I encountered an extremely unfriendly man at the shop, unsure if he was an owner or just working there. My visit was around 4:45, and I was searching for a particular item. Right from entering, it seemed he wanted to rush customers out. He approached me to inform me they closed at 5 PM, and I acknowledged it. Shortly after, he reminded me again to be done and checked out by then. This pressure made it hard to focus on my search, and by 4:59, another employee announced closing time. Feeling overwhelmed, I left my items behind, as the man’s dismissive attitude felt disrespectful. When I asked about his behavior, he just smirked and denied any rudeness. I won't be coming back to this store. If the goal is to encourage purchases, making customers feel unwelcome is not the way.

There was a gentleman, not sure if he owns the place or is general staff but he was so incredibly rude towards me. Granted I went in at 4:45. I was looking for something specific but I got the feeling from the moment I went in that he wanted people out the shop ASAP. He came up to me and told me the place closed at 5pm, I responded and said OK thanks. He then came over to me again to tell me I needed to be out and through the til by 5PM. I could not concentrate on finding what I needed and by 4:59PM another member of staff told me the shop was closing. I did not bother to buy what was in my basket because I felt too pressured and the male member of staff looked at me as if I was dirt on his shoe. I asked him why he was so rude and he smirked at me and told me he was not. I won’t be returning to this store again! If you want ppl to buy something then don’t harass them and make them feel unwanted.

Great selection of goods however the parking scam they run should be criminal. I spent around £50 in their shop and parked in their very small customer car park back in July and this week (November) I get a £100 parking ticket because I was there for 51 minutes when 40 was the limit apparently. I am all for supporting independent businesses but not when they rip me off. I will not shop there again, you can get everything they have online for a small postage charge that is nothing compared to the £100 fine I received, so disappointing.

Went in there to have a look around, purchased some food and cases of soft drinks. I was inside for about 45 minutes, went outside and without seeing any parking notices went to get other shopping in town. Its July and the shops are all quiet. Anyway, today I have received a PARKING CHARGE NOTICE for staying longer than 30 mins. (I was in the store for 45 🤔🙄🤔).....Also, MATHEW'S FOODS you need to get a new Manager the one you have is the rudest person I have ever come across.....Bad for business.

Parking fine £100 if you spend more time and money in their shop!
How ridiculous for the customer service at Matthews foods! I went to the shop and spent almost £100 for my regular purchasing, of course I would need time longer than 30 min with that amount of money. However I did not realise that I did spend time longer than 30 min until I received a parking fine ticket later by post, and I was only in the shop without leaving my car or going away to other place.
As everybody knows that the manager ( the short hair Chinese lady) in this shop is super very rude and aggressive. If they think this is the way to treat their customers who came to make them money, I will never ever go back the Matthews foods again.
It is a very unwise customer service. Yet the price in this shop is very expensive and increasing all the time.
I recommend there are some Indian shop and Muslim shops at hill town, and nobody is rude to you as Matthews. Also you can buy online Raanthai or asian food online. It is the next day delivery cost £5 only with an excellent customer service. From now I am happily doing this way, rather than go to the Matthews foods again.
