The company I work for rents out flats to students.

Earlier this week, without my knowing my Mum booked Dyno Rod through British Gas, regarding a plumbing issue at one of the flats. The reason I know is because she gave them my number and the text message came through.

I had a laugh about this. I rang up my Mum who told me of this.

Anyway the job was booked on Thursday 31st July between 8 am and 1 pm. Like clockwork a plumber whose name I cannot remember phoned me at 8 am saying he was a few minutes away. That was no problem. I made my way down to the property and let him in. He did his very thorough checks and said it was a drainage problem not a plumbing problem. He said he'd have to refer it to drainage. Again not a problem.

He said that drainage would be in touch either later on that day or the following day to get it done. Again that wasn't a problem.

The following day on Friday 1st August around 9 am i got a phone call from James Merry saying he was a few minutes away and he just had to pick up a part. So I made my way down. I was literally 1 minute away. I turned up at the property and I saw a dyno rod van drive past and I thought I'd missed him! I gave him a call and as I did I saw a young man come from the BA Jacksons and pick up his phone. I shouted out "Are you from Dyno Rod?" I just got them mixed up! It was the guy for our job.

We went into the property. Now the original plumber clearly gave his gentleman named James Merry all the details because he'd gone into BA Jacksons and got the part he needed. With a minimum of fuss and quicker than you can say Robert is your mothers brother (Bob's your uncle) he sorted it. Not only did he sort it, he tested it to make sure everything worked properly.

Again a magnificent job by Dyno Rod.

So the usual questions.
Would I use them again? All day every day.
Are they worth the money? I'd say good value at 10 times the price.
Would I recommend them to anyone else? My advice to you is if you have a plumbing issue they'd be the first people I'd ring. I'd go one step further. I'd phone up British Gas and get on their Homecare 400 program which includes Dyno Rod cover. That way it's all done for a fixed price and trust me that saves a lot of stress.

Like ALL of Dyno Rod's engineers James Merry did a first class job with a Goldeneye for detail. He is truly the man with the golden gun. Once again I was left in my own Quantum of Solace and was shaken but not stirred.

Home emergency, leaking shower (not sealant). Came and took off the shower surround to look underneath. Couldn't find leak. Said he will have to 'carry the job over' and will come back to make hole in ceiling to investigate. Phoned them myself next day. They said job closed, leak found and fixed. Absolute lie. After escalating they agreed to come out again to look. Said it was shower itself and not covered. Left a complete mess, not replacing the shower surround etc. Absolute disgrace.

Arrived when he said he would, explained the problem, cost and options. Very friendly, straightforward service. All the basics you want but rarely get these days. Would recommend and use again.

Jack, the engineer, arrived on time, having phoned before he came to the house. He was friendly, professional, polite and fixed the issue efficiently.

Quick fix and accommodated our time when somebody was able to be at home .

Whole process from quote to getting the new shower installed was smooth and efficient from start to finish. Work was completed neatly and made sure everything was working properly and we were happy before leaving.

Punctuality workmanship they said it would take a Day and a Day it took

Dyno tradesmen seem competent, but their planning and organisation is chaotic and frankly disgraceful.
From an initial emergency visit to a leak on a shower to a resolution it has taken a month, 4 visits, numerous frustrating phone calls and we even purchased the mixer valve ourselves to speed up the process.
Due to poor scheduling the wrong operative was sent due to the shower issue being logged as a replacement tap and even after requesting the correct operative to carry out the works and working around his diary, the wrong operative turned up late on a Friday and was unable to carry out the works.
Dyno are the company who British Gas subcontract plumbing works to.

Engineer arrived on time after a pre visit phone call, as per the booking. He was courteous, very pleasant, effective and efficient, completing the work within the projected timescale.
The work was cleanly done and no mess was left.
He gave a full explanation of what he had done and how the valve worked which he tested before leaving.
