is a few here that outweigh all of them, don't fret with that part.

The doctors, some are decent, some are just wow. However, some were within wrong medical records telling people the wrong things.
The complaints team are horrible.
The level of abuse from them alone is enough to deter people complaining.

If you go here, do so at your own peril.
You may get a great nurse, however you will meet severely lackadaisical individuals who quite possibly obtained their medical degrees from 20 cornflakes boxes and a self addressed envelope.
If you have to complain you will be met with absolute horrors who are not helpful or there to assist you.

Familiarise yourself with the ombudsman if anything goes wrong, do this before you have to speak to NHS Grampian, so you know what you will need and what they can't do, especially when they blatantly try to get away with it Infront of you.

Be prepared and if you're reading this, I'm sorry for what may come if you use here.

As much use as a chocolate tea pot!!

As much use as a chocolate teapot!!

Over a year of referrals, letters, etc most of which were not replied to, now told that NHS Grampian (Scotland) no longer offer ASD assessments, despite a national policy.
They failed to respond to letters (as the date was wrong) ignored follow up letters from health professionals, then finally decide they no longer do assessments, no wonder the NHS is in such a mess totally unprofessional.
