They work for the insurance company. Not you. Avoid avoid avoid.
If your insurance company ever says the words Sidney hoopers then just say no. They are not independent and they are in fact working for the insurance company. They are totally clueless. They are rude. Their assessors don’t care about you or your car or circumstances. They will never call you back. I can’t begin to tell you how bad they are. Avoid them at all costs. I really wish I had read all the negative reviews before I allowed these coy boys to look at my car. Avoid avoid avoid.

Not the first time having to deal with Hoopers, remember they work for the insurance company and not you so will make sure the insurance company doesn't pay out too much, you will never get a good report from them, the value they put on the car would never buy you a replacement one or a similar one if it written over usually about 1-2k under market value. Mine is an unusually high spec car, they valued optional extras at 5k when it has 10k on, but when disputed they claim I am wrong even though I provided evidence from Audis price list, definitely under qualified to do the work they do, good at reading a book that tells them what the average is but that's about as competent as they get
Very disappointing service
My car (a Jaguar 2005 XK8) was involved in a fire at a bodyshop and was subsequently written off and as I was unable to agree a settlement with the 3rd party insurer I went to my own insurer for help. Sorting things out with my insurer were a little slow to start with but when they needed to value my vehicle they instructed Hoopers to do so. The car had been set on fire and doused in water by the fire brigade and sat in a pound for quite a number of weeks so was probably in quite a state when the Hoopers engineer went to see it. I felt he seemed very intent on valuing the vehicle as it was in its present state and not how it was prior to the fire. His valuation was extraordinarily low. My insurer must have questioned his valuation too as they involved their Senior Technical Engineer to provide a valuation due to the 'unique nature of the car' as they put it and they offered me more than treble his valuation. In my opinion the Hoopers Engineer didn't have the required experience or expertise for this particular valuation and cannot possibly have done his research fully before providing his valuation. The car was not a run of the mill vehicle but a final edition very high specification one which is not easily replaced. Very disappointed with the lack of knowledge displayed.

inspector accused me of switching my allows over which I didn't he was rude and must have been a psychic. same as one of the other reviews these inspectors are there to dispute accident damage to reduce insurance payouts for the insurer. they don't do the the honest thing and inspect actual damage causing by a accident. cowboys

Avoid had them today failed to accept painting undamaged parts is not acceptable i do not care wether its industry standard the fact is there was no damage to repair so why was my car painted at a cost off god knows what when there was no damage on it
Expert advice
Brilliant to deal with, not just because I got the outcome I wanted but because of the amount of knowledge the experts have.
Wouldn't hesitate to use them again, and recommend them at the first instance.
My Mercedes benz Repair
Hi,
I have a 2012 Mercedes slk250 cdi.
In January the lacquer in the paintwork began to peel. This ended up in a couple of weeks spreading to most parts of the car.
I contacted my insurance company to see if I was covered, they said yes and sent Hoopers to examine the problem
The guy, can't remember his name but he was very thorough even though he said it wasn't an insurance claim, but a report from them may strengthen any further claim from MB or my finance company .
I began to do some investigating online and found that MB has had issues with the red paintwork on cars which included mine, so I had Hoopers write a report (£300) which did come back as original paintwork issues.
Matt from Hoopers assisted my claim all through the process of trying to ask for a repair to my car.
The result? MB have agreed to do the work (at a cost of probably £4000+) on warranty.
Fantastic!!!
A big thank you to all Hoopers Engineers & a special thanks to Matt.
I would not hesitate to use and recommend this company, thank you.
Poor investigation
Poor investigation. Insurance company's authorised repairer made a serious error and caused a big problem resulting in a £6000 repair bill plus ancillary costs. Their engineer called the likely culprit who said - not us mate - no name or position - and subsequently advised their client, the Co-op insurance that the repairer is not at fault. Made no effort to audit the repair instructions that resulted in the error because the instructions prove the error. Result is that the Co-op rejected the claim so we are now seeking an independent decision via the Financial Services Ombudsman and 100% confident that we will win. Watch this space..Should have updated this but now with further investigation on my part I agree that the bodyworkshop did not commit the error. However, I still think the investigator could have done a much better job in reasearch rather than just relying on what was said.
When Insurers Requested An Inspection
As a 3rd party claimant and victim in a road collision, Hoopers were asked by the Insurers to inspect my cycle for damages. Photo's were taken, quotes requested etc All in all, I found their representative Andrew Carr courteous, professional and experienced in moving the claim through. Thank you Hoopers for not complicating it!
Very poor standard of inspection - avoid
Very poor standard of inspection. Would not recommend at all.
Three inspections needed as part of a car repair (no fault accident), rude inspector, hit from rear, and each time, the inspector has missed very obvious parts that were either approved to repair and not done, not estimated when they should have been, yet he was ready to sign it all off as complete had I not pointed these out. Delays caused to my repair due to failures by them.
Contradictions between two inspectors as to what is approved to repair and the second then says it is not and down to age.
Some basic flaws in the work that should have been picked up if being inspected properly were not. Very very poor.
Then also failed to keep me the customer informed about material work being done to my car. It seems me, the customer, doesn't matter.
Was also not given sufficient notice of the appointment on the day twice. Unacceptable.
No regard or proper communication with me the car owner and inspector has failed to take sufficient photos at the entry point. They also repeatedly fail to call me back.
Wrongly told there should be a check out sheet.
Incorrectly fitted front windscreen that rattles, rain sensor not fitted correctly with wires showing, front dashboard now creaking, rear tailgate bent and hitting the new bumper in 4 places, rear bumper alignment is wrong, top of rear is still bent, spots in the glass I was told to be a "flaw in the layers of laminate glass" except Citroen HQ and Autoglass confirm its not even laminate glass, etc.
Very poor inspection - I would not recommend them.
Failed to return my calls when I rang to log the additional problems.
UPDATE:
Hoopers ignored the complaint I logged with them about missing items by their car inspector, e.g. windscreen wrongly fitted and rattling. They simply ignored me, and informed me only after I chased them for a response, that Hastings Direct had instructed them to ignore me. I queried why they were doing what Hastings asked if they were independent, clearly this shows a complete lack of independence of Hoopers. It was a sham of a car inspection. Do not use, they are not "independent inspectors" as they claim, they the inspectors of the insurer!
