Sadly I had my beloved dog put to sleep 5 weeks ago. Downlands have been awful since, nearly 2 weeks later I received my invoice this was on the Tuesday, I wasn’t coping well at this time as my Luna’s birthday was due on the Saturday, on the Saturday her birthday I had another letter from there debt department chasing me! No card which apparently they send but for some reason I and my dog were not worthy of a card my dog was clearly not an important factor. I made a compliant to which I received a pretty standard reply still no card arrived which you thought may have prompted that.

Awful service no compassion what so ever, more worried about £227.50!!! Over my dogs life and the grief I was experiencing at the time.

My advice avoid at all costs

The staff were amazing with us after we had a very poorly cat that unfortunately didn’t make it. Everyone at the Bognor branch did everything they could to help and support us.

The Denmead branch told me there is a new regulation to give only 3 days worth of antibiotics, I believe this to be a con so your pet does not get better and you are forced into going back for expensive testing. We have moved to Animed and they have been brilliant, more reasonably priced too, and we were prescribed 10 days of anti-biotics for our precious boy as he needed them. Do not trust Downland!

never ever go to this vet i went there with my puppy kept overnight my puppy was very ill and it had passed they then done cpr to make the puppy alive again so they could keep her longer and get money they done this behind my back never told me anything until i went to another vet and they told me what they done i never signed anything! all they want is your money they do not care about the animals being taken into them and the women there was so so rude telling me how its my fault because i came to the vet to early talking to me like a child then when i picked up my puppy what was apparently doing okay turned out to be half passed away when i collected then charged me stupid amount so rude dont ever go there so angry how these have got away with thisa lso the people in the waiting room also saying they put in a bad complaint aswell please don’t go here for your animals sake

We took our cat lucky for her 6 months check up,at Chichester,
nails clipped,flea and worm treatment, Katy the Nurse was excellent, very helpful with advice for Lucky, couldn't have asked for better care.also very lovely receptionist, we were well looked after.👍

I had to have both of my pugs euthanised as a result of visiting the Portsmouth branch.

Only want money. Rough examinations. False information. Cold sarcastic staff.

If you cherish your pet please, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

The vet was lovely, she made my cat feel very safe while another vet had to shave the poor things tail. They gave amazing instructions and I’m sure our kitty feels much safer already.

We took our 16 year old cat to Downland Emsworth as he was going rapidly downhill. Lucy, the vet, gave him a check over & could feel a tumour in his stomach & after discussion we decided it was best for him if we had him euthanised. Lucy was very gentle with him & kind to us. He went very quickly & peacefully so we are grateful for that

The way in which the staff at Downland Veterinary Practice dealt with an urgent problem with our dog was
very impressive, not only did they promptly diagnose the condition, but also they dealt with the necessary and required
procedure efficiently and quickly. We are so fortunate and thankful to have Sarah Turner, our vet, for many years and
more recently the nursing staff, Hannah and Katy who have also been brilliant and caring. We would also like to thank generally all the staff at Hilsea and Emsworth for their help and assistance during a very difficult time.

This once wonderful veterinary surgery is now nothing more than another branch of a national chain. They insist on putting through insurance claims and then do nothing for three weeks. Constantly chasing the finance team get promises of action but nothing happens. The out of hours service they use is absolutely awful. Avoid.

Don’t use this vets , I had a bad experience there, telling me my dog was ill has heart problems and kennel cough, which doesn’t have , they told me last time he needed Arthritis Medication , he’s been tested and doesn’t have that too and always trying to sell you expensive medication, I took him for a second opinion and he has nothing wrong with him

One of my dogs went in to have lumps removed and came back out with smashed teeth! my other dog had an ear infection/ suspected yeast infection, the vet recommended apoqel, I raised concerns as I had heard bad things about it as it is known to suppress the immune and there was a cheaper better less risky option available, it clearly put the vets nose out of joint she was passive aggressive and abrasive to deal with after so I went with her suggestion as who was i to question my vet! The long shot was my dogs whole immune system shut down, he was covered head to toe with weeping rashes/hives and lost parts of his fur, he has had to wear a cone for months! the poor dog has had ££££ spent on him with daily expensive elimination diets and pro biotics colodial silver special powders and anything out of desperation we could find, finally months later to start to get him back to near healthy again, I have lost all faith in these vets, I truely believe that they put up a front of caring for your animals but they are just cash cows to them. And I hate to even imagine why happened for my dog to leave there with his front teeth smashed, it boils my blood. Avoid at all costs!

