I bought a Zen Millbrook mattress a year ago and have never been so displeased with a purchase as I am with this. It cost me £1K. It has dipped on both sides of the bed even though we turn it regularly and there is a bump right down the middle. There is no support on the edges and you feel as if you’re sitting on the base. Millbrook said the company who came out to check the mattress reported that there was no fault. I can’t afford another mattress and feel if I get someone out to inspect it again I will be throwing good money after bad. Also I would like to know what’s with the single black wool tuft that’s been randomly put in?

1,600.- mattress disapppinting. Sagged in the centre within weeks. Neither John Lewis or Millbrook took responsibility. Mattress inspector said there was no manufacturer's fault. Whose fault is it?

Awful. Do not go near these mattresses.

Had an excellent Sealy mattress for must have been 15yrs and it finally gave up the ghost, so used John Lewis to buy a Millbrook mattress which had 4.5 star reviews and sounded excellent - little did I know...

Mattress arrived and within a couple of nights I felt disappointed - was meant to be medium tension and it felt soft & wasn't supporting my back (being 6ft 2" I can suffer from back pain). Item cost ~£1k and is the worst waste of money I've ever spent. 10mths later and waking up in pain down my sides every morning and I've chucked it out & picked up by council skip where it belongs & had to spend another fortune to get another Sealy mattress which is already a million times better.

I noticed settlement and sagging in the Millbrook mattress almost immediately, despite turning it. After 8mths I tried to use my 7yr guarantee with John Lewis to get it replaced, but they insisted an independent mattress inspector must come and see it - fair enough. The independent review showed that in 5 of the 6 'zones' of the mattress, it had sagged by between 4-6cm in just 8mths - well above the limit of what is acceptable / allowable, but they refused to replace the mattress or exchange it because there was a slight bit of bowing underneath the bed in the bed frame slats and John Lewis & Millbrook refused any responsibility for the poor manufacture of the mattress on that basis - I'm still shocked about this now.

The key thing here is that we noticed afterwards in small print, that the 4.5 star reviews on the John Lewis website were incentivised (!), so the people who wrote those reviews received something in order to write them (a free or discounted mattress perhaps, who knows?), whereas you look on the Trustpilot website and all the reviews are 1.5 star out of 5 and say the same thing - avoid this company at all costs, because it's a complete & utter waste of money. John Lewis should not be allowed to do this - it is disingenuous and biases the product and how good it actually is. Of course you will write a more favourable review if you're getting something out of it as a result. We would never have bought this if we had seen the Trustpilot reviews, but we trusted the John Lewis ones as a good, respectable company - they really let us down here, having spent thousands of pounds at that shop over the years. The mattress also smelt as though it had been sat in a warehouse for a long time - it did not smell new or fresh like my new Sealy one does (for example).

Despite a great number of emails and phone calls with multiple different people within John Lewis, who would then contact Millbrook, and putting forward a very solid case, they refused to budge whatsoever. There is zero use in having a 7yr guarantee when it's so hard to be able to utilise it - what is the point? Very, very disappointed with this whole experience, and the final kicker at the end - having to pay an extra £32.50 just for the council to pick up and take away the thing...shocking

Bought a Millbrook mattress about 3 years ago based on the recommendation of a local bed supplier. Very disappointed with the quality. The mattress split, and as neither I nor my wife are overweight, we assumed Millbrook would replace the faulty product. Instead they arbitrarily stated the problem was due to fair wear and tear. To my mind what was provided was low quality, faulty material. We will certainly never buy Millbrook again.

tl;dr: Trading on their past reputation for quality - quality which seems to have gone by the wayside.

A short backstory: About 25 years ago, as the founder of an upholstery repair company, I was invited on a factory tour of Millbrook Beds. Being the biggest bloke in the group, they asked me to stand on one of their upturned bed drawers & "do a tattoo" - a march on the spot. The drawer easily stood this abuse & was clearly undamaged, despite my conviction that it would collapse at any moment & injure my ankles! Similarly, their mattresses were spectacularly comfortable.

Fast-forward 20 years to 2020, and on the back of that memory, I bought a very expensive 6ft bed with their firmest mattress option (apologies, I can't recall which mattress model it was, and it's just been taken away so I can't refer back to the label).

Things got off to a bad start when it came without wheels... but that's forgivable; and for me the wheels from my old bed fit well enough to be serviceable, so we used those.

5 years later, though, it's wrecked. The divan base itself has failed in the middle, leaving two humps (the vertical supports) sticking up on one of the bases, and the other base is well on its way to failing in the same way.

The mattress had compressed permanently by a significant amount, in the middle of both sides (i.e. where you sleep: My wife is 60kg lighter than me, but her side is ruined as well), so it didn't matter which way it was turned or flipped, it simply wasn't comfortable any more. Worse, just a few days ago I got snagged in the bum by a spring that had broken free of its restraints. I don't know if it was the only one & my bum just got unlucky, but there you go. Finally, the mattress itself had started squeaking and creaking quite loudly whenever one lay down on it, or moved around in the night. This was the final straw, and after a mere 5 years, I've now binned it (and I'm going to have to bin the base as well, annoyingly, but as I've nowhere to sleep now I have to find a way of repairing it for long enough before a replacement arrives).

