I have never felt so uncomfortable and rushed having a meal. We took my parents out for a meal prior to a cancer operation and as Ego was so busy, as soon as we sat down, we were told to order quickly as the kitchen was extremely busy and there was at all east a 40 minute wait on food. We were ten reminder, even if the food was late coming out, we will still only have the table for 1.5 hours. We were asked to leave our table at exactly 1.5 hours later and I was still eating! My meal was boxed up and we were asked to leave our table. Meg was extremely rude and argumentative. I certainly will not be returning to our local restaurant. Very disappointed and sad.

Very long wait (only 3 tables in there) food was overcooked/reheated and tasteless and overpriced for the quality.

It was lovely ! The food was great and staff brilliant , the decor is so tasteful

went to ego on tuesday evening paid 35pounds for a christmas meal starter was a poor version of a prawn cocktail turkey meal had 2 portions of turkey 4 half small potatoes no roast potatoes no parsnips 2 slivers of carrots teaspoon of cranberry teaspoon of bread sauce tablespoon of gravy no pigs in blankets but you could have 2 for 5 pounds had a minnie xmas pudding totally disgusting food for a costly 35 pounds bah humbug anyone thinking of going for a christmas meal you would have a better experience down your local cafe

Gift Vouchers. Recently bought a gift voucher as a gift. By chance while checking my bank I found a £1.20 cash advance fee with no info attached to it. On speaking with my bank they inform me it’s related to the Ego voucher along with a further £0.26 in interest. They refunded this and did say that Ego don’t receive this fee it goes to the bank but it’s as a result of how Mitchells and Butlers have set themselves up. As I have had it explained, it would appear, it’s the transaction fee or part of it being passed to the customer. I’ve looked at their website T&Cs I don’t see any mention of the fee and I’ve spoken with their call centre who appear to have a set script for this to read from,as they tell me I’m not the first to question this, the main thrust of it being “it’s the bank not us”. The point being, whoever it is, it’s my money being taken, in my view, without me being informed.
It’s the principle rather than the amount but be aware. I would say in closing we are, or were, frequent customers of EGO at Wyke and have always found the food, staff and general experience to be good and the one star is for the vouchers. I’d rate them as four stars.

My family and I - six of us, went to The Star at Kingsclere for Sunday lunch. The place has been renovated and is lovely. The decor is welcoming and It was very Christmasy. Staff were excellent and very helpful as one of our group has allergies and there were also two children. All the lunches were excellent but particularly the lamb off the festive menu which my son and I had - It was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back and will be telling my friends

Went 13th December . Service soooo slow and portions from Christmas 3 course meal so small. Turkey so dry and was told they would bring me another turkey lunch but it would be the same as turkey was a dry meat. Opted for fish instead which came so long after all our party had finished their food. We have always loved Ego but will not be going back.

A particular member of staff, I found out she was called Charlie could see I wasn't very well whilst out with my partner this evening, she came over with some lemon and hot water for me to try and asked if there was anything else she could do. She went above and beyond for me without me even asking.
All staff go out of their way to help.
I would recommend to anyone.

This is a honest review we don’t normally bother but for a new restaurant NOT GOOD
We arrived on Friday night for my daughter birthday. The whole building was absolutely freezing,the radiators were on but even the staff were cold
Service on welcome is slow.
The food very expensive for what you get all fancy delivery of my mixed kebab mostly chorizo . The smallest pieces of meat we have ever seen, I honestly have had bigger starters. And that was £25 with a ridiculous salad. The bread on nam was so dry I didn’t eat it. 2 x. paella again not much more than a starter .

We booked a table for 5 for a W.I. Lunch at The Star Inn near Tadley .Hants
What a delightful place . Fresh and modern . Attentive and Friendly staff.
Great prices .Food a 5 Star quality and presentation professional.
We will be back

Visited the EGO restaurant in Sully the Vale of Glamorgan on Saturday 5/11/2025 for an 80th birthday meal. The food and service was excellent. A gentleman by the name of James looked after us all afternoon a big thank you goes to him.

I wrote a review on other websites only to find its disappeared. Fish cake tasting and texture of roe. Telling customers they are made by chefs on site. I doubt that very much. I will find out where they are buying them in from. I know they used to have a kitchen that used to prepare and cook food for all sites. All ego do now is microwave food up. I don't think that's done anymore its just bought in rock bottom goods.

Our table was in a lovely private room,
roasts not served hot, disappointed

When we came to pay the obviously untrained bar staff had no idea what they were doing to split bill for us to pay..
It was briefly explained before woman walked off..
then he disappeared for about 20 mins over a £4 discrepancy .. again unsure what he was doing
I would have paid it rather than be kept waiting

All in all a stressful shambles.

Just ate at your new Gravesend restaurant and I would like to say the staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. Well done to all the staff and good luck to your future.

This Company needs to do something about their main website design as it does not work properly. Having enjoyed a very nice meal at Ego Kingsclere with excellent service I tried to sign up to the Ego Club but the down button would not work. I wanted to complain about this but you can only complain about a specific restaurant. You are letting your restaurants down by assuming that all complaints will relate to your restaurants and no box for other complaints.

We were excited to see our rundown local pub transformed into a Mediterranean restaurant and wanted to support them in their first week. While we expected some teething issues, the wait was long and the orders a little confused. Unfortunately, the Moroccan lamb was disappointing — served cold, with only a few pieces of meat and a lot of undercooked chunky vegetables.

I wasn’t planning to leave a negative review as I believe in supporting new businesses, but I later became unwell with severe diarrhoea in the middle of the night. I don’t think I d ever want to go back

Ego at Blackburn
Had a great night celebrating my husbands birthday.
We had a warm welcome from the manager and once seated our very friendly and professional waitress took our order for drinks.
The food came out quite quickly and I ordered the lamb which was lovely and my husband had pork which he thoroughly enjoyed.
We also had desserts and a very nice touch was my husband’s plate had happy birthday written on it which was a lovely end to the night.
Overall the staff were top notch.

my husband had a really bad steak he asked for medium to well done, it was very very well done the plate had one small mushroom and nothing else no tomatoes or peas he asked "where is the tomato" they just said we've got none. my spaghetti carbonara was just creamy there was no cheese or cheese flavour and the pieces of bacon were so small and tough its just as well i could just swallow them i could only eat half of the dish we just paid the bill and went. this is a restaurant we will advise all people we know never to use this place it was disgraceful. it was the CHESHIRE OAKS branch

New Ego at Kingsclere
Just been refurbed from the old name of The Star Inn, Mostly lick of paint and nice new furniture at the public end.
Staff were very nice inc senior manager who straightened out some confusion with the bill in our favour.
Food was fresh and nicely cooked
Drinks were nice
My review is
5 Star for waiting and kitchen staff
3 Star for mid management
4 Star for food and drink
4 star for furnishings and ambiance
Would have given 4 stars overall except for issue with the bill
Will use again

The experience was okay overall. The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Some dishes lacked seasoning or felt a bit rushed. The service was friendly, though a bit slow at times. I might give it another try in the future.
