I spent a surf coaching week with Pepijn in Vieux Boucau last week, and I absolutely loved it. Everything was perfect! The villa is a really pleasant place to stay, the hosts are super relaxed and welcoming, and the food was amazing. Pepijn is an excellent coach. He is always positive, incredibly enthusiastic, and knows exactly how to motivate you in the right way. Just what I need to improve :).

I didn’t expect to notice progress within just a week, but I definitely did. On top of that, I learned more than enough to keep working on my surfing independently for a while.

I would absolutely recommend this coaching trip to anyone, especially if you've been stuck with your surf skills for a while or if you've never seen yourself surfing on video before. I had a few ingrained habits in my surfing, and Pepijn pointed them out clearly, offering plenty of tips to help me improve my technique.

Thanks Pepijn! Also, a big thank you to Storm for the beautiful footage! I can't wait to see the aftermovie.

Pepijn is echt een goede surfcoach met aanstekelijke passie voor het "vak". De dag was goed gestructureerd en de sfeer ontspannen, maar wel met duidelijke focus op vooruitgang van de deelnemers. Rif010, of een wavepool in het algemeen, leent zich uitstekend voor de coaching sessie en om consequent op één of twee punten van verbetering te letten. De combinatie van theorie en daadwerkelijk surfen was goed. Hoewel een uurtje extra surfen voor mij had gemogen.

Het op het droge oefenen van je turns en uitleg waarom en hoe bepaalde techniek wel of niet werkt was heel nuttig. De videoanalyse werd heel knap opgepakt door Pepijn. Hij wist persoonlijk bij alle deelnemers van elk niveau a.h.v. de videobeelden haarfijn te vertellen waarom iets niet lukte tijdens het surfen en tips te geven hoe dit bij de volgende sessie beter te doen. Hij is eerlijk en niet bang om aan te stippen wat je beter zou kunnen doen, qua techniek en board keuze. Ik surf al ruim 20 jaar, maar zonder de coaching van Pepijn had ik wellicht nooit gezien wat ik al 20 jaar verkeerd doe waardoor ik teveel snelheid verlies in mijn bottom turns.

De coaching van Pepijn was voor mij de investering absoluut waard.

What an unforgettable week in Vieux Boucau! The location was perfect, the people were amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. Pepijn is not just an incredible surf coach, he’s also an amazing human being who makes every session fun, inspiring, and deeply valuable. He has a rare gift for breaking down all the elements of surfing in a way that clicks instantly. I’ve learned more in one week than I could have imagined and left with the confidence and tools to keep pushing my surf skills further. I can recommend Pepijn’s coaching weeks to every surfer who wants to make progress. Amazing people with the same goal, delicious food, beautiful accommodation and great care. Pepijn has a fresh perspective on surfing and an incredible amount of knowledge and experience. He manages to share his expertise in a very positive, motivating, and clear way, while also encouraging you to think for yourself. He provides just the right amount of improvement points so you know what to work on without feeling overwhelmed. At the same time, he highlights what is already going well and coaches both in and out of the water in a truly enjoyable way. He’s also open to talking about anything that comes up during the week. I know exactly what to focus on at home now and definitely learned alot.

Storm, our videographer, was of great added value this week. The week was full of inspiring conversations, lots of surfing, searching for spots, and having fun. Big thanks to Pepijn, Storm, and the rest of the group. Will be back!

If I were to describe Pepijns surf coaching trip to France in a couple of words, they would be Pure Joy.

First of all, the cozy stay, delicious food, amazing people, awesome waves, beautiful surroundings and fun activities made the week unforgettable for sure. I have not felt so energized in ages: from moments to heartfelt laughter and spontaneous dancing on the streets to deep conversations about random psychological theories...

Next, the surfing. As a real surf nerd, I could indulge myself in catching waves, practicing on land, attending video anysis and question-bombing Pepijn without hestitation, as he was always eager to listen and advice. This trip truly offers the possibility to (literally) dive deep into both practice and theory.

Pepijn "himself" is an amazing coach: for example, he uses mataphors to explain surf theory and won't stop until it really "clicks" in your mind, validates all the (sometimes hard) feelings that come with surfing, and takes time to explore where you're at in your surfing journey and personalizes his approach accordingly. His kind and patient personality combined with years and years of experience makes his coaching the most valuable I've ever had.

Whereas I felt stuck in my surfing process before this trip, I've got a totally new sense of direction after...plus a couple of new friends and heart warming memories for life.

In short: if you're looking to actively work on your surfing and get to know your next steps, if you want to experience what real surf coaching is like, and if you also want to have a super fun week off, this is it.

Had the pleasure of going on a 10 day coaching trip to the Maldives with Pep and the crew from Renegade Surf Travel during August 2025.

Had an epic time start to finish - not only did we score great conditions, but the quality of the coaching far exceeded my expectations.

