Decided to rent a Tesla for the week over Christmas so that I could let my 92-year-old father (ex-RN fighter pilot) experience the excitement of the latest generation of EVs. After getting over the disappointment of not being able to hire the Model X, (someone had crashed it) we thoroughly enjoyed the Model Y.

Realising that I could have booked the car and collected it in Devon, it would have reduced the need to travel all the way to Strood... However, I would have missed out on all that extra driving excitement.

Della, the Hiring Manager was exceptional when dealing with the process of documentation, while the Logistics Manager was a fountain of knowledge when returning the car, being able to provide a lot of insight into the other EVs on offer.

The whole experience was a pleasant one and I look forward to trying out a number of the different models in 2023.

After a slightly worrying bank transfer of a £2000 deposit, the rental was absolutely “ friction free” and friendly. Staff were approachable and helpful, the car (EV6) was immaculately clean and well prepared. We have rented twice from evision and will definitely use them again

I wanted to hire an electric vehicle and EVision had good recommendations on Trustpilot.

However, for me, their business model was just unacceptable.

1) You had to submit by email ID documentation which would have been sufficient to open a bank account, and they were unwilling to see this documentation in hard copy at the time of collection of the vehicle. I think this is a big cyber security risk.
2) You had to pay a deposit of £2,000 upfront - which would be taken from your credit card, and repaid only after 7-10 days following the return of the car.
I would have effectively been loaning EVision £2000 for nearly two weeks.

The customer service may be fine, but these two issues were simply unacceptable to me.

This is the second time renting from Evision.
The total experience has been excellent from the time i first booked right to handing over the car back to them.
They even treated me very fairly when they couldnt provide me with the car i booked. Great company, great staff!

Lovely people to deal with. Huge and varied EV fleet from the Zoe to the Taycan and pretty much everything in between. Vehicles are beautifully looked after and pristine on collection. Have rented many times before and will continue to do so. Thanks all.

By a million miles, EVision are the easiest, friendliest and most efficient hire company to deal with.

I would recommend them to anyone.

Can't fault the service and experience. Paying the deposit up front by bank transfer was unusual, and was queried by my bank, but this was certainly a company looking to give me a positive experience and I thought gave us a very good value offer on the hire of a BMW i3.

This car rental company is second to none. They have amazing immediate responses to queries ie great communication and their prices are very reasonable. They also allow you to use your own insurance which keeps costs down. Their cars are new. Only suggestion would be to provide unlimited mileage tariffs.
I rented an SUV 7 seater Mercedes EQB to drive to the south of France and unfortunately the range isn’t enough so I had to recharge every 90 minutes which prolongs the journey unnecessarily. AC and motorway driving greatly reduce the range and it’s quite stressful when the charge is low. I would definitely recommend breakdown insurance as an extra. The Ionity fast chargers aren’t cheap either and the electric charging worked out at twice the cost of a diesel car with limited access and further time wastage due to the few chargers and queuing. To charge one has to register with several different providers of electric charging and the Chargemaster card is a must as well as the Zapmap app as the Mercedes in car information re chargers isn’t updated as to whether the chargers is out of order which can be critical if the battery charge is low. If one is to drive an electric car on long distances in France the only car that has a sufficient range currently is a Tesla plus the charging network is very well supported with lots of Tesla dedicated chargers all over France. This could be added to EVisions’ website information although the RAC has great advice about driving in Europe.
EVision however is a great company to rent from and I’d definitely reuse them.

Great communication, Christian was very professional and a pleasure to deal with, when there was a fault with the car it was sorted promptly with no disturbance to our trip.

I am from Qatar and had very positive and excellent experience. Highly recommended car hire service. The best on twin. They provided excellent support before, during and after the hire. Very good prices as well.

Simply excellent service, very knowledgeable friendly staff and so easy to deal with from pre booking to returning the vehicle. The vehicle was great too!
They were extremely flexible with my travel plans dropping off and collecting at LHR.

I had no trouble or issues either with booking or during the rental, but I’m confident if I had they would have fixed them quickly and made sure everything was resolved.
Will definitely use them again on my next trip back to the UK.

eVision put on a random PCN charge. The charge was for parking in my apartment which I had already pre-arranged so it should be invalid. I asked for details regarding the charge to clear up with my property but they refused to do so. The charge was £24 but in the process there was an additional "Administration fee" of £60, leading to an avoidable deduction of £84 from my deposit. When I approached another representative regarding this issue, she said she "was unaware of any PCN charges" and that she would look into it. I haven't heard from them since.

Desperately needs transparency in the charges. No explanation whatsoever was given regarding the fees. More to be desired from communication. Different members of staff have differing information. All my emails with serious questions were left unanswered, email replies only consists of a corteous response to show that they did not ignore me.

Would not recommend.

Absolutely fantastic service from the whole team at evision! Della was quick to respond, and provided me with a quote for a Kia Niro. I came down to collect the vehicle and the hand over was very in depth and the team were knowledgable!
I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to hire an electric vehicle!

The car was great, clean and communication was very good. We had no problem finding superchargers and the return was easy. Only suggestion is to provide the telephone numbers for the individuals that are dropping off the vehicle so customers can communicate directly with them… it all worked out ok but this would have beeen easier since we came in on a weekend.

Rented an i3 for 2-days and had a good rental experience.
The vehicle was great: clean(*), well maintained and good condition - it served me really well and the range was what I needed.
Some oddities compared to other car hires: the car does *not* come with a base insurance as you might get with Avis, Europcar, etc. - you either pay for eVision's insurance (£30/day!) or somehow you bring your own insurance (not just the "car hire excess" insurance - a fully comprehensive insurance) which given most domestic policies exclude hire cars, is very difficult to find. Hence, the total hire price is ~33% higher than the car hire amount. Their insurance also has a £2000 excess so you have to pay that up front as well and they refund it after.
Also to be added to the cost is the taxi to get you to and from Diggerland Durham as their location is a bit out of town.
The people I dealt with when booking were friendly, helpful and professional so would happily book with them again.
(*) The only thing that wasn't super clean was the inside of the windscreen - but in my experience this is a common issue when hiring a car.
