Absolutely and unequivocally unacceptable! I was charged for coverage that I declined after verifying my coverage with Statefarm, my insurance carrier. This action is absolutely unacceptable, and there should be no reason for such an error to have occurred. I am under the impression that this is common practice for DRIVO Rent-A-Car, and this experience has left a horrible first impression!

Terrible hire firm.
The office is a van parked at the carpark, behind the regular hire buildings. Customers cueing sitting on the kerb. One person turns up to off hire the car and they just give the keys straight to the new one waiting, without any cleaning.
It goes pretty swift. We didn't wait too long. Ramadan it's a quiet period. I wonder what's it like during hot, busy days..
First car didn't have the drivers sun visor, radio didn't work and aircon sounded like a loud hoover. I asked for something else and they gave me a "decent" replacement, but still not road legal. No threads on tyres, dirty inside out and covered in bumps and scratches. I had to change a wheel eventually after a week. The tyre went flat. Luckily the spare was ok. After I offhired the car, they charged me £150 for the flat in the boot. Also the fella tried to blame me for a scratch. Luckily I had a good video. Don't get their insurance. It's not an insurance, but they don't explain you that. Check the car and video it before and after hire. Carefull with this firm.

I WAS CHARGED A CLEANING FEE THAT I FEEL WAS UNFAIRLY IMPOSED. UPON PICKING UP THE CAR, THEY COULD NOT FIND IT AND HAD ME SIT IN A TRAILER WHILE THEY LOOKED FOR IT. EVENTUALLY A GUY CAME IN, TOLD ME WHICH CAR WAS MINE AND WHEN I ASKED TO DO THE PRE-INSPECTION, WAS TOLD HE HAD ALREADY DONE IT AND I WAS GOOD TO GO. I HAD THE 'DAMAGE WAIVER' INCLUDED SO I DID NOT WORRY. UPON THE RETURN OF THE CAR, I BROUGHT IT TO THE LOT I WAS TOLD 3 HRS BEFORE IT WAS DUE AND WAS TOLD AFTER HANDING THE KEYS THAT THEY WOULD CHECK THE CAR LATER AND SAID I CAN LEAVE. SOME TIME AFTER I NOTICED I WAS BEING CHARGED A CLEANING FEE BY THEM AND ERUPTED BECAUSE BEING THE ONLY PERSON IN THE CAR THE WHOLE TIME, I ASSUMED THEY WERE CHARGING ME FOR WHATEVER DIRT MIGHT HAVE BEEN WHERE YOUR FEET ARE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THEM TO COMPLAIN GETTING NOWHERE, AT WHICH TIME I DISPUTED THE CHARGE WITH MY CREDIT CARD. RECENTLY I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT THE CHARGE WAS FOUND TO BE VALID BECAUSE I NOW FIND OUT THEY ARE CLAIMING THERE WERE PET HAIRS ON TWO SEATS AND INCLUDED PICTURES THAT WERE PRACTICALLY ALL BLACK, SHOWING NOTHING OF WHAT THEY ARE CLAIMING. THEY DO NOT SHOW BEFORE & AFTER PICTURES, NOR DO THEY SHOW CLEAR PICTURES. I FEEL THEY ARE UNSCRUPULOUS BECAUSE THEY NEVER HAD ME INSPECTING THE CAR EITHER TIMES WITH THEM AND HAVING RETURNED THE CAR 3 HRS EARLIER THAN I NEEDED TO, I COULD HAVE KEPT THE CAR AND CLEAN OUT WHATEVER THEY CLAIM TO HAVE SEEN, HAD THEY NOT SENT ME AWAY WITHOUT DOING THE INSPECTION. UPON THE PICK-UP, I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS ACROSS THE STREET IN THEIR ADJACENT LOT, ONLY TO BE TOLD BY THE EMPLOYEES IN THAT LOT THAT THE CAR WAS IN THE LOT I JUST CAME FROM. THEY TOOK THE KEYS FROM ME AND HAD ME SIT IN A TRAILER WHILE THEY HUNTED DOWN THE CAR. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEES WHO ARE PROBABLY PAID A COMMISSION FOR WHATEVER EXTRA UNFAIR CHARGES THEY CAN ADD TO THE CUSTOMERS' BILLS.
I would strongly caution anyone considering Drivo Car Rental.
I had a confirmed and prepaid reservation secured with my Business Platinum American Express card. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was denied the rental because the representative claimed they were unable to run my credit report.
I maintain a security freeze on my credit for identity protection. When informed this was the issue, I immediately lifted the freeze to allow the inquiry. Despite taking immediate action to resolve the matter, I was still denied the rental.
This was a prepaid reservation secured with a major business credit card. Denying a paid customer at the counter after they attempt to comply and resolve the issue demonstrates poor policy transparency and unacceptable customer service.
If Drivo requires a successful credit inquiry even for prepaid rentals secured with major credit cards, that requirement should be clearly disclosed before payment is accepted. Leaving customers stranded at the counter is not an acceptable business practice.
Due to this experience and the disruption it caused to my travel plans, I will not be using Drivo again. I recommend others carefully review their policies before booking.

