Daniel at Glasgow Airport went above and beyond to help me! At what was a very stressful time for me he was understanding and kind.
Easy pickup, very relaxed checkout, clear instructions and no hassle. Had a bus to pick up and take back to the airport that ran like clockwork. Would use again in Glasgow!
We now regularly use Drivalia when renting cars from Glasgow Airport. Prices are much cheaper than the on-site companies, cars are absolutely great as are the staff and the free shuttle bus transfer i... Mehr ansehen

Less than one star if we could! Total lack of cooperation/support after leaving us in the lurch without an appropriate vehicle with less than one day's notice. Following the agent's advice, we used a smaller car for less than one day while searching for the vehicle we needed for our large family. Then after returning home, they refused to issue a pro-rated refund for the 6 unused days. Six months later and still no satisfaction. Case is now closed by their customer "service" agents. Have never had such a dissatisfying experience renting a car.

Drivalia continues its policy of ignoring complaints and being hard to reach
Refer my earlier correspondence on October 21 referencing a complaint from a hire on July 23 where fault has been admitted by Drivalia ( yes we did rent you a car without an oil cap being fitted) compensation was offered and accepted and nothing has been heard from them since ! Do not trust them the prices look great but the heartache and inconvenience goes on for ever ,because they don’t answer phones or emails nor do they compensate when they say that they will

Overall the process ie check in and check out was relatively simple. Price of a van compared to Arnold Clark or Enterprise is a bargain.
Was a bit surprised to say the least that the medium van which we specifically booked, was extended by the customer before us so we were given a long wheel base version.
I was then informed that in addition to needing fuel, it desperately required AdBlue. No problem on the fuel side, guess you expect that but not 2 top ups.
MPG on this diesel was absolutely awful. That said Drivalia are a valid and legit player for car and van hire in Glasgow.

Following a long and arduous journey from Australia to visit father who is very ill with cancer, arrived at Drivalia, Glasgow Airport to be met with completely unacceptable and inappropriate actions. Having been held up at customs, a situation out with my control, arrived to be told that the car I had hired and paid for (via booking.com), was no longer available and would be required to pay a further £350 for another vehicle. On top of that required a £2,000 excess to be placed on my credit card, which would restrict funds (to £500, given my requirement to assist parents financially during my visit would have been inappropriate. I was forced to leave, hire another vehicle from a different company. Following discussions with the manager, Mr. Peter Kerr, he accepted that it was handled very badly, and assured me it would be refunded within 3/5days. Having chased him repeatedly we were advised that he had no intention of pursuing and failed to honour his promise, retracting any refund or help in the matter. Have now written directly to Head Office, Customer Complaints and Booking.com - all have failed to respond. They claim I was a no show, which in fact is in factual and untrue. I arrived to collect, ,albeit late but prepared to take car but felt it was all handled with a lack of transparency and dishonesty.
After a number of days waiting for a response, have this afternoon received a reply from Mr. Peter Kerr, hasten to add astounded by the false narrative, disinformation and inaccuracy of the facts. Not only was he in full agreement in respect to both the holding deposit given the circumstances, but given that they failed to provide a suitable car (and confirmed as a No Show), which again was untrue, he is now providing a complete prevarication of the facts as they unfolded. We were met with abrupt and rude staff during every call placed, and yet has accused us of being rude, when we expressed only frustration by the fact, all of our calls were ignored, we were advised to call back as he was at lunch, then told he had left early, provided contact details to which he failed to have the courtesy of returning any calls, or addressing emails and now find ourselves being told the matter 'IS CLOSED', no refund, no apology and very poor management of the entire situation from start to finish - we will never use this company again.
Just received a response from Customer Complaints - they have asked that I updated via their booking system, again made many attempts but this failed, just as everything else with the booking had. To lack care or compassion during the hire of this vehicle, required to transport ailing father for chemo sessions is very poor performance indeed. Therefore please do us the courtesy of handling in a more professional and timely manner our full complaint
After weeks of unacceptable responses - both booking.com or Drivalia refused to refund - although it was promised given the circumstances.
THEREFORE, GIVEN THE CURRENT CLIMATE, AIR TRAFFIC PROBLEMS, PLEASE BE AWARE REGARDLESS OF IF YOU ARE HELD UP AT CUSTOMS OUT WITH YOUR CONTROL, THEY HAVE DECENCY OF TRYING TO ACCOMMODATE OR HELP IN THIS MATTER - A DISTINCT LACK OF CUSTOMER CARE
Response received:
Thank you for your message and for taking the time to explain the situation regarding your car rental.
We completely understand how frustrating flight delays and cancellations can be, especially when they affect your travel and car rental plans.
After reviewing your case, we kindly ask you to refer to the terms and conditions outlined in your voucher. According to these terms, EconomyBookings is not responsible for changes or disruptions to flight schedules, nor for any resulting costs or inconveniences.
While we always do our best to accommodate customers experiencing delays, the rental supplier may not be able to hold the vehicle or keep the rental desk open once the scheduled pick-up time has passed. As stated in the conditions, if the vehicle is not collected at the confirmed date and time and no prior cancellation is made, the booking is considered a no-show, and unfortunately, no refund can be issued. These terms were available and confirmed during the booking process by selecting “I agree to the terms and conditions,” and are also displayed on your confirmation voucher.
We truly regret that we cannot offer the resolution you were hoping for on this occasion. We understand this outcome is disappointing, and we genuinely empathize with the difficulties caused by flight disruptions. For potential compensation related to flight issues, we recommend reaching out directly to your airline or travel insurance provider, as they are best positioned to assist in such cases.
We truly appreciate your understanding and are here to help in any way we can.
Kind regards,
Megan

