Had amazing customer service experience

We bought a JVC Firefly TV which broke down after about two months. Took it back to our local shop and were told they would not be able to do anything and that we had to phone their online services. Did this and the operator talked me through various actions to try and fix the problem, all of which did nothing to help. Eventually we were given a reference number and told to take it to a shop to be sent away for repair. The shop had no record of our tv having been booked in but they finally agreed to take it in for repair. 4 weeks later we were told to come and collect our “repaired” set. It worked for about two weeks before the same fault returned. The phone operator at customer services again talked us through rebooting the set and again it worked for about a month. Since then Curry’s have refused to do anything other than talk me through a factory reset. It’s now at the stage where the tv has to be reset at least every three weeks.

Quick transaction process. 0 faff, was in and out within 10 minutes. Couldn’t ask for anything more

Washing machine delivered on time and installed by two very experienced and friendly fitters. All seems to be working well. Very pleased thank you.

This review is to share Curry’s inability to respond to my nightmare repair experience described further below in an earlier review. (truncated due to character limits on Trustpilot).

Meantime my family has no laundry facilities for 1 month and counting despite appliances being under paid warranty and no idea when Currys will resolve.

I contacted Curry's Care and Repair service (the one with the 7 day repair or replace promise) on 20th August to organise repairs (under 5yr paid for warranties) to my washing machine and tumble dryer which developed separate faults within a few days of each other.

Curry's promptly organised Pacifica to visit my property the next day.

From this point the nightmare commenced. The fault with the washing machine that I fully explained to the engineer was it would run for about an hour before persistently tripping the RCD safety device on the fuse board. He conducted a resistance check on the machine and put it on a 15-minute wash which (unsurprisingly) did not result in the fault occurring.

He then said that because my fuse board was not fully up to date this meant the RCD tripping would trip multiple circuits. This was stating the obvious as it would be to anyone with any knowledge of domestic electrics whatsoever. (I happen to have a Physics degree & HNC in electrical, mechanical & instrumentation but didn’t need to tap into that). He said he would submit a report to Pacifica.

He then moved onto the tumble dryer that was displaying a "check drain" message & an "empty water tank" message. I showed him the tank was empty (the machine drained via a drain line in any case) & the drain line which was clear. He then left.

I waited a week & after hearing nothing I called Pacifica. At this point the nightmare went to DEFCON 3 level.
The Pacifica helpdesk person found my case and cheerfully advised me it had been closed on both machines as the engineer’s report stated the RCD was outdated & causing the fault. He advised me I would need to start the process again. I advised this was not acceptable to me & could I speak to a supervisor. I was transferred to the supervisor at which point we quickly went to DEFCON 4. She would not listen to me pointing out the RCD could not a credible reason for the washing machine tripping as it had not tripped it for 2 years using the machine before the fault or since it was now not in use, nor have a conversation on why the tumble dryer repair was cancelled at the same time. Eventually we agreed she would contact the engineer who performed the visit & wrote the report (which I was not allowed to see) and get back to me within 2 working days. I did not hear back from her.

I then phoned the Curry's repair helpline again but was unsuccessful as after going through the options it cut me off. I tried 5 more times and gave up.

Time to visit the Curry’s store from which I bought both machines armed with my warranty details and machine serial numbers I dropped past, explained to the duty manager the above and he immediately stated that "if that is what the engineer has stated there is nothing we can do". I said this was unacceptable and it was obvious to anyone with any technical knowledge that the Pacifica report was flawed. We agreed to disagree, I explained I would be submitting a one-star review and a complaint, after which he said he found that statement threatening and pointed me to another colleague.

The next colleague could not have been more helpful. She actually listened :), noted everything down, sent a long message to Head Office and advised she would contact me with their response. I also offered to get an authorised electrician to inspect and test my RCD fuse board and send her the report. I thanked her profusely, apologised to her colleague if he felt my review and complaint statement came across as a threat (note I did not raise my voice, gesture or use any threatening language despite feeling frustrated).

I organised the inspection and testing of the RCD at my own expense which confirmed the RCD was operating correctly and my fuse board, circuit breakers and RCD were compliant with current regulations. I sent this report off to the store duty manager email.

Update 4th Sept: formal complaint submitted

Update 17th Sept: email from Currys Trustpilot team to say escalated to senior management.

Update 25th Sept Still waiting for a reply with a proposed resolution.

The man in the store was very helpful he explained everything and answered all my questions

We went to buy a smart watch and chuks served us, he was excellent explained things very well was professional in his manner and we were very happy with everything 😊

Subin was extremely helpful and knowledgeable on both the product and in guiding us through the interest free credit that was available and that we signed up to. A proper gentleman.

Very good efficient service and quick delivery

Used Currys to supply a cooker and fridge/freezer. Salesperson was helpful. It cost an additional £100 to connect the cooker which was disappointing when price is a factor in supplier selection but with time against us we went ahead to get it done 'properly'. Delivered on time and all good so far.

The members of staff i dealt with were professional and extremely polite and helpful.

You know, I have had so many bad delivery experiences recently that I look at all other options first. Most delivery crew are surly, disconnected automons. On this occasion I had no other option but to have my new fridge delivered. James and Rash were my delivery crew and what a great commendable couple they were. Both were exceptionally friendly and very customer focused. Well done James and Rash and well done Currys.

I had an excellent experience visiting Currys Aberdeen Berryden on September 3rd. I purchased an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a MacBook, and the customer service was outstanding. A huge thank you to Mr.Sharath, who was extremely helpful, polite, and made the whole buying process seamless and easy. Highly recommended!

Friendly staff member who assisted me staff name Rebecca. Very patcient with me and helped explain options. Would definitely recommend!!

I think it's a very convenient option if you need to buy a product immediately or prefer a physical inspection beforehand, because they have a store in my area.
Plus, I can order online and pick up the product in store quickly. And finally, they have a price-matching policy if you find the same product cheaper at other UK retailers.