It is, therefore, with great sadness that I have to write this review to warn people who are considering buying Millbrook beds - until they can get their quality back at least. I don't know what they're doing differently, but they need to go back to what they were doing around the turn of the century, an making beds which will last at least the 10 years that they're supposed to last.

Eclipse 3000 double:
Within 10 weeks the mattress loft dropped and you can feel the internal springs and framework of the mattress. Worst mattress I have ever had the displeasure to sleep on.
I bought through another company so I am hoping \i will get a full refund as the bed is not fit for purpose.

I ordered a king sized Millbrook Wool Luxury 4000 Pocket Sprung Mattress through Mattress Online on 16th January 2025.
The delivery service was good but the sides of the mattress were both concave (curving inwards) and the sides were not properly upright. Mattress Online advised me to keep using it and would sort itself out. I tried and turned it over but It didn't improve.
I requested a replacement, this was even worse with a hump running across the mattress as well as also not having straight sides. Mattress Online again told me it would sort out, then that it must have been delivery damage. Again I requested a replacement but alas the third was not better so eventually I received a full refund.
This is a shame as the first mattress was comfortable, less so the following two. I've heard that this company used to make good quality mattresses but changed ownership a few years ago.
I was also disappointed that Mattress Online did not as I had requested check that the replacements were of good quality before sending them to me.
As well as contacting Mattress Online I had emailed Millbrook directly to ask about the issue but received no response.

We purchased the Millbrook 1400 a bed from Dreamland Beds Centre in Brierley Hill king-size 150. This was four years ago and since then we have not had a good nights sleep and I have suddenly over the years developed more pain in my hips and back and have nothing more to say then this is down to the bed. As when we go abroad or when we are staying in a hotel I do not have this level of pain
when I went back to dreamland to share that the bed is incredibly uncomfortable they were very rude and said that there is nothing that they could do , this was even after four weeks of trying the mattress and they said it was a natural fibre so it will naturally soften over time ,load of BS ,do not believe a word They say. so furious and now have to fork out another lot of money for a new mattress

we were so hopeful that it would soften up but after four years this is an absolute joke. I agree with the others Millbrook offers a rotten night sleep cheap material inside ; try to make it look like it is some kind of luxury, but it is an awful experience. Avoid avoid

The millbrook wool luxury 5000 mattress claims to be soft and good for temperature regulation but is neither. Tension is closer to medium and it is so hot to sleep on that a good nights sleep is impossible. Whilst it claims to be made of wool it feels as hot as memory foam. The mattress is also so extremely heavy that making the bed is an ordeal.The side of the mattress developed a dip within 4 weeks.

We have been buying Millbrook beds for over 45 years and never had a problem until a purchase of a mattress for a bed frame in a second home and in the spare bedroom. It has literally been slept on for less than a month in total and has dipped. it has been inspected by Millbrook and guess what they have said that there is nothing wrong with it. Clearly they do not consider a valued customer therefor will not be dealing with Millbrook in the future

Not had this 11,000 spring mattress for long but already I can feel it’s a bad product. Firstly the size is not as per specification as it’s 5cm longer than standard (so it overhangs the base) but more significantly it’s 10cms deeper than specified at about 43cms, which means buying new bedding. It’s also a whopping 53kgs, some 20kg more than most similarly priced single mattresses and more than many doubles. The poor guys delivering it almost gave up. So it’s difficult to turn and flip regularly to meet t&c of warranty. Also I wanted medium sprung but I feel this is more like firm to extra firm as there’s no give and I wake up with aching back and neck. Sales team are looking into these matters but I’m not expecting they can do much. It’s not returnable so we’ll have to make do and I hope it will settled down into something more comfortable. ~£1200 poorly spent.

This mattress is far too heavy for anyone to lift . It is made with material that just heats you up so much the condensation effects your bed frame. It’s comfortable but that’s the only thing I can say about it.

I raised a complaint about a dip in a new mattress (Milbrook's firmest apparently). Millbrook sent a 'technician' to conduct his 'investigation' (the technician's own phrase).

When the technician arrived I told him I had followed the Millbrook care guide. Turned weekly for the first month, and monthly thereafter.

When the technician's report arrived it stated the Millbrook superking mattress was hanging over the edge of the base. Really? It is a Millbrook superking base!

The report also stated I had not followed the care guide and the mattress was only turned every three months. What is the source of this evidence? It is certainly not me. This observation is completely fabricated and a lie.

NB caveat emptor - Milbrook's policy is that a dip (officially known as 'minimal settlement') has to exceed 4cms before it is recognised as an issue. For a firm mattress that is a very big dip!

At the end of the visit I asked the technician what the tolerance was, and he responded it was 5cms. The retailer admitted this was incorrect.

Mattress only not a bed Cost over a£1000 only had it for 15 months after 9 months it started to sag in the middle and got worse as time went by when they came to look at it was told had to sag more than 65% and was told a double is not big enough for 2 peaple should have king sizebed also must not sit on the side of the bed as it make it go down so has our bed had only sag 30% we can’t do anything about it so I will not be buying another mattress from this company.