From the moment we got on the shuttle minibus to the Monet we were dropped back off, we experienced superb customer service. Picking up and returning the car was a very simple process. We were able to get a small upgrade with no issues. Car was very clean and bang up to date.

I was charged 60gbp to take the car to Mull even though I have emails stating there would be no charge for this and being told that I would be refunded the 60gbp because I was told I wouldn't be charged. These people are shonks.

First time using this company as wanted to save a bit of money for my 6 day car hire. Booked, paid and filled out the online form including my driving licence details to make the process at the other end quicker and because of this I thought I didn't need me driving licence. Silly me, the chap at the desk said that I can't physically give you your car without it. My fault, so back in the courtesy van back to the airport terminal and to the car hire area. Where 'without a driving licence' I hired a car for 6 days, through Europcar, just done a few online DVLA checks. How easy is that? So beware if you think that filling out all that online stuff before you go is going to make it any easier the other end, I thought I was fine. Just a few other things, the courtesy van is driven far too fast and the portacabin at the compound is filthy. But the 2 staff there had to deal with quite a few customers and a few of them where angry, but not me, I just kept a calm head to figure out on how to proceed with my holiday. They did there best to do there job under trying circumstances.

Customer service was very pushy. Desperate to sign forms. Was told I needed protection even when I stated already purchased the sum of £870 was stated I would receive back upon return of car. That was in August and nothing was sent email which is disgusting that I enjoyed the car I won’t be getting my £870 back. Definitely scam and commission driven. Around shocking company dont go near unless you want to loose your money. Management don’t care.

