Terrible guy
Terrible guy. He pushed my cat sitter to do a service an overpriced job. He charged £58 for the visit and nothing sorted. It was pretty simple to solve it
You win some, you lose some….
You win some, you lose some. This was a loss. Do not use this company, just don’t. Nearly £300 for a leaky pipe…it still leaks. I’ve had another plumber/kitchen fitter look at the work done and he said that was not the work of a plumber. “George” outsources the work to third parties who are not up to scratch. 5 star google reviews are a smoke screen, and on this website you get the full picture. Not good.

charged me £1700 for a quick bath leak, when you ring this number "george the plumber" it takes you to a different person each time, they sub contract the work out it seems, goes back to a "Taher Shar" who actually carries out "5 day plumber courses" who pray on vulnerable people.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY SIGNIFICANTLY OVERCHARGE FOR THEIR WORK.

Communication good- plumber arrived on time. £48 call out (which is understandable). Quoted £800 for a shower light. We said was too expensive- so he charged an extra £20 for cancelling the job. This was for my elderly parents who just accepted this additional cost. When I tried to call to complain- the call was constantly‘cut off’. Appalling that companies such as this are allowed to operate. I just hope that future customers check this site before using this company.

Scam
Advertised as a google 5 star review local business!! Communication was ok and a plumber turned up on time. Then told me it would be £585 plus VAT to fix a leaking pipe in the shower. Really fully taking advantage of being in a stressful situation. Less than an hour's work. Awful experience. Worse still when I gave a low star honest review on google it was rejected so "George" your local friendly plumber will continue to rip people off unless people check Trust Pilot - and in emergency plumbing situations unfortunately few will - they look like a great company.
Do not use this company or a plumber called George! Scammer!
George quoted £687 + VAT to replace shower and leak under the bath together with replacing pipework. He was to check if there was anything else. If he found anything he was to get back to me to discuss any increase in price. His English was very poor and I believe we didn’t understand each other.
Invoice came and it was as quoted but no pipework was carried out. I believe I have been scammed. Do not use this company or a plumber called George!
Extremely poor service
Extremely poor service. Gentleman came to my house within an hour and said he could fix a shower leak for £710 (inclusive of call out fee- which in hindsight is far too expensive, especially when it only took him 1.5 hours and didn’t need parts) - but accepted it as I was in desperate need. I paid by card on his departure and asked for an invoice, which he agreed to send. The payment went to his personal name which I thought was weird, and didn’t get a proper invoice (just a payment receipt with his name only, with no reference to the company name). I’ve called over 10x since as well as sent an email, and have asked for a proper invoice of the work they did and inclusion of the company name and they keep promising to call back or send it, but they haven’t. Very dissatisfied. Not 100% sure it’s a legitimate company based on how poor correspondence has been, the number having changed 6+ times on google in the last 24 hours, and the fact they have 16 reviews on google but 73+ years experience. I thought I was helping a small company out but from what the worker told me, the company has over 200 employees… so not sure why it’s so hard to create a simple invoice.
Charged £700 for an hour and a half of…
Further update: 01/07/2026:
The company has agreed to refund me in full after I called another plumber and he said that, apart from a few tiles being removed and replaced, he couldn't see any evidence of work having been carried out by this company. I will update my review if they return my money.
Further updated 30/06/2026:
Problem not even fixed! Leak is back! Are you even plumbers???
Updated 30/06/2026:
After complaining and a lengthy WhatsApp exchange which included some veiled threats (??), this plumber agreed to refund £150. I have since found at least five other people who were charged exorbitant rates for an hour or so of work (i.e. £500/£600). After refunding £150 of a £730 + bill, the plumber told us to 'delete this review'. I will leave it here so other people can be aware of your quite frankly scam prices before hiring you. Be warned, it seems this person is paying for Google ads to be the top result so you phone them in an emergency. They promise fast service, but they're actually based nowhere near you (Swindon). So drive hours and then charge hundreds, demanding full payment on the spot. Dishonest, unprofessional, untrustworthy.

