Disappointed with attitude of staff , first person went on holiday second person passed me onto someone else .in the end I decided that they were so incompetent that I would look elsewhere.Was pushed from pillar to post , told me everything was OK and then sent for £290 which I paid immediately, waited one week and was advised that all paperwork had not been completed, it eventually turned up , by this time I was disgusted with HIPPO and cancelled , asked for my money back to no avail , in fact I have been completely ignored...there goes my dosh. Last time I contacted HIPPO I have asked them to return my hard earned cash , but suddenly they are deaf

I’ve rewritten your review in clear, natural English while keeping the facts and your experience intact. It reads professionally but still conveys your frustration.
I don’t normally leave reviews, but I felt I had to in this case.
The one star is for the salesperson, Warner, who was helpful throughout the purchase. I test-drove the car, liked it, and paid cash for a Land Rover Evoque (registration KM71 JJE). I collected it on the Wednesday just before the bank holiday weekend.
On the Friday, I noticed a problem selecting first gear. When my husband came home, I asked him to drive it to make sure it wasn’t just me, but he experienced the same issue. It was clear the car had a fault.
I contacted Hippo on the Saturday and was told to get in touch with A1, their warranty provider. They instructed me to take the car to my local garage for a diagnostic report. My local garage diagnosed the car as needing a new clutch. Wanting a second opinion, I took it to another independent garage, who confirmed exactly the same issue. They advised that the car needed a new clutch and dual-mass flywheel at an estimated cost of £3,500.
This all happened just two days before my 14-day, no-quibble money-back guarantee expired. A1 then asked the garage to dismantle the vehicle and provide photographs before they would consider the claim. The garage charged me £78 for the diagnostic work, which I have never been reimbursed for, leaving me out of pocket. Garages are busy businesses, and it’s unreasonable to expect them to dismantle a vehicle immediately without charge.
At that point, I decided I had lost all confidence in the car and informed Hippo that I would be returning it under the 14-day guarantee. I returned the vehicle on day 14, but nobody could tell me when I would receive my refund. It then took another 14 days for my money to be returned, and when it finally arrived, they had tried to short-change me, which caused even more unnecessary stress.
To add insult to injury, the car was advertised back on their website for sale before I had even received my refund.
The reason it’s taken me so long to write this review is because I hoped, with time, I would calm down and perhaps see things differently. Unfortunately, I still feel exactly the same.
The sales process was excellent, but the after-sales service and the way this issue was handled were extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend buying from Hippo.

I left a deposit for a car. A few days later I was informed they could not sell it as it had mechanical issues. I said fine, please refund me. A few days later, I was told the refund had been processed. 9 days later, I haven’t received my refund so I had to call them. They said to fill in a complaint form and they will look into it and process refund. This then took another two weeks. All in all, 3.5 weeks to get my refund. They send you long emails explaining and trying to justify the delay. Stop all this nonsense and try to be professional. All this headache to get my money back as you couldn’t sell the car to me. Very disappointing and poor level of service if you want to call it service!
