I paid a deposit to Harmony BYD Bristol South to secure a new BYD,, we did not go ahead and I requested the return of my deposit.

I was told it would be refunded within 14 days.

Unfortunately it never arrived.

I repeatedly chased the dealership, receiving excuse after excuse; accounts team are in China, back in next week, accountant on holiday.

I spoke to the manager, who claimed to be unaware of my refund request- despite being cc'd into every email.

He promised to get back to me, but didn't.

Irony is BYD make excellent cars. My experience isn't with the product—it's with the dealership at Brislington, South Bristol.

Their customer service and handling of something as simple as a refund is extremely poor.

It seems the only way we will recover this now is through court action.

Suggest you avoid this dealership.

I arrived over an hour late for my appointment due to unusually high level of traffic to have an investigation on My BYD Seal. It turned out there were road closures on M25 and A13. What should have been a 25 min journey turned into 1.5 hours. Despite how late I was, they still accommodated, and also confirmed the problem I was having with the car which Alan Day Group (BYD New South Gate) were unable to diagnose after 3 separate visits.

BYD Harmony UK (BYD Lakeside) confirmed the issue is a glitch in the Seal software with CarPlay where the front cameras turn off and switches to CarPlay when you move from reverse to drive without the car moving. The cameras should stay on till you go over 5mph. They stay on when connected to Android Auto and when not connected to CarPlay. They replicated the fault in other Seals, but it works fine in other models of BYD (UDMI, Sealion 7, etc). Looks like this will need a fix in the BYD software.

Apart from confirming this what I’m truly greatful for was how they looked after me, my wife and my daughter. That traffic was awful. Whilst at the showroom for at least 3 hours, we could see the traffic was at a literal standstill. The duel carriageway had truck and car drivers standing on the road. The same vehicles in the same position from the time we arrived. We heard reports of multiple accidents and a jackknifed lorry on the bridge, and whilst on route to the showroom we saw signs saying the M25 was closed. We drove our car into the TGI Fridays car park next door to BYD and went to do some shopping at Lakeside. 3 hours later we returned to find traffic had not moved in either direction. Facebook posts from the area showed people had not moved for over 6 hours. Police reports on Facebook said that the road on the bridge needed to be resurfaced due to the damage and it was unlikely to be reopened till at least 2am and traffic would start to ease up thereafter. We saw the staff at BYD Lakeside as we drove out of TGI Fridays car park. They said they were sleeping at the showroom and kindly allowed us to park our car in their car park and allowed us to charge our car. I kept an eye on the traffic and finally at about 1:30am I saw the traffic starting to clear. I knocked on the showroom door and the staff lifted the barriers to let us out. We got home about 40 mins ago.

The staff went above and beyond and I am really greatful for their kindness. Top marks to the staff here and I hope their business grows as the result of this.
