Unfortunately terrible experience
Unfortunately, a really disappointing experience with National Van Sales.
Before collecting my van, I raised several items in writing that needed checking or fixing and was assured these would be dealt with. My original collection was then delayed because the van wasn't ready, and when I eventually collected it, several of those items were still outstanding and a service warning was showing.
I agreed in writing to return the van for everything to be sorted. NVS actually asked me to bring it back a day earlier so they could start work first thing, yet when I arrived there was confusion about why I was there. They then kept my van for around 26 days. They did provide a courtesy van, which I appreciated, although that unfortunately developed problems too.
When I finally collected my van, one of the original items was still not done and had to be dealt with while I waited. I then discovered the sliding door wasn't working properly, which I showed them and documented before leaving. Shortly afterwards, I also experienced an intermittent problem where the van wouldn't enter READY mode, which I recorded on video.
After everything that had happened, I notified NVS in writing that I was rejecting the vehicle and asked for the transaction to be unwound. They refused. What I found particularly strange was their suggestion that my dissatisfaction was due to “buyer's remorse regarding the operational transition to an electric powertrain.” I genuinely don't understand where that came from. My issue wasn't that the van was electric — I simply wanted the vehicle I'd purchased to have the agreed work completed and to work properly without the problems I'd experienced.
The dispute remains unresolved. I've kept the emails, messages, photos and videos documenting my experience. I genuinely wish I'd known what I was getting into before buying from them. Extremely disappointing from start to finish.
