Not a scam, but definitely not a good option.

I applied for The Job Duck after seeing an ad on Instagram. The add was clear about the basic salary: $800 USD for a Virtual Assistant position. This salary in the US is definitely a big no-no (I don't even think it is legal to pay $5/hour there) but the thing is, they're only looking for people offshore. In my country that is definitely not a bad salary, IF it includes any type of benefits (here, the type of contract they offer must include health and retirement benefits, among others).
The thing is, the whole recruiting process is VERY long, VERY time consuming and very little is explained about the position itself.
The process has many different stages, which they call "challenges". Some of them include recording a video and writing an essay talking about why you think companies in the US should hire talent offshore (come on, we all know they do it so they can pay as little as possible...). Keep in mind, they take more than a week to let you know whether or not you "passed the challenge". One of the final steps is an interview. It's the longest interview I've ever had. I do have to say I found the questions interesting and unique, and I actually did very well, but I do think many people could feel intimidated by them. (one of the questions I got was "what's your favorite dish you make and what are the steps to make it").
Keep in mind, by the time I had the interview, it had been over a month since the whole process started and I still knew very little about the position, the company, the salaries, etc.
After I "completed all the challenges" I had a meeting with my "recruiting coach". That's when I finally got more info, and when I realized I had wasted my time on that long process.
So basically: the next step was to start the training process, which they call "Duck University". The training was about a week long and it was paid ($100 USD). After you "graduate" you move on to signing a contract. BUT, this doesn't mean you'll start getting paid, the contract states that you'll move on to the "match-making stage" which means they'll start showing your profile to different companies, and, if they are interested, you'll have interviews and hopefully one of them will take you. Once you're "matched" with a company, that's when you'll start getting paid. it could take weeks from the time you "graduate" to the moment you actually start working. By this point, it's probably been over 2 months since you first applied, and you've only received $100. Keep in mind, graduating and doing the whole matchmaking thing doesn't mean you'll actually find a match.
Now, the salary is $800, as previously stated, but that doesn't include any benefits, doesn't cover any job related taxes your country might have, nothing. In my case, I would have to take around $300 off my salary to pay for different things that must be paid in my country by law.
I know this was a long Review, but I think I would have preferred to take a few minutes reading something like this, rather than wasting over a month with The Job Duck.

Horrible company who found my resume…

Horrible company who found my resume and or my company online. Offering $1000 a month for a marketing position..However when i replied that this is sh@! money especially if they are requiring a degree and that you speak another language..since they are hiring people from Mexico..i just happen to be an american living in mexico..however they sent me emails and whatapps messages for a week asking me to apply and stating we could discuss salary at the time of interview. so i conceived and filled out the application only to recieve an email stating that after careful review they decided not to go ahead with me..its crazy they dont even want to pay minimum wage for a 40 hour work week to people or in this case i guess they think Mexican people are inferior even though its required that that Mexican people must speak read and write english to have the job..If they want english speaking people why not hire americans ..oh because they like cheap labor and profit off others hard work not even paying minimum wage ..which now is $15 an hour in usa and used to be 7.50 an hour ..but they want to pay $6.25 cents an hour..tell them to go f themselves

HONEST REVIEW? HERE YOU GO!

I applied at Job duck for an Administrative position last year. Honestly, I really thought it's a scam given that it's international and because they have a different recruitment process than usual companies. I have little information about the company and it feels too good to be true.

But I continued my application. There are different steps you have to do to have an interview. It was exciting every time I was able to pass these steps. It gave me confidence that I am that incredible team member they are looking for.

Fast forward, I GOT HIRED. And during my first months, Job duck is nothing I imagined. The work culture is great and even though we are 100% virtual I always feel connected with my team.

As a working mom, Job Duck allowed me to be able to attend to my child's needs and achieve my career goals. Today, I am working with them for 1 year and 4 months.

I will always admire this company because they will still see you as human, not just an employee they are paying for to do a certain job. and! I get to work with people from around the world!!!

So glad I took a leap of faith!

At first, I was super skeptical - given all of the scams going around in the job market currently, but I was honestly glad I took a chance!

By doing so, I found an amazing company that supports its employees beyond anything I have ever experienced before. The culture is amazing, and the flexibility of working remotely and having a lot more freedom and time to myself has certainly improved my mental health and wellbeing in general.

The application process is well worth it and there is always someone ready to lend a helping hand. I couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity.

Honestly, if you apply with us, you have nothing to lose, so why not give it a try and let the outcome speak for itself!

Amazing company! You have real growth opportunities and a good salary. I've been working with the Job Duck for almost a year and there are constant challenges, with constant rewards.