As someone who’d never had any coaching since beginner lessons 20 years ago, I was a bit sceptical on how a difference it could make in such a short space of time. Pep’s clear, concise guidance was always spot on, and has has helped me really break through a long plateau in my abilities.

As a landlocked surfer, really appreciated the simple one / two things to bear in mind any time I surf, which I’ve no doubt will keep me well on the progression journey. Great to break down other guests technique as a group too so that everyone benefits from each others’ advice.

Already looking to book again next year!

Recently returned from a trip in the Maldives with Pepijn as the coach. I was really impressed with the entire experience and would highly recommend Pepijn. What really stood out to me was his ability to identify precise areas to improve and relay the information in a succinct and easily understood manner. I really appreciated when before a session he would go around and ask what one thing we were focusing on. This helped me narrow in my session and almost always walk away with some level of progress. But above all else, what I realized was the best part of working with Pepijn was, after the trip I was more excited to surf than I had been in a long time. Mostly because I felt Pepijn had instilled the knowledge and confidence in myself to take my surfing to the next level and have been eager to continue to apply his teachings. Looking forward to another one with Pep!

After decades riding waves, Pep's honest perspective was a revelation. His expert insight felt less like instruction and more like unlocking and rekindling my surfing passion. Listening to him breaking down the mechanics of surfing in the group each evening was motivating and refreshing. I am now armed with better knowledge, confidence and understanding and can't wait to put it into practice. Thank you Pep!

In the beginning of august I had my very first experience with the Maldives and with Pepijn as a surf coach, and it honestly couldn’t have been better. The Renegade boat was super comfortable, the crew made everything smooth, and the chef spoiled us daily with fresh, delicious food. Add to that a fun international group and incredible surf spots, and you already have the ingredients for a dream trip.

What made it truly special though was the coaching. Pepijn is a genuinely kind and approachable person with a great coaching style. His daily no-nonsense video analysis helped me clearly see what to work on. He focused only on the things that really make a difference for each individual and he managed to create a safe and supportive environment for learning.
For a first trip, I couldn’t have asked for more and I’ll definitely come back for another round! Highly recommended.

I’ve been surfing with Pepijn as my coach for four years now. When we started, I was riding soft tops. Today I’m working on cutbacks and turns on my shortboard. He’s taught me so much about technique and style, and the progress has been incredible.

Recently, I joined Pepijn on a surf trip to the Maldives, something I’d been looking forward to for a long time. My main goal was to become more comfortable in bigger waves, and this trip truly pushed me there. Pepijn was my anchor of safety throughout, he coached me through my fears and helped me go from feeling terrified to finding real comfort in overhead waves. Step by step he encouraged me to get closer to the peak, joining me in wipeouts, taking bombs on the head together, and always cheering the loudest when I scored a big one.

Was on a 10day boat trip and Pepijn was the surf coach for the surfers and he was incredible. Explained things thoroughly in a comprehensible way and gently reminded and was so encouraging. His insight and knowledge on surfing was inspiring and I have been surfing for 30yrs so I was shocked by how much more I could learn from him.

This was my first trip to the Maldives and first time having coaching with Pepijn and what an unforgettable experience it was. As a female surfer who surfs beach breaks at home, I started the trip feeling a little nervous and out of my depth. Cut to day 10 and I felt totally confident in the line up thanks to support from Pep, battling out at the peak amongst the guys. Pep is a clear and concise coach, with great insights and a personalised approach to improving your surfing. I saw improvement during the trip and have plenty to work on at home. Would highly recommend and I hope to do more in the future.

In August, I went on my second coaching trip with Pepijn in Central Atolls of the Maldives, which was even better than the first. Last year, Pepijn helped me develop the foundations of surfing including speed generation, bottom turns, and top turns. This year, we started putting these pieces together with flow on more critical waves, and I’m stoked to keep on progressing. Sailing around the Maldives for 10 days while surfing 6 hours a day was an adventure by itself, but making incredible progress on my surfing with Pepijn made the trip exceptions. Already looking forward to running it back next year!

I had an amazing Renegarde surf trip in the Maldives together with surf coach Pep. Pep is the hardest-ripping surf coach out there, his coaching was top-notch, clear, and tailored to my level. I learned so much, improved my technique and had an absolute good time. Highly recommend him to anyone wanting to take their surfing to the next level.

I’ve trained with Pepijn twice now, and he’s one of the most well-rounded and dedicated surf coaches I’ve met. His coaching goes beyond technique and positioning — he knows surfing is as much mental as physical. He’s constantly refining his approach, always finding better ways to help students progress. Went to the maldives with renegade surf and Pepijn as our coach. This was the best surfing trip i’ve made so far. Everything you want is there. The best food, top notch coaching with video analysis and an amazing crew to make sure you get the most out of the trip. Pepijn is such an skilled surfer and coach who knows all the pitfalls and knows how to deal with them. His feedback was so on point that made my surfing improve so much. I’ll never forget this trip and the things that i learned.
