Good communication and quick responses, overall a stress free experience

Amazing service from Gilson Gray. I recently purchased my first property and Kirsty McNally offered extremely professional and outstanding service throughout the process. I had a very poor experience with Gilson Gray during my recent property purchase.

Communication was consistently reactive rather than proactive. I was usually left chasing for updates, and when responses did come, they were often vague and lacking detail. At times, weeks went by with no meaningful progress or explanation of what was happening.

More concerning were issues with accuracy and case handling. I was told enquiries had been raised with the seller’s solicitor when they had not actually been sent, and when they finally were, they included multiple errors that did not relate to the property (for example, the wrong build date and requests for non-existent features). This caused unnecessary delays and undermined my confidence in the process.

There was also a key issue around gifted equity versus gifted deposit that caused delays, which I was never informed about directly. I only found out through the seller. I received little to no advice or communication on this, despite its importance.

I raised a formal complaint and later followed up with further evidence, but did not receive any response to my second email.

Overall, the lack of communication, attention to detail, and ownership of the case caused significant stress and put the transaction at risk.

I read the reviews here beforehand, but I didn't acknowledge them as wrote them off as overly-disgruntled customers. Unfortunately this wasn't the case.

I would encourage others to shop around, take notice of poor reviews and trust your gut - if the service feels cold and disconnected in the first interaction, it's probably going to stay that way.

Very good experience from start to finish selling my property. Alana kept us informed at every stage and communicated all relevant and necessary information and answered any questions. From my side of things, I had all the initial and necessary questions that I would need to answer, from there things went smoothly and without any unnecessary delays. I was recommended to use Gilson Gray through my estate agent. Aliza was my conveyancer for selling my property and then buying a property a short time later. I was really impressed with how organised and on the ball Aliza was with everything. Unfortunately we experienced some delays in our sale which was out of our control however Aliza was always ready with everything that was needed and pushed the other solicitor firm to speed up.
When it came to buying our property this was a real easy process. I was kept informed by Aliza all the way through the process and although they have a online tracker you can use to view progress, Aliza would keep my informed and updated and did always respond really promptly with any questions I had by email and phone.

I am really happy with the service that Aliza and her team provided. I would highly recommend anyone to use this firm and in particular Aliza and her team.
