Less than a year ago
Less than a year ago, I solicited Hanson Roofing’s services for roofing and gutter services. Regrettably, the gutters have collapsed and sustained damage for several months. I initiated contact with a company representative, who assured me that the issue would be addressed. However, despite months of no follow-up, I was informed that the company does not cover damages resulting from the winter storm, even though the roof and gutters were installed less than a year ago. The workmanship was subpar, and the company has now refused to rectify the problem, instead requesting that I contact my homeowner’s insurance for repairs. This situation is unacceptable, as I paid over $20,000 for a service that failed to last over a year before exhibiting defects.
Non-disparagement agreement, hostages
Do not hire 1800 hansons to do any work in your home, you will regret it like we do. It is a real long story, but I’m leaving out the details to make it short on Here. We had the 1st shower installed, and the plumbing leaked into the basement. It had to be completely removed and a 2nd new shower had to be reinstalled. We found that the 2nd new shower was not installed properly with no proper support under the shower pan. Also the shower pan does NOT fit and is the wrong size for our floor
New update: 1 800 Hansons flagged this review, lol truths hurts! New update: Marvin Glazer who is a customer relations specialist wants us to sign a non-disparagement agreement before continuing the shower repair/ replacement. I told Mr Glazer that this is against the federal law Act- C.R.F.A. This Federal law makes it illegal for businesses to use non-disparagement clauses to prevent consumers from posting truthful negative reviews online. Mr. Glazer said we can’t go forward with the replacement of our shower if we don’t agree and sign the agreement. The fight for our rights as consumers continues. Gary Sherman (Regional Manager) from Lansing called and said we have to sign the non-disparagement agreement if we want to get our shower reinstalled and finished. I gave him a big NO! The flight continues!
8 years and two large roof leaks not associated with damage
Hansons installed a new roof 8 years ago on my home. We had a major leak in the first month that left damage to the interior walls and ceiling. Now we have another leak with damage inside the house and Hansons can't seem to get it fixed. The first Hansons repair guy arrived last month with no tools and no ladder and told me he couldn’t do anything until the snow was off the roof. I got the snow off of the roof with a broom and some ice melt. After several more phone calls, they came back the next day with tools and a tube of caulk. The caulk didn't work. A month has passed and we still have the leak. My repair appointment keeps getting delayed for weather while water is still getting inside my home. I’ve gone into the attic to see and photograph the leak. The wet roof deck is spongy and the cellulose insulation is ruined in the area of the leak. The Hansons “warranty” isn't any good if they can't get to my house or, when they do, they can’t fix the leak. There is no visible damage to the roof and no trees near that part of the house, so it probably has something to do with the installation. I deeply regret hiring Hansons to install my roof and have reluctantly decided to have the roof fixed by another company at my own expense. My wife and I have experienced a lot of stress and frustration as we watch the plaster come off the wall and ceiling in our bedroom. This has been and continues to be a bad experience for us. And it is worth mentioing that everyone I've dealt with at Hansons, going all of the way back to the roof install have been freindly. They've tried to be helpful too. But maybe the company is too big or they have a shortage of workers.
Go somewhere else if you plan a shower…
Go somewhere else if you plan a shower with 1-800-hansons. 13000 dollars later, shoddy installation, clean up was non existent and left my carpets and front yard a mess, threshold in front of shower is a piece of wall rigged onto the floor with silicone, which is coming up only 1 day later, pocket door will not open and shut easily as it did before installation, hurried install, leaking pipes into our basement! Missing drain gasket, No sealant on the bottom of the shower door leaving space for leaks. Shower shelves are improperly spaced. Not a happy customer and will not be doing any business with Hansons in the future. Highly frustrated to have paid so much. UPDATE: 9-2025 Still WAITING ON FINAL THRESHOLD FOR FRONT OF SHOWER, AFTER HANSONS UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL in June! WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! GOING ON 8 MONTHS. UPDATE 11-19-25: 10 months of stress and Hansons has installed our shower improperly again, no threshold for shower and bare floor in front of shower. Shower pan was ordered to small for the area and no support underneath pan, only shimmied. We were willing to let Hansons get the job done correctly a 3rd time but apparently they do not have the proper size pan for our shower and cannot order it. Now we are left with an unfinished shower and must take further action to try and get our money back!! Update 12-31-2025 BBB complaint with company: they are finished with our shower and will not refund, replace or fix the mess. Regret the day I let this company into our home.
Terrible customer service and wrong size windows installed
On 5/29/2025 i signed an agreement to purchase windows with salesman Evan Carlson for 9 double hung triple pane deluxe series windows and one sliding glass door replacement. On 8/6/2025 our windows were installed after the very first window was removed and the replacement installed i noticed the window was smaller and had a very large gap around the entire window, i asked the installer about this and he stated that they've been having this problem with 1-800 hansons lately. i then told the installer Jake this was an issue as the gap around the window was significant and how would it be fixed he stated they would spray foam insulated around them I was not happy with this reply and he said he could call Scott from Hansons and he did Scott assured me that theyd look great once installed I told Scott im concerned about the gap and filling it with spray foam as well as the sizing as the measurement was 36x79 and these windows were 34.5 x 78 he said le them install the 2 they already had out and if i wasn't happy they'd stop and we could discuss other options or discount if i was willing to accept them i had to leave for work for about2.5 hrs and when i returned they had taken all 9 windows as well as the sliding glass door out and installed the new windows they were finishing up the trim work I told him i was not happy as the spray foam was not solid from what i was seeing and the windows were smaller not what i ordered he stated that Scott would call me that afternoon or tomorrow to discuss options. They trimmed out our interior of the patio door with metal trim and where the gaps were in the floor from the old door being larger they put down a couple wood blocks on each end and filled the very large gap with a ton of caulk. which looks terrible I have called Scott and many other customer service agents with no luck in reaching Scott, a tech has been out due to windows being extremely hard to open.. To this day there has been no resolution and no return calls. they agreed the sliding door is faulty and order a new one however i have yet to hear from them further about this door . i have called and emailed Scott with NO replies ever. id give negative starts if able to do so

