Been with them for 7 years with not…

Been with them for 7 years with not even a single claim, and every year they increased the policy with approx $300 per year in the last 3 years, Also they advised that I have a $170 no claim bonus but when asked to be deducted from the premium they don't. This is money gram and will try to rip you off from one year to another. Go somewhere else where they appreciate loyalty and low maintenance customers.

HORRIBLE

FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING SLIGHTLY RISKY WORK OR RIDING A MOTORBIKE. YOU WILL BE UNFAIRLY TREATED BY THE LEGISLATION THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS CREATED. EVERYTHING IS DESIGNED AGAINST YOU SIGNIFICANTLY.

DONT DO ANY RISKY WORK IF YOU VALUE YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY.

IF YOUR JOB IS RISKY DONT BOTHER HAVING A FAMILY AS THIS WILL CAUSE THEM SIGNIFICANT DISTRESS IF INJURED.

Not interested in rewarding loyalty

Been with GIO for over ten years. I received my car renewal notice for next year and the cost had risen 38%, in spite of making no claims. They clearly have little regard for existing customers and are not interested in rewarding loyalty. I’ll certainly be looking at other insurance companies and have no doubt that I will make the switch.

Some good and some bad.

It is really hit and miss with the GIO approved repairers, I think it is better to choose your own if you know a trusted repairer. I have had either really good or really bad experiences with their approved repairers.
The phone system of choose this option or that goes on forever then you keep having to go through more options. They make you do all the work and if you ring them they say it is faster to go online.
On the phone you give details of what you want to do to one person then get transferred to another and have to repeat the process again, for me three times.
On the phone, I am calling from within Australia and should reasonably expect to speak to someone that I can understand, who speaks clearly.
I have been with GIO for 50 years and have 4 policies, but think they should have some loyal customer number that deals with long term customers, like Frequent Flyers have.

GIO are a disgrace to paying customers …

I own a windscreen replacement company and we have recently invoiced GIO for work carried out. They are refusing to pay us because the customer didn’t use their preferred supplier. The customer didn’t want to use their preferred supplier he wanted to use us. We are now chasing payment even though they have paid us directly before. All these big corporations are owned by Vanguard and Blackrock including the insurance companies, keeping the business and money in their monopoly. Small business doesn’t stand a chance. We will persue this through a small claims court GIO. It’s a disgrace to your customers that they can’t use who they wish to carry out repairs. You are not allowed to do it.

We have had Home and Contents insurance…

We have had Home and Contents insurance for over 40 years with GIO. Unfortunately, since Suncorp took over their premiums have skyrocketed. They no longer show good will to long standing customers. Our premium this year has increased by $629.00. I asked for a reduction and the only way for this to happen was to increase my excess and to lower the value of the house by $100.000. By doing this, the reduction would be a lousy $204.75. Insurance is due today. I will pay it but take advantage of the 10 day cooling off period to shop around for a better deal.

No resolution from GIO - just a justification for their price increases. Shareholders and profit come before long standing customers.

Terrible.. do not recommend to anyone

Terrible... no communication and screw you aroundWOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! You get what you pay for I geuss...
GIO has screwed me around since the day of my non at fault accident, NO communication at all, sent my car to manheim where it has sat for the past 4 weeks, they cancelled my Rego and deemed it a write off before even contacting me, I then drove to collect my belongings out of my car yet I wasn't allowed to go to MY car? I then make an appointment like i had to even though it says that no where, i drive up again sign paper work and get ID checked, get taken to my car for all my belongings to be missing... i escalated my complaint spoke to a guy from suncorp named Raj, and he was rude and unhelpful, 1 week later it waa found out the towing company waa holding my belongings even though no one notified anyone Raj blamed me and said i knew it was there (why would i waste 5 hours in total driving to Newcastle and back twice).
- Today is over 5 weeks later, Payout settlement still hasnt arrived and my complaint is deemed "complete" they offer no compensation dispite Raj AGREEING on a email they had terrible communication... go figure... They don't communicate at all, and seem so hopeless especially for a non at fault accident.
The other lady's car is already being repaired. I have tried to reach out to GIO and the complaint went through suncorp and Raj was rude and didn't seem to care ans basically shut me down. Now I have to try find a new insurance provider for my new car I'm picking up tomorrow after being with GIO since I was 16years old.