Drivo is disorganized and their customer service is terrible. My husband rented a car from them and opted out of their insurance because we have AAA (we're from California). Drivo has a computer system that you have to login to get your insurance accepted. The system didn't work. He tried it numerous times. The manager on duty (a guy named Masrafy) said my husband had to pay for their insurance, but could get reimbursed when the car was returned. The idea that was that when I was with him, I might try and (with the right credentials) we could get it to work. We returned the car on a Sunday morning and I tried multiple times to log in on the insurance system (with the correct credentials) and it didn't work. At 9am ET (6am PT) I couldn't get anyone from AAA on the phone to make it right. The manager on duty that morning (Desmond) claimed he couldn't help us. That the policy of Drivo was NOT to reimburse people when the car is being returned - that we couldn't have heard that from the other manager. He was rude and walked away from us. He said the only recourse was to call Drivo customer service during the week. We did that. They were not helpful. We're out $239 for their insurance which we could not get back.
This worst driving company they are some thief, wen I drove out the lot the tire pressure light was on I think that wasn't going to be my problem these people take my 200 deposit I won't recommend I sorry I listen to my wife and rent from them never again.
It is far from the Airport. When you get to their location to pick vehicle, they hold you in long lines, asking customers to verify Auto insurance when you refuse to buy their recommended Insurance. I forgot some items in the car and called two days after my trip, and it took them two weeks to respond. I called them five times, and I was given a run around and they never gave me back my items.( Two black Hot spots in a box) I will never use this company. They don't have a pre-paid Toll charge, so they will charge you every day which is very expensive.
We waited 45 minutes at the airport for them to pick us up then when we got there, they didn’t accept my Travel insurance rental coverage They didn’t accept my credit card insurance and they charge me $80 a day for Car Rental, which is almost twice the price I paid for car rental itself then they didn’t have the SUV that I wanted

Your hours are inconvenient and you cost me 2 extra hotel nights on my stay because of them. I had already paid but my flights arrived and departed during hours you weren't open. Thanks. Also, when I arrived just after you closed, your attendant in the parking lot was so rude. Because of your hours, I almost had to sleep in a car. I'll never use your company again. Fix yourselves or just close down and do everyone who is unlucky enough to think you are legit a favor.
SCAM! they ask if you want insurance and you say no then they say ok just sign here that you dont want it. one week later they took my security deposit for insurance and when i called to say i told him no insurance costumer service said you signed the agreement for it we wont return your money. and i read online that they do that with a lot of people.
I rented the car for a 2 days. The car had an odor already in it, because of my time frame i had to work with to meet my client i by passed it. Took the car back for return 12/16/25. They charged me $200 buck for cleaning saying that their was smoke odor. I don't smoke which i also submitted by doctors report that I suffer with Asthma. They then said that the car was excessively dirty which is wasn't. The car had snowy regular weather conditions light dirt from snow on it. I find this to be super ridiculous when my rental cost was $104 and the cleaning fee for weather conditions dirt from snowy days $200. So crazy

This was my 1st experiense in renting a car, and it was amazing! The best service was provided by their customer care team, they were very supportive and helpful, they made my trip.
I rented a car in New York from August 9th to August 15th. At first, they tried to sell me insurance for $450 for 6 days, then extended it for $250. When I returned the car with a full tank and everything was fine, they promised to return the deposit within 2 weeks. I flew to Uzbekistan and 5 weeks passed. They wrote that they withdrew $137 from my deposit for New York toll roads, but they did not return the remaining $63 to my account. I wrote to them 10 times, called, and they stopped answering me. They did not return my money. Therefore, I do not recommend anyone rent a car there. From the very beginning, they will push expensive insurance on you... remember.

Awful experience, start to finish. On arrival, it took me over 90 minutes from airport terminal to leaving the parking lot.
After a week long trip, there was a snowstorm and I had to push my flight back 24 hours. I asked the cost of extending my reservation by one day, and I was quoted *800 DOLLARS*.
A reasonable fee is understandable, but not that. They were clearly trying to take advantage of a difficult situation.