Purchased a Millbrook Sunset 2000 last year, within weeks the top had sunk in and was like sleeping on a board. After complaining to the shop tgat I purchased it from with many photos sent, the manufacturer sent a replacement a few weeks ago. This one is even worse, there is no comfort, it's rock hard and again the cushion top has sunk after a few weeks. I am in terrible back pain all through the night and now during the day. I could cry! Don't do it, don't buy this mattress, you will regret it!

DO NOT BUY A MILLBROOK MATTRESS UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT IT MEETS YOUR REQUIREMENTS. Bought a Shell 1000 king mattress in November 2022 through Leekes Melksham and soon realised that the top wool etc. layer was leaving an indentation recess where we had laid that could not be smoothed back. We followed their recommended rotation process exactly but you are merely transferring one persons indentation to the other persons side. After 2 months we complained via Leekes who came back with the standard waffle from Millbrook that it was all 'natural settlement' but they could send an 'engineer' to check it at our expense!
We've subsequently also realised that the 'silk, wool, cashmere' topping does not dissipate your body heat as claimed but it actually makes one hotter.
The mattress is so unsatisfactory that we are taking delivery of a new alternative this week and giving the Millbrook to charity.

My new Millbrook mattress arrived yesterday. Firm orthopaedic. This is my second Millbrook orthopaedic mattress. It is just as wonderful as my first one! I know you are supposed to change a mattress every ten years or so but as I flipped my mattress every three months it remained in stunning condition! I used mine for just over 20 years. Didn’t really want to replace it but I’m glad I did. Thank you Millbrook! Here’s to another amazing however long, perfect sleep experience! Beautiful workmanship & quality that can be relied upon. I bought a Millbrook Kingsize mattresses a couple of years ago from Mattress Online. This is the fourth Millbrook mattress I have purchased for our household, unfortunately the quality is much more inferior than previous purchases which were great.

After the settling in period, the mattress developed a significant dip on one side and we started to feel the metal springs that hold the mattress together as there is no filling in this section of the mattress despit us flipping it every two weeks and rotating bi weekly in between - exactly the same as the other report on this site.

After raising this with Millbrook and then Mattress Online and multiple photos submitted, they arranged for an engineer to come out to test the mattress, but obviously his report stated no manufacturing fault; which seems to be the norm to avoid replacing. There is obviously a defect or design fault which should be covered by the guarantee/warranty. Which is heavily advertised and in fact is a scam.

No more Millbrook mattresses for me as you can’t trust their quality anymore.

Purchased a king ortho from beds are uz online. At the time of delivery it appeared that the mattress had been folded in half at some point or bent over for transport. Marks were very visible in the outer polythene my wife pointed this out and we were told not to worry. However the mattress was used as instructed turning weekly etc. Within a few weeks we were suffering roll together into the middle, as it was soft there and we felt the inclined dip towards the middle.
We contacted the retailers who played us of with the manufactures they are close to unless don't communicate with customers but prefer to use the dealers to brunt the conversations. It seemed we had just been fobbed off playing a waiting game for a response. However we persisted because by this time I was sleeping alone my wife had many sleepless nights after rolling into one another, the tears were a result of her many nights of frustration having to go to work literally shattered. Finally the engineer came!!! (after he cancelled us twice) he was a subcontractor from Milbrook beds!!! came to complete an INDEPENDENT REPORT....What a waste of our time he placed a piece of string across the bed which was hardly taught offered a piece of paper to the dip making a dot on the paper he said its just within limits for millbrooks settlement. Outraged my wife challenged him so he laid on the bed and said well I know what you mean but I can't test spring tension that's a big machine that is not part of your home inspection! Time to call the Amex credit card company and report the fobbing off non independent report scam. Pleased to say that they credited me the full sum. However be carful some 5 months later this was recharged to me as BEDS ARE UZZ had submitted the nonsensical Milbrook report stating that it was fine just passing the piece of string test! My wife has slept in a spare bedroom for almost a year now. We are not letting them get away with this even though we are stuck because its not something we can return ourselves due to size weight and bulk. I am now looking into a section 75 claim and looking at getting some legal intervention to assist. Never again Milbrook Never again Beds Are Uzz they both play you off against one another and get fobbed off. On a side note the visit to our home illustrated that the bed base slats were 5mm to far apart we had this work completed by a trades person of course it made no difference but it is a way of getting out of warranty. Brought a super king divan bed soft mattress because of a bad back we had a millbrook a few years ago it was lovely and soft ,I phoned up on arrival of the bed to ask why the base was not a sprung base , they said because your soft mattress is better on a firm base so went on to open the mattress it was not soft so hard ,and uncomfortable, I get out of bed every morning in pain , can't afford another 1600 pounds for another new bed wish I had read if you could have returned this bed it would gave gone back , im happier sleeping on the sofa 😪 don't wake up in so much pain this bed is so hard the pillowtop tuffs stick in your back worst bed I've ever had and stuck with it..
