Think carefully before using this company.

I've been saving up for years to build an extension on my house, so that my elderly and frail mother can move in with me. The man from this company came round to give me a quote. We had a friendly chat over a plate of corn muffins and discussed my needs. He seemed very polite and professional at first, and his price was very competitive. Almost too good to be true, maybe...

Anyway, I paid the man what little I had so he could get started. Alarm bells started to ring straight away when he showed up late on the first day, stinking of cigars and cheap liquor. He did ask after my mum though, which was nice.

Over the next few weeks, he showed up sporadically to lay some very shoddy foundations and leer drunkenly at my children. I wasn't happy with the work, which looked very bad and complained. I never heard back from him. The work was never completed and he stole my money.

To make matters worse, I later found out he'd ran off with my mother. Though I suppose that means I don't need the extension after all.

I see him every now and then at family weddings, and he always makes a show of himself. I try to talk to him about a refund, but understandably he doesn't like to discuss business at family gatherings.

Two stars, as he does apparently treat my mother well.

Never ever ever use this company. Unfortunately Trustpilot will not let me share my legitimate experience with the individual trading as Elegant Construction. Make sure you have done your own research online and social media. The individual's first name is mentioned in some of the posts below. Do not become another victim. See the detailed Trustpilot business transparency report for this company to make your own mind up. Please do not make the same mistake and fall for the charm, promises, competitive quote and flashy website. Always check company addresses are genuine or visit before handing over any money. Addresses on contracts, websites, Companies House are not proofs. Neither are a couple of dated positive reviews from strangers on review sites. Stay alert. See this company's replies to negative reviews to be better informed of what you will be dealing with. You may be the next Dan Walker!

Avoid this so called company at all costs. We have had a nightmare experience and using them was the biggest mistake we have made to date. The so called owner John us full of charm but as soon as you sign and pay the deposit that all changes.
From day one, the project lacked any supervision to ensuring our architect plans were carried out. There was constant delays in materials and the workman were leaving early every day. From the day of signing the contract, we requested a work schedule so we could track the progress of the work against what we were paying. This took several weeks and a lot of chasing before we eventually got it. It got to a point where we were very unhappy with how the project was going, so we advised the company we were going to with hold any further payments until the work was caught up. We also requested a meeting with the owner to which he rudely refused. We also became aware via the internet that the con man had a track record for fraud and deception, which made us even more nervous about paying any more money. He became very aggressive and shut the project down in pulling the workman off site. We hired a surveyor to assess the work and found nemerous fundamental defects. Eventually we had to hire another contractor to complete the project as elegant Construction'refused to come back in site until we paid more money. Much of the walls had to be knocked down due to the poor condition. Elegant construction do not have competent builders as they do not pay them properly. We know this first hand.

We are currently in dispute with them. Please save yourself a lot of agro and money and stay well away from him.

I employed John and his team to undertake building works to my family home. As part of this John and his team had drawn up all the plans etc. for my build. Unfortunately due to COVID19 our plans had to change due to job losses within the family. As a result the project was put on hold. Elegant returned parts of my deposit minus the cost of the drawings and planing. John appeared to be very busy and hard to contact. On one occasion John had a family bereavement but he would always called back.

NEVER EVER use this company

This company is complete fraud. They take initial deposit and then would treat you very badly. In my case, they took initial money, send an architect after few days and then total negligence. I kept calling him for several days but no response. Once i totally fed up, i sent him message of not continuing with the project. Then he called me. Rather than apologetic, he was in full anger, talked rudely and asked me not to call him again. He said he would call back when there is any update. Since then, I did not receive any call from him. I have raised dispute with bank to get my money back.
I have never written any feedback online before this but this guy has made me to do this. I just don't want anyone else go through the same mental stress.

NEVER EVER use this company

I asked for a quote to move a stud wall and rebuild in a new location. A personal visit was made to check requirements, a fast and very reasonable quote was sent. The work commenced within a couple of days and was finished in only a week from my first enquiry. Work is to a good standard and the team were very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to get it all done well. The price was fixed with no hidden costs. I'm over the moon with my new room and only needed to clean up a little bit to make everything look great. I would recommend Elegant Construction and I would use them again.

I would highly recommend Elegant Construction. They have done an amazing job at a very reasonable price. John came to see us twice before the job started. The team are very professional and most importantly they did exactly what I was looking for. We have already had the neighbours commenting on how good the canopy looks now.