I applied through the website. The process was a little longer than with other companies, but it's TOTALLY worth it. The work environment is awesome!

Fantastic Working Environment

I've been working in Job Duck for more than six months and it has been a great experience so far. As used to be paid the least an average Mexican company can, Job Duck has been a relief for my personal life.
Everybody is very friendly and cooperative.
The highly difficult application process is obviously to get the best people possible because they work with US clients that deserve amazing people working with them. In my personal opinion, people that complain about the endless application process aren't worth hiring because they will constantly bring up excuses to not work efficiently and this doesn't align with Job Duck's core values.
The work is a dream: incredibly talented coworkers, above-average payment, possibilities of growth (workly and monetarily), a remote position always, and a great working environment.
It's everything you can wish for a company.

I am from Mexico and the salary is great!

I have been working with Job duck for nine months already, and I couldn't be happier. I am from Mexico, and contrary to what the first comment I read said; the salary I am earning here is far higher than the salary I could get in other companies. I am an engineer, and the best jobs I could apply for were paying half of what I am earning a month here at Job Duck. Plus, I had to commute. Our co-founders are kind and honest people who funded a business where both parties could be happy. Although I haven't been here for long, it upsets me to read offenses to our founders when people do not know the whole background story.

The application process is laborious, but it is worth it. You could work in a company that has a great company culture, competitive salary, and healthy work environment. Nevertheless, you are the only one who can decide whether we are legit or not. If you meet our job description, we are eager to know you, and we will give you a legit job once you have passed each stage of our process. We encourage you to apply, read our job description carefully and check out our application process. The truth is that people make everything we do possible. Accordingly, if you are the incredible person we are looking for, please apply. We need you.

BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT SCHEME ONLINE…

BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT SCHEME ONLINE RECRUITMENT
Before I even begin explaining what happened to me, I want people to know this company takes advantage of people. I want to warn people against this company because it is borderline slavery. But they want to pass themselves off as the most incredible place to work for, investing in advertisements and fake comments. These people put you through a ridiculously grueling, lengthy (weeks/month) interview process where it is OBVIOUS they are looking for people with extraordinary admin/marketing talent and perfect knowledge of the English language, written and spoken, to work remotely for ONLY big US COMPANIES and for ONLY $4 US an hour!!! In the States, a marketing or admin assistant can cost them as much as $45/hour so it is understandable a company needs to save money. But the point is, even though the US company will save a lot, they definitely are NOT paying anywhere near $4/hour. It is JOB DUCK that earns the REAL money, taking advantage of people needing work. In Mexico and SA a cleaning lady earns more. So do people workin in a McDonalds. But the point is, Job Duck recruits the many expats that are now living in Mexico and South America. I researched this company, and found out a mexican and american founded Job Duck with the sole purpose to fill their pockets taking advantage of people. I even have strong doubts that have the job offers are bogus.
My personal experience was, in a nutshell, that I wasted six weeks of my time for nothing. I applied for a position and went through a ridiculously elaborated test even BEFORE sending a CV. (ok... understandable since it is all online, and therefore difficult to see who is on the other side). There are ALL these steps and tests to do (language, personality, actual pics of you holding the name of their company-it is working online...who cares what you look like??? - Only the qualifications are important, right?... In any case, they get back to you with so much delay, it takes like two weeks just to get through this. AND I had to solicit SEVERAL times if they actually received my CV and test results... well I the girl I dealt with did was definitely anything but bright or efficient and spoke very poorly in English. Anyway, things move on and they finally give me an online interview via Zoom (I believe it was to be the last or second-last step)....A MONTH LATER! Noted on my calendar, I connect on Zoom at the hour of the interview (for which I NEVER received a link) but all they had to do is search my name, I was connected. three to five minutes later, not seeing anyone, I immediately contacted the whatsap number I was given AND wrote an email to that contact "fool of a girl" that I had to deal with, to ask what was happening. I kept receiving vague messages (I have copies of all these emails and messages) only to hear that I lost my chance. When asked when it could be rescheduled they would not. Apparently they made a mistake, were no longer interested. I was really angry. Even IF they were not interested anymore (which doesn't make much sense since I am fluent in 4 languages and have more than 8 years of international experience in admin/marketing work), WHY not advise me since they had a month? Why leave me hanging? They are looking for PROFESSIONALS and THEY are ANYTHING BUT PROFESSIONAL. Even the "fool's" supervisor got in touch with me, (her english, by the way, so bad one cannot understand a word she says) and only confirmed saying she was sorry she made me waste 5 weeks of my time.
I am an honest, talented and hard working person who needs to work. It is disgusting how there are so many dishonest people taking advantage of situations and other people.