I had hason come out to give me a quote. He measure my window gave me a qoute. And said he wouldn't be coming back out if I didn't decide today. Cause it take to much of his time. That's when I told him I just wanted a qoute. He press forward for my information which I did give him. And greensky approve me for 13,000. When I told him I just wanted a qoute. And wasn't ready yet cause I just open a line of credit somewhere else. So he explain that he will tell his boss that no one will be coming back out to my house. At all. Amen bad business from sales men he don't listen to the customer just wanted a sale.
Miserable experience with ongoing consequences to…
We used Hanson's to add a new roof to our home a couple of years ago. About 24 to 26 months later, we attempted to sell the house. The roof completely failed inspection and was full of mold. At the time of the roofing project by Hanson's, there was a lot of wood that was supposed to be replaced. We strongly doubt that it was replaced. We lost our buyer and therefore were delayed in order to find another buyer. The consequence of this was that we were only able to put 5% down on a new house and therefore have struggled with a higher mortgage rate and although we have done a recast, we're paying PMI which we should never have had to pay for. Hanson's did honour the warranty which seemed dependent upon our lawyer contacting them to speed up the process. During the redo of the roof, when I asked Marvin Glazer who was in charge of the redo (VP of customer relations) how much wood was actually added, he just ignored me. Funny how he accidentally happened to send a private email meant for someone else to me then asked me to destroy it. So he did not fall off the face of the earth but wanted no more communication with me? That's what I assume, but do not know. I believe Hanson's is capable of doing a good job but because they outsource their jobs in so many cases, the outsourcing companies may not be reliable. Beware.
Update after Hanson response
I have been requesting a copy of my contract from Hanson's for weeks. On the day of the sale, the salesperson promised a paper copy in the mail within a few days. Still Waiting. Have called him and e-mailed him, but no response. Called the office number on his card and was hung up on twice. Called Hanson's main number and was transferred to a person who said she would send a digital copy to my e-mail address, which she verified with me. Still Waiting. All reputable companies I have worked with in the past have provided me with a contract copy without my asking. I don't know when my conversion project (tub to walk in shower) will be done, but I need the contract copy to review what is being installed is what was agreed upon. Want to be able to recommend Hanson's to others, but their lack of compliance to my request does not bode well for the company. I am a senior seventy-seven years old. When I grew up, a promise made was a promise kept.