Official Complaint Regarding Unfair Insurance Charge. I am writing to lodge an official complaint regarding my recent car rental with Drivalia ( Rental Agreement No. 3382840, dated 31.08.2025, at 35 McFarlane Street, PA3 1SA Paisley ). At the time of collecting the vehicle, my credit card was refused by your staff member, initially on the grounds that the card only showed the first initial of my first name. In order to clarify this, I provided a bank statement clearly showing my full first name and surname, matching my driving licence and identification documents. Your employee then changed the reason for refusal, stating that my credit card showed the courtesy title “Miss”, while my driving licence showed “Mrs”. It must be stressed that such courtesy titles have no legal relevance whatsoever and should not be used as a justification to refuse a valid credit card. My card was valid, issued in my name, and funds were available on it. Furthermore, I was then forced to use a different card to pay a reduced deposit (since there were insufficient funds on that card, whereas sufficient funds were available on the original card that was refused). On this second card, the courtesy title “Miss” also appeared – yet this time it was suddenly accepted by your employee, provided that I paid an additional £150 for extra insurance. Despite the fact that my original card was entirely valid and met all requirements, it was wrongly refused, leading to a situation where I was effectively forced to incur additional costs. As a result, I was informed that the only way to proceed with the rental was to purchase this additional insurance for around £150. Due to my urgent need for the vehicle, the language barrier, and the fact that I was already at the rental desk, I had no real choice but to accept this unfair charge. I consider this practice to be misleading and unfair. Therefore, I request: A full explanation of why my valid credit card was refused – first under the pretext of the initial of my first name, and then due to an alleged difference in courtesy titles (“Miss” instead of “Mrs”), which has no legal basis. An explanation as to why another card bearing the same title “Miss” was accepted without issue, but only on condition that I paid an additional £155 for extra insurance. A full refund of the £155 charged for this additional insurance, which was not voluntarily chosen but imposed. Unless this matter is resolved satisfactorily, I will have no choice but to escalate it further, including raising a chargeback with my card issuer and submitting a complaint to the relevant consumer protection bodies. I kindly request your written response within 14 days.
I received a very quick reply saying that I should report with my cards on the day of returning the car. The service manager checked my cards, and I explained the whole situation: why I was forced to pay for additional insurance, and why the employee rejected my valid credit card.
I was very surprised because the manager(Daniel)asked me personal questions such as whether I am married, divorced, or single, since when, for how long, and so on. During the conversation, my sister mentioned that she is married, but her cards also show the status- title “Miss.” The manager then stated that he needed to speak with the employee and hear his version of the events. Of course, there are cameras everywhere, so it is easy to verify the situation. I was told that I would receive a response in a few days.
After six days, I sent an email asking whether the matter had already been resolved. I thought it was a joke, because of course there was no mention of refunding the unjustly charged insurance. As justification, the manager wrote that I had not reported the issue within 24 hours (which is again completely absurd, just like rejecting a credit card under the pretext of the “Miss/Mrs.” courtesy title on the card). At the time of rental, the employee pressured me into paying additional costs, and later they swept the matter under the rug because I had not reported it within 24 hours.
I absolutely do not recommend this rental company – they deceive and trick customers into paying unnecessary extra charges.
When renting the car, the employee did not present any regulation or policy stating that he had the right to reject my card, and after I filed a complaint about the unjustified insurance charge, the service manager did everything possible to avoid holding the employee accountable for this obvious mistake.

My flight was delayed getting to Glasgow airport , tried calling the 2 contact numbers at 10:40pm for 40 mins with no answer . I had my family with me , one was a 18 month old. Had to get a taxi to my hotel only to find out the next morning that my booking had been cancelled as a no show. How do you call to advise when your phone is on flight mode. No offers of a refund either.

Would not recommend Drivalia because:
1. We didn't get the car we actually booked.
2. Car we got had 70,000 miles on it and was due a service.
3. Despite paying for full insurance and full excess waiver, this apparently didn't cover the tyres or windscreen, so we had to pay a significant amount extra for insurance.
3. We had to pay extra because we were visiting the isle of Mull in Scotland.
4. Drivalia depots are not located at the airport - you have to wait for a bus between the airport and the car hire depot.
5. Receiving the car takes ages (like 40 minutes, not counting the bus trip) - you basically have to re-do all the paperwork, despite giving them all the details online beforehand.
6. Returning the car is the same in reverse - i.e. wait ages on the side of the road for a bus. (NOT 5 minutes like the disinterested staff tell you!) Very stressful and we almost missed our flight check-in!
7. I will avoid this company, and use a reputable car hire company next time!

My experience with Drivalia was nothing short of appalling. They lure you in with what looks like a reasonable booking, but once you arrive you’re hit with a wall of outrageous fees and “policies” designed to extract every last penny.
Firstly, they demand a £1500 hold on your credit card. If you don’t happen to have a credit card (or don’t want such a huge sum blocked), you’re forced into paying their extortionate “insurance” of £32–£41 per day. I explained that I already had my own comprehensive car hire insurance, but was told flatly that Drivalia does not accept outside insurance and that they would not honour my booking unless I paid their rates.
Then came the worst part: they demanded an extra £60 just to take the car off mainland UK. When I refused to pay this absurd charge, they refused to take me back to the airport and charged me anyway. That kind of behaviour is beyond unprofessional — it’s outright extortion.
The whole setup feels like a deliberate scam: the company relies on small print and unfair policies to trap customers into paying far more than expected. I’ve hired cars all over the UK and abroad and have never encountered such a brazen money grab.
Save yourself the stress and expense – book with a reputable company instead.

The pick up was more than an hour delayed, because the office ran out of cars (although I had reserved it in advance). I filled in the pre check-in online, but it apparently didn't do anything, because the staff still needed to scan my passport and driver's licence. The only plus was that the staff was very friendly.