Watch out for this GIO scam when you insure your home or make a claim

I’ve had a terrible time with GIO insurance. My home was flooded. I told the claims rep about a drainage pipe under ground near the flooded area. GIO refused to investigate this. Denied the claim and told me to investigate it myself. I got a plumber to find the pipe which is the cause of the flood. GIO won’t pay for the investigation which has been really expensive. I have complained to the regulator. There is a policy limit of $2500 for investigation of your claim so GIO will deny the claim for some spurious reason, let you pay the costs to find the cause yourself then rely on the policy limit. Disgraceful.

HORRENDOUS TIME FRAME FOR REPAIR

We lodged our claim on the 11th December. We took to one person. Then as advised, GIO said on the 21st of January 2024 to take to another repairer.

We did not pay for car hire on our insurance and as such have really struggled for a vehicle for this period they have had our car since January 2024.

As of 7th May 2024 it is STILL with repairer and STILL not repaired.

It is a work ute. You can imagine the costs and inconvenience incurred to enable us to still work.

They take our money and this is the service we get. It should be ILLEGAL!

It's a no fault claim taking forever.

It's a not at fault claim for a car crash in March24. The other driver admitted to being at fault and their comprehensive insurance details were immediately provided. The GIO is taking forever to even look at it and the policy holder is left holding the phone when they're called - till they hang up. Poor unprofessional service - use someone else.

Needed to refund my ctp

Needed to refund my ctp since my car was written off. Gave me extra unnecessary hoops to jump through assumably so they did not have to refund my ctp. Person on the phone call line was sarcastic and rude.

Rip-off

57% premium increase on home and contents, non-negotiable. I have three policies with them, but they clearly aren't interested in my business (no claims for >3 years). I'm going elsewhere.
We're all being screwed. Search for Michael West article "Silent Bill Killer".

Not at fault claim, provided the other drivers details including them admitting to being at fault.....yet GIO is taking forever to even look at it. Atrocious

I am writing on behalf of my elderly…

I am writing on behalf of my elderly parents , my father is 87 & my mother is 85 . My mother has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal bowl cancer and is very sick 🥲 my parents house has had a missive hole in their roof that has gone straight into their main front room since February storms , they have suffered with the cold winter with this massive hole in the roof and many people have come to look at it with still nothing done as of today 23rd November 2022 , my parents have paid for house & contents Insureance all their lives with no claims & when they really need help no one has helped SHAME on you GIO I WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT !!!! GIO have told my parents they have to pay them more money $3000.00 to help repair the roof !!! & won’t start repairs until it’s paid over & above the the access , My father got an outside roofer to quote him and that was only $5000 , Shame on you for trying to steel money from our elderly !!!! NEVER TRUST GIO .everyone that reads this should leave this company as my poor parents are still waiting , very sad , that no one can miss a payment but you take months & months to help people that keep you operating!! Yes your clients that keep your company going you are screwing over !!!

MY CLAIM EXPERIENCE with FIONA ON 07 APRIL 21:
Hopeless & Incompetent staff member like FIONA CUMINE are the reason why I am force to leave GIO after 15 years.

WHAT I RECEIVED FROM FIONA SO FAR :
1. EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
2. LAZY, ARROGANT & TOTALLY USELESS
3. TIME CONSUMING CONVERSATION THROUGH EMAILS
4. NO BUSINESS & COST SAVING SENSE for GIO
5. ZERO VALUE RETURN FOR A EXPENSIVE POLICY
6. NO TIMELY RESOLUTION
7. CARE FACTOR IS MISSING

WHAT WE GAVE TO GIO :
$250,000 BUSINESS SO FAR :
We had been using GIO for our Cars, Home and content insurance for 15 years ..Close to $250,000 business we have given to GIO.

CONCLUSION:
All due to Lazy, Disgrace-full & incompetent GIO staff member like FIONA CUMINE. . I have decided to leave this BRAND.

ADVICE :
Dont waist your time money or energy with GIO Staff Members .. JUST LEAVE
