Before I went to the Nationwide Gold roadshow I visited a gold antique dealer. The gold antique dealer offered me £200 for a ring. I went to the roadshow and got £350 from Nationwide Gold. Quick, friendly and no hassle.

We had old gold jewellery to sell. Nationwide Gold were transparent about the pricing and we found the whole process straightforward and efficient. We would use this company again.

Absolute scammers they were advertising in Leicester a few years back. They have no interest in collectables nor anybody with any knowledge. I had gold with me and showed them 2 pieces a 17th century high carat seal ring. I was offered less than scrap £150 it sold at auction for £1500 same with a brooch that sold at same auction for £2200. Do not sell to them they will low ball you and don't take porcelain or glass or any other collectibles because they only want your gold and they want it cheap.

I took along a rare and valuable Patek Philippe watch for appraisal at the Cornwall China Fleet Club venue, after reading in their leaflet that they were interested in purchasing valuable watches.

Unfortunately, the chap who initially ask's what type of items you wish to sell, prior to going into the valuation room, had never heard of Patek Philippe !! (please google for info on it's world renowned status)

Once inside, the actual buyer, Daniel, told me that my watch was not " fashionable " and that if he was to show it to his daughters, they would probably laugh at it ! A strange thing to say, but, smelling a rat, I kept my dignity and decided not to respond.

He then offered me £2,000 cash, which I of course declined.

I purchased the watch, a rare and very beautiful example of it's type and status, along with all it's authentic paperwork, from a very respected jewellers in Geneva.

I have now sold the watch onward to a much more knowledgeable and reputable buyer for £11,000 GBP !!!! Enough said !