Original review 29/06/26: Charged £730+ for an hour and a half of work, demanding full payment from my partner on the spot. Messed us around all day, first saying they'd arrive at 3 pm, then 'by 5', finally showing up at 6.30 pm after multiple chase calls, all while I had a leaking pipe.
Absolutely horrible experience
Absolutely horrible experience, a woman on her own and two large your man who intimidated me into paying £309.60 for nothing. They took one handle off and cleaned it to put it back on the stopcock. Tried calling them and they said the will call back but nothing. It’s a scam and I will have them reported
Absolute scam of a company
Absolute scam of a company. Charged my MIL £680. She had a leak under the bath this guy charged a call out fee and an observation fee when here. Took advantage and used pressuring tactics. She come to use the bath the next day and to find the leak was still there. The guy wont answer his phone now and now she is out £680and the problem isnt even fixed.
George the Plumber
Called out George the Plumber who had 5* reviews to replace an outside tap. 2 guys turned up who could hardly speak English. They quoted £350. When I laughed and told them I had already turned down a quote for £200, they offered to do it for £250. When I said no they wanted to charge me a £48 call out fee. I relented and let them do the job for their rip off fee of £250. They really were not very competent but finally got the job done. They would not leave until I had paid by bank transfer and they had photographed the transfer confirmation screen. The receiving company for payment was UBR Plumbing Ltd. Watch out for these scam merchants.
A young plumber turned up
A young plumber turned up , had a look at the issue, I needed 2 ballcock and the leavers and a pipe from the overflow repairing.
At first he said £1000. , I just laughed then he said £600 I laughed, anyway got on to so called boss, told him he was having a laugh, told me someone would ring back, didn’t, so I did , and again and again eventually I agreed on 500.
Still over the top , but I admit he did a good job , asked to pay by bank transfer, no I said credit card only.
In fairness the plumber was a nice person it’s a shame he works for Del and co
I know I have overpaid, I have learnt from this but he did a good job,
I hope there is no further issues otherwise I will contact the credit card company.
Scam company
Scam company. Should not be in business. We called for a plumber on Sunday and asked if there would be an additional charge for the weekend. We were assured that the only difference would be the call-out fee of £58 versus the regular £48 fee. The plumber who came quoted us £420 to change a basin tap (market price is c.£150), and mentioned that they charge an additional fee for the weekend - despite us being told over the phone that this wasn't the case. These guys are true rip-off merchants - check out the TrustPilot reviews as all of these 5 star reviews are fake. Avoid.

£190 per hour! Slow work - excessive charging. Pop up waste replacement cost £624.
Shocking overcharging and intimidating service – avoid
Do not phone this company. Do not employ this company.
My partner and I initially contacted George the Plumber and were met with someone who seemed disgruntled that we had even phoned. Despite this, they promised a same-day visit by 5pm for a £49 call-out fee, which sounded reassuring at the time. Unfortunately, that was the start of a three-month nightmare, trying to get some compensation, to no avail.
“George the Plumber” doesn’t actually carry out the work themselves. Instead, they outsource jobs to another company (Emergency Plumbing Masters) who are even worse. What followed was completely unacceptable. We were charged £360 just for an “investigation and diagnosis,” of which Emergency Plumbing Masters claims they informed us of prior to work commencing, this is categorically untrue as my partner and I were only looking to send approximately £250. It wasn't until later on in this saga that we found out the "investigation & diagnosis" phase has a set price of £360, no matter how involved the labour was. Emergency Plumbing Masters claims they have phone recordings of this call were my partner and I agreed to the cost, which we have asked multiple times to provide those recordings and they have failed to do so.
Emergency Plumbing Masters pulled up carpets and floorboards and even cut a hole into the wall, something that could have been avoided entirely if basic checks had been done first. He then claimed the issue was simply due to eroded silicone in the shower and charged us £320 for three bottles. He only applied silicone the shower tray leaving us perplexed at the use of three bottles and at a mark-up of 500%. A second workman (of whom we employed to fix the poor workmanship) confirmed the amount used would barely equate to half a bottle. The second workman also stated that any experienced plumber would have taken one look at our grouting and attributed it to being the cause of the issue.
When the job was “complete,” he turned the final bill into a guessing game, encouraging my partner to estimate the final charge. When he revealed the total, it came to a shocking £901.24, almost three times what we were expecting to pay.
At that point, we were in complete disbelief. Emergency Plumbing Masters then refused to leave our property unless we paid claiming he could not be assigned a new job until payment for this one was complete. This is predatory business practice as the terms and conditions stating no refunds are ATTACHED to the invoice, effectively forcing us to accept the invoice and its terms under pressure.
This was an extremely stressful, overpriced, and unprofessional experience. I strongly urge others to avoid this company entirely.
I would give this business zero stars…
I would give this business zero stars if I could. Last year, a plumber named Farhan turned up and charged my partner a ridiculous £250 just to replace a radiator lockshield valve—a basic job that took him an entire two hours due to sheer incompetence.
Here is a breakdown of the "service" Farhan provided:
Complete lack of basic plumbing knowledge: He spent ages hunting for the main water isolator to drain the system. His excuse? He couldn't find it because it was "covered by a bucket" under the sink.
Doesn't know how to identify a heating system: Farhan actually asked me if we had a water tank in the loft. This is despite the fact that we have a standard combi boiler with a massive, highly visible pressure gauge right on the front of it.
He clearly didn't know what he was doing, dragged the time out to justify an outrageous fee, and lacked basic troubleshooting skills. Save your money, your time, and your sanity—do not let Farhan anywhere near your plumbing.