Initial Experience Good, Warranty Repair Horrible
I am sharing my experience so you can understand how 1-800 Hansons processes warranty repairs for a lifetime warranty. Up front we were happy with everything 1-800 Hansons did with the install of our new siding and new roof. However, when it comes to warranty repairs beware. On June 16th I called to submit a warranty request for a single piece of siding that had come undone and is hanging down the side of our house. I received confirmation of my claim via email the same day after submitting photos. Approximately 5 days later I received a phone call and the person asked a few questions and said she was sending it on to scheduling which could take up to 48 hours. After two days, no one called me back, so I reached out and with my order number they were able to schedule a repair date. I am now in a cycling loop with repair dates and no confirmation that the 5th repair date will actually transpire. Below are the details. Repair date number 1 was scheduled for Thursday, July 10 between 8am and 12pm. I received a phone call on the evening of July 9th that they needed to move that date because the team was not finished with a previous job. Repair date number 2 was then scheduled for Tuesday, July 15 between 8am and 12pm. I received a phone call on the evening of July 14th that the lift had broken and the team would need to reschedule. I shared with the individual that the Hanson's contractor who installed our siding never used a lift but used a ladder the entire time. Nevertheless, they had to reschedule. Repair date number 3 was then scheduled for Thursday, July 17th between 8am and 12pm. I received a phone call on the evening of July 16th that the team needed to reschedule. At this point, I voiced some frustration. Each time they schedule the repair, I need to arrange for a vacation day. The woman on the phone said she would try to get them to me sooner and she was going to call the branch office to see what was going on. I never heard back. Repair date number 4 was then scheduled for Tuesday, July 22 between 8am and 12pm. I did not receive a phone call the night before but did get the reminder email so I figured this was the date we would get our 1 piece of siding about 10ft long that is hanging down repaired. I took the vacation day and waited. About 9:45 am that morning I received a phone call indicating that they needed to reschedule me to a week out. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was put on hold and then told the supervisor was in a meeting but the customer service rep would put in a "red-tag" to the supervisor to call me back. After several other calls and finding a number on the BBB website and making calls, I finally got a call back from the Supervisor of Scheduling (name withheld). She said there was nothing they could do that their contractor team was still on a previous job that has been delayed constantly. I asked her about sending 1 person to do the repair that should take less than 30 minutes (albeit they will most likely have to order a new piece of siding and I'll be waiting again). She said this team does not send 1 person to complete a repair but in the past other teams have done this. I have no idea what siding project takes 6 weeks. Ours from demo to final install and trim took 2 1/2 days for 2 people. When we got the siding and new roof there were a few things that needed to be fixed and Hansons had someone out right away. That was in 2022, I am not sure what has happened in the last 3 years, but none of the folks we dealt with are working for Hansons anymore. I asked the Supervisor of Scheduling to have her supervisor call me. I received a call from her this morning indicating her supervisor was not going to call me back but the general manager from the Des Moines Branch would call me. As of writing this review, I have not heard from him and we shall see if anyone shows up on July 29th. I was patient and understanding with the first two reschedules but now we're being gaslighted.

Called about 2 months ago regarding a shower you put in, at first I thought the shower door wheel was broke when I called. When they finally called to schedule appointment I had discovered that wheel had come not broken which I told caller. He said he would have to turn this over to someone else because wheel was just off not broken??
Haven’t heard a word since. Also installers didn’t leave paperwork for shower valve or for shower doors which I may need in future.
Please advise

Amazing after posting this review I received a call from Hansons and problem has been rectified.