Downland Selsey worst vets I have ever used in 70 years of being a dog owner!!
Basically treated my 11 yr old dog who was limping on her hind leg for 4 weeks as arthritis!
She was examined 4 times by the same vet and when she didn’t improve asked for an xray as I wasn’t happy with her diagnosis!
She had a ruptured cruciate!!
I took her to a specialist vet who confirmed within one visit cruciate damage and then when she had the xray confirmed no sign of arthritis whatsoever!!
Obviously, I made a formal complaint to Downland and as I fully expected ,they did not admit to any misdiagnosis at all.
No surprise there!
In fact their report contradicted everything that actually took place during my dogs 4 examinations by the same vet over a 4 week period.
I wholeheartedly regret that I didn’t act on my gut feeling after the 2nd visit and seek another opinion!!

Our cat was due his annual routine check. We usually go to the Stone Cross practice, having made an appointment we were contacted on the day of the appointment and asked to rearrange with the Hailsham practice instead. This was a new practice for us, and we'll never go there again.

We'd arrived a little early, but our appointment time came and went. After 15 minutes we checked with the reception staff who informed us that the vet we were supposed to see was on the phone. We continued to wait. The reception staff put a note to him, so he was fully aware that he had a client waiting.

Our cat had a longer than usual journey to reach practice to only sit and wait; he'd become quite distressed and messed his carrier. He then had to sit in that while we waited. So 30 minutes after our appointment time we left.

If we had failed to show for the appointment we'd have been charged. What do we get when it's the vet that doesn't bother to show up? Not even so much as an apology from the vet. Such arrogance is unprofessional. Given the extortionate prices this practice charges, I'd expect a better attitude towards their clients.

Just to be clear: it's the vet that we're angry with, not the reception staff; they did their best to get us seen, but I guess the vet was too arrogant to acknowledge them either.

Private tooth extraction for a human being £125. This group want to charge £1001.87 for extracting a tooth from a cat. It is about time these vet chains were investigated by the government. Rip off Britain yet again!

Some of the vets there are amazing, others not. I went yesterday with my cat and once again got paired with the vet that is frightened of cats. She told me to drug my cat next time I brought it in because it hissed, she then brought another colleague into the room with a towel that then just stood there and watched me and didn't help at all.

This was all so they could apply some spot on. They then COMPLETELY ignored the issue I actually took my cat in for. I have been with them 7 years and I'm quite honestly fed up. I very rarely see the same decent vet twice but If I do it always seem to get the one that has an attitude problem with me. No other vet I've ever seen with that cat has said she's aggresive. Shes even named after a tart because she acts like one most of the time.

I will be changing vets as yesterdays experience left me in no doubt, they do not reassure or help. I always come away with more problems than I went in with.

That and I'm fed up of waiting in reception for 10 minutes just to be acknowledged everytime I go because they don't hire enough staff.

This is specifically the Bognor branch, Chichester seems fine.

Downland vets Bognor are all Super stars. I have been with them nearly 4 yrs. My poor Oscar was bitten or something itchy. He made a right mess of his neck overnight. The care and support and great knowledge of the staff are fully recommendable . They really care for the animals and owners. So many people would be lost without there great care. Well done all x

Absolutely outstanding care from the Bognor branch after our two dogs were handed in as missing/lost this Saturday morning. They escaped due to a newly installed garden gate that didn’t lock correctly. If this company wasn’t open today, I have no idea how our dogs would have been safely handed in and returned to us moments later. Thank you so much to all the wonderful team members who helped. Used this vets for years but since taken over by downland they are terrible.
Called the RSPCA on us because we refused to have our elderly lab put to sleep.Owners know when it's time.
Hailsham branch will never use again

My very precious 4 year old tabby cat Django was extremely sick. 8 months ago I wrote a review about the wonderful, caring and loving experience. 8 months later my gorgeous boy has made a full recovery. This is all down to the care of Ana and the whole team at Downland Bognor Regis. Words cannot thank each and everyone.
