Frustrating communication
Edit: LaundryRepublic handled this very well, owning up to the mistake on their end and taking steps so that it doesn’t happen to others. As mistakes can always occur, I think this is the best possible way forward and as a result I’m happy to keep using them
I made an order for dry cleaning and a shoe repair. The dry cleaning was returned as expected and I was happy with the service. However, the shoe repair was more frustrating. While the website does state "shoe repairs [..] may take a few extra days", the email I received after the order was picked up (Oct 2nd) stated my order would be returned to my building the next day (Oct 3rd). On Oct 3rd I received a partial delivery without the shoes and the update stated "We will deliver the remaining items as soon as possible". A week later (Oct 10th) I had no updates so I phoned up and the agent could only confirm there was no chance I would receive the shoes before I was due to leave on holiday the next day. Unfortunately this meant I had to make alternative arrangements for shoes.
This could all have been avoided with clearer upfront communication. The original timelines were vague at best, the first email was wrong, the next had no extra clarity and the website at this point was wrongly stating the order had been completed.