We contracted with Hansons to install…
We contracted with Hansons to install gutter guards on our home. We ran into several snags and snafus.
First, a color change in the gutter guards was made within one hour of signing the contract. A change in contract was made with the salesperson. A day or so before the installation, we wanted to confirm the color change was active. It was not. I provided documentation that the change in contract was made. I informed the salesperson about the mistake. His response, "Wow my bad - I was driving when we did the CIC. Sorry about that - she has it now!".
Wow my bad?!?! The change occurred because I inquired, not because of the salesperson's doing.
Secondly, the job was done by a third party. We were not informed of this prior to signing the contract. In fact, we have learned that Hansons does not do any work but subcontracts all jobs. This misrepresents facts in both advertising and sales.
To add on to this, if Gish’s Gutters were subcontracted by Hansons, we probably could have hired Gish’s Gutters to do the job for a lessor amount.
Third, we did not receive a call prior to the installation crew arriving. When I spoke to a Hansons' representative on the phone regarding this, I was told an email/text was sent giving a window of time, 8am - 12pm. However, an email from Hansons reads:
"Your Project Coordinator will contact you the morning of your appointment to explain what to expect to take place that day and answer any questions you may have about the installation."
This call never occurred.
In all honesty, I cannot provide a review on Hansons' work because Hansons did not pick up a tool to do the installation. I can, however, provide an evaluation for Gish's Gutters. They were extremely professional and installed a product that was to our satisfaction. I would recommend Gish’s Gutters to other people.

NEVER USE HANSONS EVER. Got a roof replaced and told the salesman we had cedar shake shingles numerous times during the initial appointment. Well he never checked the cedar shake box then lied and told the company we never informed him we had cedar shake. Told him the reason we were nervous using Hansons due to before when we called Hansons they tried to charge an extra 10000 outside of financing. The sales man told us if we get everything done that needed to be done he could guarantee we would not have to pay an extra 10k out of pocket. Fast forward now Hansons is trying to bully us into paying 10k and taking us to court for it even put a lien on our home!! I HATE HANSONS

Retracting
I issue this retraction to address statements I previously published regarding 1 800 Hanson. My original comments expressed my own perspective on my experiences and were not intended to harm the company’s reputation.it is important to know that my intention was not intended to defame or harm Hansons, my feedback was intended to share my experience which align with similar concerns raised publically by others.
However to avoid further complications and distractions I have chosen to retract my previous statements. My initial comments were based on my personal experience and understanding of the situation at the time. Upon further consideration and interest of fairness, I acknowledge that certain aspects of my statements may have been inaccurate. Specifically I retract my review and I would like to issue a formal correction regarding wording on statements “ pushy, lied, abusive or promises not honored or fraud” this were my personal opinions and interpretations and feelings at the moment specially some based on true events, that are protected by free speech laws.
My intent was to share my genuine experience and inform like other consumers having the same experiences, not to harm Hansons maliciously.Since then Hansons and my business relationship with them are in the right direction and they work hard to continue to maintain their reputation.
Bad marketing Practices
They are sending mail to my new construction addressed to relatives who live out of state. When I called to ask about marketing the lady said they don't send mailers, when I clearly had one in my hand, so then she clarified that "her department" doesn't send mailers which seems like a bad cover-up.

Poor support
I've had an ongoing issue with Hansen's regarding a couple of their Windows they installed in my house. I replaced most of my windows with Hanson Windows and one window in particular I've had several problems with over the years. They send a repairman here and he never seems to have the right parts. They say they will call me with a new scheduled appointment and they never call. I have to call them back. This is been going on for over a year. Quite frankly I do not recommend Hanson Windows. Their repair staff does not seem to be efficient at the parts that need to be ordered to be able to make the proper repairs. I've had the repairman out here several times for the past couple years. Like I said no one ever calls me back but yet I keep calling them and getting the runaround.

It would be 0 if I could
It would be 0 if I could. I purchased the windows for the lifetime warranty, but it's not worth it. The installers they hire are incompetent. They cut my siding back to far and removed insulation board. They replaced the siding with thin tin trim and in the middle of winter I have a massive amount of cold air coming in doubling my heating bill. So when in warms up I am going to have to fix the windows for next winter.

Find another window company
Got new windows a little over 3 years ago.
Strike #1 - I was given an install date of July and they never came out November.
Strike #2 - They were 1 screen short for my upstairs windows. I was told they would be by the following week, it never happened.
Strike #3 - Windows don't lock properly
Strike #4 - My home is very breezy... worse than it was before the install.
Strike #5 - The one bedroom window doesn't close all the way and it's January!
Strike #6 - My heating bill is is much higher because these windows do not work properly.
Yet, they told me I wouldn't be able to hear what was going on outside. There is absolutely no betterment of my home.
Hanson Windows, in my opinion, are the worst.
Strike #7 - They advertise that they're open 24/7. Not at all true.
Disgusting
